i think it was more of a hilarious banter b/w the actors as an effort to promote the show.

It is percisely for all the things you have listed that I think that this show can go on for a couple of years without becoming stale. All said and done it does have a strong story base with potential for being pulled in all directions. I think the show makers should now concentrate on moving the story forward rather than focus on numerable eye-locks with 'mahi.....song' in the background which are going nowhere right now.
