Part 16

Dadima was fussing about all the wedding preparations. It seemed that the last week she barely took a break. She was so excited that Maan was finally getting married. She wanted everything to be perfect. She knew she promised to invite only a few people abut she ended up still inviting quite a amount of guest to the wedding. Maan kept on asking her how many guest were coming but she pretended not to hear him every time. It was finally the wedding day. Now only the rituals and reception was left. Maan got dressed. Dadima had picked out a elegant gold sherwani for him. She tried to make him wear a sehera, but he wouldn't let her. He found those things ridiculous. It didn't matter that he didn't wear the sehera, he still looked like he was the groom, with his handsome face and regal sherwani. No other guy could even come close to the way he looked that day.

The barat was getting ready to go. When Maan saw the amount of people, he gave Dadima an evil eye. She ignored him. She had invited all of his relatives. He wished that his brother Vicky could have been there. But his security team still didn't find Vicky. As Maan looked through the crowd in his living room he saw his favorite cousin Naina. She was two years younger than Maan. But they had grew up together. She was the one and only cousin he had. They were very close until Maan had distanced himself from all the people in his life. But Naina still maintained her relationship with Maan. She was a lot like Pinky, bubbly and chirpy. But she was also very smart and sophisticated. She was pretty and tall and had the features of a model. Naina saw Maan and walked towards him.

"So, Maan your finally getting married. I feel bad for the girl that's tying herself to you for the rest of her life.", Naina said giving him a soft punch on the shoulder.

"Shut up. The guy that'll marry you is the one who will be sorry. I mean you belong in a mental asylum.", Maan said with a grin.

Naina laughed, "I'm glad to see that you've finally learned to smile. This girl is probably a magician if she was able to change Maan Singh Khurana. I can't wait to meet her.", Naina told him.

"Well she's no magician but she's definitely something.", Maan said with the image of Geet in his head.

"Awww look at our Maan in love. I thought you were a statue and didn't have any emotions.", She said with a smirk.

Maan hit her on the head. "Can't you keep you mouth shut?", he asked laughing at her rubbing her head.

"No, your such a jerk. But what ever its your wedding day so I'll let this go for now.", Naina said.

They were soon driving to the hall for the wedding. Dadima kept fixing Maan's hair. "Dadima can you please stop. I'm not a little kid."

"I know your not. But I changed your diapers, I have the right to do all this.", Dadima reminded him with tears in her eyes.

Maan shook his head at her, "Dadima don't cry. I thought you would be happy today."

"I am beta, these are tears of happiness."

Maan gave his grandmother a hug. After cheering up she began talking about all the things she would do with her new bahu. Maan just listened silently and smiled at her. Then they had arrived to the wedding venue. It was decorated extravagantly with red and blue. There were shimmery blue curtains hanging on all the arches that bordered the huge room. A massive staircase was at the other end of the hall. The railing on the stair case was decorated with red flowers. In the middle of the hall was the mandap. There were four pillars that supported the mandap. Each of them were wrapped around in vines of blue flowers. All in all the view was beautiful.

As the barat entered Pinky and her dad came to greet them at the entrance. Maan's eyes searched for Geet. He knew he wouldn't see her just yet. After they were let in Maan was told to sit at the alter. He patiently waited for his bride to come.

A minute later Maan saw a beautiful women standing next to Pinky on the stair well. Geet began descending the stairs in a gorgeous pink and white lehenga choli. The waist length blouse of her lenhenga was white and had short leaves with a silver border around the bottom and sleeves. There were silver designs around the neck. The skirt was filled with heavy designs. Her dupatta veiled her head. Geet's hands were filled with bangles, her neck was adorned with a diamond necklace that had matching earrings and a headpiece tikka. She felt every eye in the room as she walked to the mandap, especially one pair of eyes made her feel as if they would pierce her. Maan stared at her as if he had never seen her before. She was so stunning that he was mesmerized by her beauty.

At last Geet was standing beside him. They exchanged their varmala's. Geet was too scared to look Maan in the eye. Then they sat and the priest began to recite the marriage rituals and chants. Both their heart beats were so high that they feared everyone could hear it. Maan stole glances at Geet. He wondered what she was thinking.

Geet could not believe she was really getting married to Maan. He looked so handsome and dapper as a groom. Before she knew it they were standing up to take the phere's around the fire. Geet's dupatta was tied to Maan's scarf and they walked around the fire seven time as the pandit chanted the mantra's. As they walked around the fire Maan made silent promises to Geet to always be by her side and to love her for the rest of his life. After the phere's were over, Maan put the sindoor on Geet's forehead. She closed her eyes as he put the mangalsutra around her neck. Soon the rituals were done and Maan and Geet had become husband and wife.

They took their blessings from the elders. Dadima was ecstatic. She introduced Geet to all her relatives. Geet felt extremely shy and could barely utter any words. Maan stayed quiet and observed Geet. During the reception she met many people. There was so many guest that she felt a little flustered. Maan and Geet sat next to each other as their relatives came to congratulate them. Well it was more Maan's relatives than hers. She had only invited Adi and a few coworkers that she had befriended.

Adi came up to them., "hehehehe…congratulations s…sir, Geet. I'm very hap…happy for you."

"Thank you. I'm so glad that you came.", Geet said smiling and relieved to see someone familiar.

"We missed you at the office G..Geet. Office isn't the same without you.", Adi told her.

"Don't worry, I'm going to come back to work.", Geet informed him.

"That's great! I c…c…can't wait.", Adi said.

Pinky came up to them and said, "Geet I'm going to miss you so much at home."

This time Maan replied, "Pinky, you can come over to see Geet whenever you want."

Pinky smiled at his response and timidly said, "So can I call you jeju now?"

Geet laughed at this, Maan replied, "I guess you can, but not at work."

"Oh yay!", Pinky said in enthusiasm. Then she walked off.

"Geet are you happy?", Maan asked suddenly.

"What?... Why would you ask me that? Of course I am."

"Well you seemed so quiet, which is so unlike you.", Maan said.

"That's because I'm just a little nervous with meeting your family. You can't expect me to laugh and talk every moment of the day. Don't worry, I'm fine.", Geet assured him.

"Good. Now my cousin Naina is coming here to talk to us. Don't worry you'll like her."

Naina sat next to Geet with a big smile. "Hi! I'm Naina, Maan's younger cousin. His dad was my uncle."

"Hi", Geet said with a soft smile.

"Your so beautiful. How did you end up marrying him?", Naina asked with a grin. Maan gave her a warning look. Naina laughed at him.

"Actually I don't know myself. Tell me was he always this angry?", Geet replied with a smirk.

"haha…yeah he always was. But I know you'll have him in the palm of your hands.", Naina said with a wink.

"Are you two done with your nonsense? Naina get away from me before I throttle you."

"Always so touchy. Calm down, you just got married. You should be romancing your new wife not yelling at me.", Naina told him.

Geet turned red at this. Thankfully Dadima had come their rescue by bringing more people to introduce. Geet was getting so tired from sitting around for so long. She wanted to go home. There was a lot of dancing and singing going on but she didn't pay attention to that. She looked at the man that was now her husband and saw the serene and calm look on his usually cold face. His expression calmed her down too.

At long last, it was time to take the bride home. Geet cried so much when saying goodbye to Pinky and her dad. They had become her family in the short time that she had lived with them. They were much kinder to her than her own family. Pinky became her sister. She would miss having Pinky around all the time.

Geet and Maan sat in the car quietly. They both didn't know what say to each other. Then the arrived at Khurana house. Geet was welcomed to the family with full preparations. All the rituals had been followed. The house was decorated marvelously. After a few hours all the guest except Naina had left. Maan and Geet sat in the living room with Naina and Dadima.

"Geet, I'm so happy today.", Dadima exclaimed.

Geet smiled. Then Naina said, "Dadima, are you going to have them sit here all night? I think they're tired." , She winked at Maan and Geet with out Dadima noticing. Maan flared his nostrils, while Geet became embarrassed.

"Oh right. Well Geet beta I'm afraid I have to apologize to you for something.", Dadima said with a frown. Geet gave her a confused look. "You see the sahab zaida here, lives in the out house and won't move back to the mansion, because he's to stubborn. So you'll have to stay there with him.", Dadima explained.

Geet looked at Maan. He crossed his arms and told Dadima that there was no problem staying in the out house. Geet then said, "Dadima, I don't mind staying in the out house." She didn't want Maan and Dadima to get into an argument.

"Are you sure beta?", Dadima asked

"Yes.", Geet said with a smile. But Dadima grimaced at her answer.

They all went to the out house. Dadima told Geet if she needed anything to just call the main house and someone would help. Naina took Geet to Maan's room. She froze at the sight of his room. It was decorated for their suhag raat. The bed had a curtain of flowers all around it. There were rose petals scattered all over the bed. The room was lit by candles. She gulped and went inside. Naina told her to wait and that she would send Maan up while giggling hysterically.

Geet sat on the arm chair by the window instead of the bed. She was becoming very nervous. They shouldn't have decorated the room. Maan and Geet's relationship wasn't like a typical husband and wife relationship. Geet still wasn't sure of how she felt about him. Nothing would happen between them tonight.

Maan came up and had the same shock as Geet when he saw his room. He saw Geet sitting on the arm chair. She looked up at him nervously. He went up to her and said, "Geet, you must be tired. Go to sleep."

She was surprised at this. She thought maybe he had other expectations but he understood her uneasiness. Maan brought her suitcase from downstairs and stepped out while she changed. Geet was so astounded at Maan's behavior. But then again he wasn't like all other men. He always surprised her. She was so thankful that he understood her.

Then she let Maan back in the room. He changed his clothes and wore a pair of sweat pants and undershirt. He took off the curtain of flowers from the bed. Then he took a pillow from the bed and was about to walk out of the room. "Where are you going?", Geet asked.

"I'll sleep downstairs on the sofa.", He told her.

She didn't really want him to sleep on the sofa. After all this was his house. And she trusted him enough to share the bed with him. "Maan you don't have to do that. You can sleep on the bed with me.", She said softly.

"Its okay, I'll go down stairs."

Geet took the pillow from him, "Don't be ridiculous. Just sleep here. I don't mind."

"Are you sure?", Maan asked.

"I am.", She said with a shy smile.

Then they both laid down on the bed facing away from each other. They were as far from each other as they could be. Maan wished he could hold Geet in his arms, but knew that he wouldn't be able to until she was ready. They both fell asleep. Then unknowingly they both began to inch closer and closer towards each other through out the night. Now they faced each other. Maan was on his back while Geet was sleeping on her side facing him. Suddenly Geet put her head on his chest and hugged him. Maan wrapped his arm around her. They slept the rest of the night in each other arms, in peace, with out knowing that even in sleep they wouldn't be able to stay away.

Maan woke up the next morning with Geet still in his arms. She was so close to him that he could feel the curves of her body. She used his chest as a pillow. He didn't think she would like if she woke up in that position. He slowly wriggled out of her tight hug trying not to wake her. She moved uncomfortably. Before he went to workout, he admired her beauty. She looked so innocent and pretty. He kissed her forehead softly. It had finally dawned on him that Geet was his wife. He smiled at himself and went to exercise.

Geet moved restlessly on the bed. Something felt missing. She opened her eyes to see that Maan wasn't there. She panicked a little. Then she saw Maan enter the room. He didn't have a shirt on. She stared at him wide eyed. A shock travelled down her spine and her heart began to flutter. There was sweat dripping down his torso. He had a very lean and muscular figure. His body was very defined. She understood why all the girls called him DD. All she could think was that he was gorgeous. For a moment she wanted to run her hands over his chest, but then cursed herself for even thinking that. She took a deep breath and stood up and said, "Good morning sir…I mean Maan."

"Geet are you alright?", He asked concerned at her flustered expression.

"Yeah…I'm fine."

"Okay. Well I'm going to take a shower now. You can use the bathroom in this room and I'll use the one downstairs. We have to go to the main house after that.", Maan told her. He took his clothes and went down stairs.

Geet took her own clothes out and went to take a shower. She came out of the shower to find Maan fully dressed. Maan looked at her in surprise. He had never really noticed that she had curly hair. She usually tied her hair in a braid or straightened it. He like the bouncy curls on her head. They made her look prettier. She also had a yellow saree on. It was simple but she looked beautiful in anything she wore.

"What?", Geet asked when Maan was still staring at her.

"Nothing. Get ready.", he said.

Maan waited as Geet blow dried her hair. He put on the TV and watched the news. Then he became impatient. "Geet, hurry up."

"I am. Can you wait!", Geet said rolling her eyes.

"You women waste so much time."

"Don't start again.", Geet said warningly.

"How long does it take to get dressed?", Maan asked in aggravation.

"If you don't be quiet its going to take longer.", she said beginning to tie her hair.

"No, don't tie your hair, leave it out.", Maan said without thinking. Geet turned around to look at him. "I mean only if you want to.", Maan told her.

Geet thought about it then said, "Okay, if you want me to."

Maan smiled at himself. He didn't think she would listen to him. Geet was done getting dressed. She had sindoor on her forehead and her mangalsutra on. Maan admired all this. She was his wife and had worn all those things in his name. She was finally Mrs. Maan Singh Khurana.

Next Part: Dadima and Geet team up. Will they succeed in making Maan do what they want?

Hey guys. you all got lucky. My plans got cancelled so I was able to write another part before monday. Hope you all like the wedding. I apologize for making any mistakes with the wedding rituals. I'm not hindu so I don't really know how it works. I just used what I knew. I know all of you were eager to read the wedding part so I'm a little nervous about what you guys think of this part. So my lovely maaneetians leave comments. 😊

Below is a picture of Geet's wedding dress. Well actually only the skirt and dupatta. The top is too revealing for something Geet would wear. As I described in the story her top is actaually waist length with short sleeves and silver designs. LOL I feel like visual aid helps.
