On the request of a Geet fan I translated the Geet and Maan scene in the forest on Sep 29th 2010 episode:

Geet comes into the camp site and says "Out of everywhere is town Maan sir could only find this jungle for our date date" Then as she is scared to be alone she mumbles a chant which people say to keep evil away and bad things from happening to you. I had never heard this before and had to ask hubby to translate. Literal translation was too much!

Then she says "Maan sir, sir, Maan sir, where is Maan sir? Maan sir?" and we see Maan coming towards her and she is backing into him. After she bumps into him, screams, he covers her mouth with his hand and says "quiet!" He looks down at her fabulously is gorgeous strappy sandals (I forget all about Maan started fantasizing about how I could get them when I arrive in New Delhi…)

Geet – I thought we were going to a restaurant for dinner and that is why I am dressed this way (she says hotel - in India people refer to fancy restaurants as hotel)

Maan – I thought if we came to a place like this we would have more privacy to talk properly. If you want…

Geet – no no no. It is okay. She falls he saves her. (Tammie in another show he played a GOD Ram…and he really looks like a GOD! *fanning herself*) Maan and picks her up, sits her down and takes off her sandals. This is a really significant scene because of the way the male / female structure is set up in most of India men don't touch their wives feet. It's always the other way around. Don't ask me why that is the way it is!

Maan – what is this?

Geet – you said that you liked girls who wear high heels!

Maan – you did this to impress me?

Geet – yes…I mean no…vo…

Maan – Geet, you still don't understand me. You don't need to impress me because I was impressed a very long time ago by your simple style. The foundation of our relationship is your simplicity. Do you remember Geet that we meet in a place just like this? (flashback) That day was so unique. Without any societal formalities or ties we were still joined. Then why am I trying to tie you now? Why am I trying to force words to join us now? Geet, whenever we sit down to talk we end up fighting. Isn't that right (geet nods) When we are sitting like this together then we don't need any words between us. I was wrong to put pressure on you to move faster than you're ready. But today I had the realization that when we have the rest of our lives together then I can wait for the rest of my life for you. And keep waiting. It's not like that after today we will never..Geet covers Maan's mouth.

Geet – enough. Don't say anymore. You can never be wrong. It is me who is wrong.

Maan – Geet! you're crying. I thought you liked what I said. My intension wasn't to make you sad. But if I made you feel bad then please forgive me. I am sorry Geet. But don't cry. He dries her tears.

Geet - Please don't say sorry. It is my mistake. I am wrong. I was the one who couldn't tell you about my pain. The simplicity you want I can't give you.

Maan – Geet.

Geet – my life is so complicated. I am afraid. I am afraid. The happiness that is standing before me with open arms – do I have the right to accept. The feelings I have in my heart – do I have the right to feel them. Do I have the right to bring someone in my life?

Maan runs in front of Geet and says – you have the right! Yes, you do.

Geet – but my life is not mine alone. I am about to be an unmarried mom. I have..

Maan – I know Geet. I understand your responsibilities.

Geet – my responsibility, will you be able to accept it in your life? It will not be easy. You are so good. You will find much better girls whose lives are not as complicated. Whose future will be clean. Who don't have a stain in their past. Who are pure.

Maan – who can be more pure than you Geet? I don't think you heard what I said properly. I have said it before. You're perfect just the way you are. No one can be better. And for me purity means you Geet. Yes. Then he jokes that there is something you're a bit complicated. It's hard to understand you.

Geet gets upset – I told you this before.

Maan – your complications make life worth living. You change all the time. When you cry while laughing or laugh while crying, you're quiet or mischievous. What will happen next no one knows. That is what I like about you Geet. Doesn't matter what happens but life with you will be interesting.

Geet – Your life is not just your own. You have a family who know nothing about me. Tomorrow is our engagement. People will ask about my family. How will we answer?

Maan – I don't care about other's questions. And about grandma I have already told her that you don't have anyone else in you life except us. And she is not going to ask any more about it. Because just like what makes her happy is my happiness…she is happy when I am happy ..(you know what I mean)

Geet – why are you so good? You have done so much for me. And I have nothing to give you ….except one thing. Today I want to tie you to myself (that is the literal translation…takes out the tavej necklace (flashback to when the fortune teller who gave her that tavej a long time ago..he says when you find the one you love put this around his neck and watch as the blessing of babaji will remain with you always!)) She puts it around his neck and putting a necklace around a man's neck is a symbol of marriage as I am sure you have seen before.

Maan – This Tavej has always joined us together.

Geet – and now after today will join us together forever.

Maan – for the rest of our lives. They join hands. Now every morning of my life is going to begin with you and each night will end with you.

Geet repeats – life's every morning will begin with you and each night will end with you.

Then they HUG.

I had never heard that before (no surprise) and when my husband tried to translate...I couldn't possibly do that translation justice...so left it alone.

You're welcome Tammie. It was a lot of fun listening to the dialogues so closely to be able translate.

BTW my hubby knows a lot more about my obsession now! Shelly

It had to happen sometime. Guess now is as good as time as ever for him to find out.... Now that he knows, is he jealous?😆😆😆

My hubby sees me watching but has no idea WHY I watch. I just tell him it's to expand my knowledge of Indian culture and the Hindi language. What he doesn't know won't hurt him!😆

No he doesn't care. Me too it's all for education..my vocabulary is increasing daily but watching these shows. More hindi is spoken by me at home. Although he did remark with all translations and doing the updates I am going to start writing these dialogues next.

hmmm..good idea.. I wouldn't mind moving to Bollywood!!!

Uh, huh. Educational purposes. Oh yeah, THAT'S why we watch this show. Has nothing to do with the force of nature, beauty, eyebrows, abs, eye-locks and sultry looks that is Gurmeet/MSK. Right. Uh, huh. Sure.
