Channels are busy sprucing up their Friday line-up to attract viewers. Close on the heels of Star One's Fantastic Friday comes Sony's Shukr Hai Shukravaar Hai. The channel is introducing two new shows, Fear Factor at 9 pm and Kandy Floss at 11 pm. A new look CID with a new format will also be aired at 10 pm. The detective series is being stretched from half-an-hour to one hour and wil solve one case per episode. Talking about the new programming, Anupama Mandloi, Creative Director, Sony says that the channel traditionally had a strong hold on Fridays and their new programming strategy has nothing to do with a rival channel's efforts to streng then their weekend band. "We already had the brand, Shukr Hai Shukrawaar Hai, we are just reviving it. Shows that will appeal to every member of the family are being launched with an eye to great weekend viewing." Fear Factor will show celebrities and commoners doing feats that have never been attempted on Indian television before. The show is produced by Endemol International. Shot in exotic locales of Kuala Lumpur, where the Indian participants were taken, Fear Factor India-Jo darr gaya so mar gaya tested its participants with death-defying challenges that they accepted bravely. Apart from ordinary participants who loved the challenge, famous television stars like Vikas Bhalla, Achint Kaur, Rohit Roy, Tina Parekh, Swetha Salve, Mandira Bedi, Nausheen Ali Sardar, Shraddha Nigam, Vikas Sethi and Swetha Kwathra were able to overcome their own fears and delve into their inner strength they never knew existed! The anchor, model-cum-actor Mukul Dev, guides the contestants(3male & 3 female in each episode) to compete for some stomach-churning tasks which involved water endurance(where the contestant will go down with his/her head submerged in water for the longest possible time),lying in a box containing snakes, tight rope walk between skyscrapers, surviving in scorpion-infested pits, climbing off water bikes into helicopter... The winner takes it all-no consolation prizes. With the huge prize money of Rs. 10 lakh to be won in each episode, this show represents gold standards(international benchmark in action programming) of action- reality programming in over 100 countries. Kandy Floss in a magazine format will give candid behind-the-scenes happening in the lives of TV stars candidly. Hosted by the vivacious Archana Puran Singh who loves shooting from the lip along with a co-host the sexy, sensual and mysterious Kandy, this show promises to bare all- the glitzy & gossipy happenings from the world of television & showbiz.

On the decision of changing the format of CID, Mandloi maintains that after eight years the channel wanted to give something new to viewers who have come to associate CID with Sony. "We are enhancing the storytelling, look and feel of the show," she informs dismissing talk of the new-look CID following in the footsteps of DON, a recent detecive series being aired on Star One and boasting the same format.
