@Ann....I still blame the CVs and the people responsible for the creation of the show....since the decision of what the actors character is going to be in ultimately in their hands.

So what if an actor asks to be made positive...they didn't have to listen....just as they are bound by a contract, so is he...in fact they could have removed him if he refused to go according to the story line that they had in mind..
