Part 18
The Khurana family was out for a day of shopping. Dadima was fussing over buying Geet so much clothes even though she didn't want them. Dadima picked out the most expensive and heavy saree's, although Geet always choose the simple and comfortable ones. Since she got married she changed her wardrobe. She wore saree's now. She also left her hair out, since Maan had insisted. Geet still kept to her simple style, yet she looked like she was the Maan Singh Khurana's wife. Her style radiated elegance with simplicity.
While Dadima and Geet picked things out, Maan was becoming bored. Once in a while they would ask him for his opinion and he would just say they were all nice. Geet rolled her eyes at him every time he did this.
"I'm going to step out for a bit. You two keep shopping. I'll be back.", Maan said wanting to get a little air.
"But where are you going?", Geet asked.
"I just want to look around a bit.", Maan told her.
He left Dadima and Geet at a jewelry store. He hated shopping. Especially shopping with women. They took so long to make up their minds when buying things. He thought it would be better to leave Geet and Dadima alone before he began yelling at them. He walked a round the mall. Then he saw a store that sold children's clothing. He went in. A sales women walked up to him.
"Hello sir, Can I help you?", She asked with a smile.
"uhhhh… yes. My wife is having a baby soon. I wanted to buy some outfits for our baby."
"Okay, is the baby a boy or girl?"
"Well… just show me things for boys and girls. We don't know the gender yet."
"Oh…you must be really excited to begin shopping now.", the sales women said leading him to the section where there was clothing for new born babies.
"Yes I am.", Maan said smiling.
The image of him and Geet with their child came into his head. He pictured a little boy playing in his lap, while Geet tried to feed the child. The prospect of this future made Maan feel a unusual sense of happiness.
He browsed the baby clothes. They were so small. He had never done anything like this before so he wasn't sure what to buy. At last he ended up buying a few dresses and tiny pants and shirts. He wondered why he bought all of that. What would Geet think of all of this? He actually felt a little embarrassed to show it to Geet. He didn't want her to think he was becoming soft.
Dadima and Geet were done shopping and wondered where Maan was. Dadima called Maan and he informed her that he would meet up with them in a few minuets. When Maan finally arrived, Geet looked at the bag in his hand. She asked what about what he bought. He told her it was nothing. She raised an eyebrow and looked at him in suspicion. Why wouldn't he show her what he bought? Well it wasn't a problem. She would get it out of him soon enough.
They went out for lunch and then bought Geet a cell phone. After they got home Geet was exhausted from walking so much. They were in their room. Geet quickly took a seat on the bed and gulped down a whole glass of water.
"Are you feeling okay?", Maan inquired.
"Yes I'm fine. I'm just tired."
"Then maybe you should lie down.", He suggested.
"I will. After you show me what's in that bag."
Maan was putting the bag of baby clothes away in his closet before Geet could see it. But Geet had already noticed what he was doing.
"Its nothing of your concern. Just rest.", Maan said trying to avoid the topic.
"I want to see what you bought and then I will.", she declared. She approached him.
"No!", Maan bellowed.
"What are you trying to hide from me? Its not a gift for your secret lover, is it?", She asked teasing him.
"What! What kind of nonsense is this? I don't have to show you anything. Leave me alone." He held the bag of clothes behind him.
"Okay fine. Don't show me then.", Geet said.
She pretended to back away. Maan relaxed and was about to put the bag away. Then suddenly Geet grabbed it from his hand.
"Lets see what your trying to hide Maan Singh Khurana.", Geet said with a winning smile.
Maan attempted to get the bag from her but she already opened the bag and pulled out a little pink dress. She stared at the dress with wide eyes. She dug deeper in the bag and took out more baby clothes. What was all this?, she wondered. Maan stared at her in horror.
"Maan, what…why did you buy these?", she whispered.
Maan shuffled his feet and looked at the floor. He didn't answer. Geet repeated the question.
"I bought them for our baby.", He said quietly.
Geet just looked at him with out saying anything. Moisture filled her eyes. What was Maan made of? She couldn't believe that Maan would ever do something like this. This wasn't even his baby. Yet he was doing everything a father would do for his own child. Why did he do all these things? Why did he make her feel like there was no one else she wanted to be with besides him?"
Tears trickled down her face. She felt like her heart would explode with all the emotions she was feeling. She felt like it would explode with what she felt for Maan. Geet was finally aware that she was in love with Maan Singh Khurana.
She sat down on the bed again, still holding the clothes in her hand. Maan was surprised to see her tears.
"Geet, why are you crying? Did I do something wrong?", He said sitting next to her. He put a hand on her shoulder.
"No…you didn't do anything wrong."
"Then why are you upset?"
"I'm not. I just can't believe that you bought clothes for the baby."
"Why not?"
"Maan, I don't understand how you can be so good to me."
"What do you mean?", Maan asked perplexed.
"Your always there for me. Ever since I met you, all you did was save me over and over again. And now you bought these clothes for the baby. A baby that's not even yours.", Geet said looking at him in awe.
"Geet, I already told you, I don't care that I'm not the biological father. This baby is mine. You don't have to praise me for it. I'm doing it for my own child.", Maan said resiliently. He wiped away her tears. "Stop crying. This is nothing to cry about."
Geet sat there silently. He didn't know the real reason she was crying. After struggling with her feelings for him for so long she knew why she felt this way. She loved him, but couldn't tell him. She wished she could tell him then and there but something stopped her. She was afraid of something.
A few minutes later Geet relaxed and said, "Maan I love the clothes. They're so cute."
Maan smiled, "Really? I wasn't sure what to buy, so I bought clothes for both a boy and a girl."
Geet laughed, "I think we'll be able to find out if it's a boy or girl on my next appointment."
Geet looked at all the clothes and loved every single one of them. They were so small and cute. She put them away nicely in the armoire, saving them for when the baby was born.
Maan was glad Geet liked the clothes. The rest of the day went smoothly. But Geet pondered away at her new realization. It was because she loved Maan that every time he touched her, she felt a odd sensation. This is why she kissed him back the other day at the office and the car. She was in love with that stubborn, angry, handsome and sometimes sweet Maan Singh Khurana. "Hai babaji, ab main kya karoon?", She thought. She couldn't tell him that she felt this way. Why was it so hard? He felt the same way for her. He would love to hear her say the three word he had been dying to hear for so long. But there was something that blocked Geet from saying it.
Maan and Geet were sitting in the balcony. Maan was doing some paper work while Geet chatted on the phone with Pinky. Maan shook his head in disapproval at all the things she was talking about with Pinky. Girls could talk to much and that too, about useless things. Geet's talking machine as on full speed.
After she hung up the phone she said, "Why are you shaking your head?"
"I'm just wondering how you could talk so much. I mean you usually can't do anything right, but if there's anything your good at, it's your non stop bak bak."
"I do not talk a lot! Maybe if you did some talking, you could at least pass for a human being. Oh wait, I forgot. You're a robot so why would you talk?!"
"At least when I talk to people, I give them a chance to speak. But you just go on and on.", Maan said glaring at her.
"Ughhhh your so rude!", Geet told him and walked back inside.
Maan knew he would have to make up with her or else she would sulk around. He noticed that these days her mood was unstable. One minute she was happy the next minute she was annoyed. He followed her inside to check on her. She was putting things away in the armoire. When she saw him, she rolled her eyes.
"Geet are you angry about the talking thing?", He asked checking her mood.
She didn't reply and went on doing her own thing. So she was going to give him the silent treatment, he thought. That's not a problem, he knew how to get her to talk.
"Geet, I've been thinking and I don't want you to work." He attempted to provoke her.
She looked at him icily but still said nothing. He went on saying that more things to annoy her. Yet, she still stayed quiet. It was bugging him to the core. If this didn't work he would try another way. He clenched his fist. Then he went up to her and locked her against the wall. She stared at him in fury.
"Why are you not saying anything?", He asked furiously.
She didn't answer. He locked her in a iron grip and was so close to her that their bodies did not have an inch of space between them. She began to breath heavily. He looked at her lips and kissed her with force. She closed her eyes in response. Oh god…she didn't know what to do. She wanted to melt in his arms but she struggled to stop herself. Her hands were rested on his chest and she tried to push him away. But he was too strong. He fixed his hands around her waist and pulled her closer. Maan wouldn't let go. Geet decided to give in and kiss him back. It felt like they were on fire. Maan's tongue traced her lips as he kissed her. She put her arms around his neck. His hand travelled the curves of her body. He could feel the heat that radiated off her skin from his touch. He ran his hand over the bare part of her stomach underneath her saree. She trembled in pleasure. He moved the kiss down her neck and then back up again to her lips.
Then suddenly Maan let her go and took a few steps back. He was shocked at his own actions. He shouldn't have done that. He saw Geet covering her mouth with her hand.
"Geet, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that.", he wanted to fix the situation.
"I…I…", She stammered and didn't know what to say. Instead she abruptly left the room. Maan called after her but she didn't look back.
Geet told the driver to drop her off at Pinky's house. She needed to get away from Maan for a while. It would be best of she sorted out her feelings first. Maan went frantic when he found out she wasn't home. He called her cell phone but then remembered that she didn't take it with her. He then called the driver, who informed him that Geet was at Pinky's house. Maan calmed and thought it would be better if he left Geet alone for now.
When Geet was at Pinky's house she shared her dilemma with Pinky. But she didn't tell her that she was in love with Maan.
"Geet I don't understand why you can't accept you feelings for jeju. He's your husband. What's the problem?"
"I don't know Pinky. I don't want to get hurt again."
"What makes you think he would hurt you? All he has ever done was take care of you. I mean he even married you knowing that you were having his brothers baby. A person doesn't get any better than that."
"That's true. But I can't get over my fears."
"Oh god! Your so stupid. Geet you married the guy that every girl wants and yet your complaining and all because he kissed you? What world do you live in?", Pinky said rolling her eyes.
"Ughh… never mind Pinky. You won't understand."
"Your right I won't. You have a gorgeous and caring husband who loves you madly, but you don't seem to care. So excuse me for not understanding your problem."
"Your no help. All you do is think of how good looking a guy is."
"Yeah I do.", she said with a dreamy look.
Geet decided that she should go home. She may have over reacted a little bit to the kiss. It was as much her fault as his. She kissed him back and she let him touch her. The problem was she couldn't stop herself. She wanted him. But she was scared to let him get close to her. She wasn't ready to admit her feelings for him yet.
Dadima and Maan sat it the living room. "Maan, when is Geet coming home?", she asked.
Maan didn't know the answer to that. But luckily he didn't have to answer as he saw Geet entering.
"Bahu rani, your home. I was just asking Maan when you would come.", Dadima announced.
Geet smiled at her. "Sorry, I didn't tell you where I went. I just wanted to see Pinky a lot. So I dropped by her house."
"Oh its okay. You don't have to tell me every time you go somewhere. But your husband seems to get restless when your not near.", Dadima smirked.
Geet blushed and looked at Maan. She could tell he was relieved to see her. They both went upstairs to their room. When they were alone Maan began to apologize.
"Maan, its fine, I forgive you.", Geet informed him.
Maan looked at her in surprise, "Really?"
"Yeah. But you have to promise not to do that again."
"I promise." Maan said halfheartedly.
The week was over and Geet would begin working at the office again. This time as Mrs. Geet Maan Singh Khurana. She was excited to go back to work. Maan told her that she had a new position now. He said it wouldn't be fitting to work as her secretary, now that she was his wife. The truth was he wanted to give her lighter work.
It was Monday morning and they got ready to go to the office. Geet was so happy to be working again that Maan didn't have it in him to try and convince her to stay home. When they were in the car on they're way to Khurana Constructions, Maan received a call.
He picked up, "Hello"
"Good morning, Mr. Khurana.", it was a call from his lawyer.
"Good morning, Mr. Patel. Is there something wrong?", Maan asked.
"Well…I didn't want to ruin you morning by telling you this, but I think you should be informed.", Mr. Patel said.
"What is it?"
"Dev and Naintara are out on bail."
"What? How did that happen?", Maan yelled in rage. Geet jumped at his shouting.
"I think someone from Naintara's family bailed them out from jail."
"Mr. Patel you better find a way to get them back in jail quickly. Speed up the processing time for the case. I don't care what it takes. Get the job done.", Maan said furiously.
"Yes, I will try my best.", the lawyer told him.
Maan clenched his fist and tightened his jaw. Geet was beginning to worry.
"Maan, what happened? Who do you want to send back to jail."
"Dev and Naintara.", Maan replied acidly.
Geet stared at him in shock. She thought the Dev chapter in her life was over. She prayed to god that she never had to face Dev or Naintara ever again.
Next Part: How will Geet deal with the news that Dev and Naintara are out from Jail?
Hello my lovlies. I've written over a 100 pages now. I'm surprised that I could write this much, since I struggle so much when it comes to writing essays for school. LOL. Anyways, how did you like this part? I know you guys expected Geet to tell Maan that she loved him in this part. But not yet. You have to wait a little longer for that. Don't worry, it won't be that long though. 😉 Updated PM list below. So guys PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS. 😃
