@FSM- 93 This attitude is there yaar ..not everyone all the time but definitely a few ppl .. i m a Pakistani as well ... and luckily wearing local dresses to a five star hotel is not a big deal here (yet) but u r in for a few stares and weird looks if your dress is not stitched according to the latest style .... no simple salwar suits .... right now it is those long shirts and wide trousers 😆

i feel blessed that all my class fellows are level headed and all .. otherwise I would ahve been in trouble in college as well 😆 just bcos trousers are so in right now doesnt mean i actually like those things 😆 and i sure as hell wont wear something that i dont like even if it is in vogue

We all were soooo sooo excited to see today's epi...waited the weekend and see all of our moods been off.

Firstly, they make fun of Geet wearing Salwars in office...Now my question to CVs is to show me 1 office in India where ladies wear clothes like Sasha and co. Mind it I have worked with Tata group and in a pretty high position before coming to US.

Secondly, let the CVs show me in India in every Corporate parties ladies doesn't wear sarees. What these CVs think??? We are gullible???

Thirdly, in today's epi...again Geet was made fun of wearing Salwar. I won't write much here as have already shared in this forum..pg 2.

Fourthly, the manager made fun of Geet for not able to eat Lobster. I think CVs should check first...that was not Lobster. It was Crab served instead.

I was soo sooo excited to see how CVs handle Maan's realization. But after seeing all these exaggeration am completely demotivated. This is the only Indian serial I watch and was satisfied with how the CVs were handling adeptly. But now am NOT.

Koi mera mood thik karo pl...kuch to aacha bolo/likho Maan and Geet ke bare mein....pl 😡 😡 😡

So true.. if u dont wear according to the latest trend ppl would be giving all the wierd looks indiirectly .. not saying it but their face expressions are like " kitna purana style hai...up to date nahi hai" i have experienced this..but obviously i wont change :)

Hi Everyone,
I read this topic and want ot THANK the opener for this amazing discussion because I've been feeling this from the moment Geet entered the office, and since I havent' wathced today's epi I can't say any specifics abotu today but this has been recurring in tihs drama since Geet joined the office.
First of all, I think everyone from North America can agree that PROFESSIONAL woman do not wear clothes like Sasha here in the business sector, so I have no idea how they get away with this kind of dressing in India. What they are wearing is Sleezy and degarding to our sex if you ask me. I work for the federal government and the dress in my office is from Business casual to Business formal. No where in that dress code does it call for dresses that barely cover your ass.....like our dear Sasha wears. Cleavage on the other hand is a different matter😆😆
So with that being said, Geet is actually MORE PROFESSIONAL in her style of clothes than Sasha ever will be. And for a hotel manager to make fun of a person entering their establishment....that's just downright stupid. The CV's have gotten this wrong from the beginning and are still getting it wrong when it comes to what is acceptable clothes in a work environment and who should actually be making fun of who.....its Sasha that's the laughing stock of the office becuase of what she wears, NOT GEET!
I think someone said that a Salwaar Kameez is a respectful way of dressing and I agree with you. IT doesn't matte what style you've made your salwaar kameez ultimately however you have it designed it always looks good and respectful.
Thanks again for starting thsi thread dear...loved the topic. 😃

Well said,I thought of posting a comment on youtube abt the same, but I see a whole discussion going on here.
I am not sure whehter this really happens in India, party wear salwar kameez wont look out of place anywhere...May be there will be snobbish girls who will give you dirty looks, but I'm sure the hotel management would treat you better....
I dont see anything wrong in follwing the western way,but dont do it just bcoz it's considered cool..Wear mini skirts if you like to wear them and not to be considered high class, same goes to food ,music, movies and other stuff...Salwar or mini skirts,be who you are and do what you like to do....
And respect other people for what they are
That is COOL

I agree, it was a little zyaada, I mean office mein lots of people wear suits yaar (except Sasha of course, who comes straight from her clubbing clothes to work, now someone like this in real life would definitely get the wrong kind of attention at work for sure atleast in the US, ab India ke baaren main humen kya pataa). But the theme is kinda true in nouve riche audiences of urban india who have had the wrong exposure to western culture. India has sadly gotten psuedo recently.

how true...... i also find it amazing how ppl who have lived for 20 odd yrs in India come to the US/UK or some such country and suddenly develop amnesia abt their indian clothes and accents. 😆
I actually had sum1 feeling embarrassed to go out shopping with me in NY once as i was wearing desi clothes and offered to very kindly 'lend' me hers. It was amusing since she had only been here for a yr. and i knew that they didnt wear angrezi kapde in her family bak home........... so i guess its only the 'naya paisa/exposure' types who act this way.

Last time I was on vacation in India and it was so unbelievable how much one got judged by how they dressed, looked, spoke. Everyone would speak only in fakely accented English, hindi was like hai tauba.
And everyone wanted to go eat italian or mexican or something. I mean for someone like me vacationing in India, fresh yummy desi khaane ke liye taras taras ke kaun continetal khayega yaar.

i know.......... and the chaat and sugarcane juice........ yummmmm
And non branded clothes were like "Huh, you dont carry and LV purse " I was like no- I spend the money flying out to meet fake people like you! ... goodness a complete shocker.
oh and dont forget the ones who turn their noses coz ur makeup is bare minerals and not Dior 😆 my replies are usually sumthin sassy like 'whats the big deal ugly looks ugly even in expensive makeup' 😆

Disclaimer: Not everyone though.... but many incidents on my trip told me lots of indian kids today are a little confused and portray/believe everyday Indian clothes, baatcheet, khaana is not cool.

true again..... not everyone and also not exclusive to india as well....... desis here are no less too :D
