wow! an interesting start to the fanfic.... loved the first two parts, Maaneet scenes were just perfect! I am already hooked to it, please do continue with the next part!

You know, it's easy to write into an elevator, but not so easy to write out of an elevator. I'll have to try extra hard to get the elevator rescue to be as good as the other parts. Part 3 very soon.

Part 3 - What was I doing?

The color was coming back into Geet's face, and Maan suddenly became conscious of how close he was to Geet. His arms fell to his side and he backed away into the elevator corner, not bothering to stand up again. He couldn't stop looking at Geet to assure himself that she was well. At the same time he started wondering if he was the one who had hit his head. He could barely understand his own behavior when he was around this girl.

"Why do I always concern myself so much with this girl?" Maan thought. "We have no relation, and yet I seem to think about her welfare constantly."

"What is it about this girl?" Maan again questioned himself, reluctantly tearing his gaze away from Geet and looking at the opposite side of the elevator. "I can't seem to stop myself from helping her. When she isn't around I worry about what trouble she might be getting into. Trouble! Yes, she always seems to be in one sort of trouble or another. I'm not heartless. It's only natural that I would want to help someone out of a difficulty even if she never seems to stay out of trouble. Yes, it's perfectly natural, and nothing to worry about."

Having convinced himself that everything is normal, Maan looks back at Geet, who has started picking up a file next to where she was siting and trying to get it organized again. For the first time he noticed that the files he and Geet had been carrying were laying chaotically all over the elevator floor. At once he realized that it would be impossible for Geet to wade through the mess alone, so he picked up a file near him and also began going through its contents.

Within a few minutes Maan was engrossed in reorganizing the files, and had almost forgotten about Geet's presence. Geet glanced over at Maan and saw him concentrating very hard on the papers in his hands. She smiled a little to herself when she remembered how concerned he had been for her. When she first started working as Maan's personal secretary she had thought that the job was going to be pure torture. It had been at the very beginning, but as time went on things had slowly started to get better. Maan had stopped yelling at her so much, after that day of his first apology, and Geet had begun to find communicating with him to be much easier.

"Maybe we just needed to get use to each other. After all that has happened I think we have become friends a bit now." After Pinky, Uncle, and Savitri Ma'am (aka Geet's soon to be Dadi), Maan was the person she felt most comfortable with. She somehow felt that he would always be there to support her. Even though she was determined to be independent, it was nice to know there was someone to turn to when needed. Geet's hand moved toward her abdomen as she felt a slight movement from the baby, and suddenly she became worried. (Awww, why are you worried Geet? Even the baby is acknowledging that Maan is the person you should look to for everything in your life.)

Geet began to think about the fact that she had kept her pregnancy a secret from everyone in Dehli. In fact, she didn't feel that it was anyone's business except hers, but she knew that eventually everyone would begin to see. She wanted to tell Maan herself, instead of him hearing some office gossip, but was unsure. It was hard to forget that in the past when she would try and explain herself that he never listened, and always seemed to think the worst. Geet really wanted to trust Maan with her most precious truth, but was afraid that things might go back to how they had been before.

Precap:

"What was that?" Geet asked in a frightened voice, standing up quickly and looking at Maan with worry in her eyes.
