Did anyone else notice how teenage Vivaan's story has been directly lifted from Charles Dickens' Great Expectations - the same orphan raised by his not so loving step sister but friendly brother-in-law. Then running into the bug mansion inhabited by an eccentric lady (Miss Havisham there, madam Preet here)who was dumped on her wedding day and who thus hates love and encourages her adopted daughter to be friendly with the common boy (Pip there, Vivaan here) only to break his heart later on.

In Great expectations too the adopted girl married someone else but continued to harbour feelings for Pip. Is it possible that Fanaah is actually a supernatural/vampire version of Great Expectations instead of being based on TVD 😆

I havent read the book. But i think i had heard of this story somewhere, though i cant remember where.
What i feel is that the initial background abt Vivaan might be picked from the book, But the one about moonstone is definitely from TVD. Well, Whatever it is, 1st epi was lil confusing but in all, i really have some good expectations from the show 😛

Haha I tweeted the same as I saw the precap.

Decaying bridal trousseau, haughty Estella (Avni?), Vivaan as Pip and Preet as the capricious Miss Havisham!

yes u must have heard some abridged version of Great Expectations.
Yes maybe past is Great Expectations (at least Vivaan's and maybe Avni's too) and present may be inspired from TVD. I have never seen TVD so no idea

Yes Avni might be based on Estella only if she is the same young girl as shown today and in precap.
Vivaan and Preet to are certainly Pip and Miss Havisham only 😆

Ekta Kapoor is going through a phase, I guess. She is basing her new shows on books. Custody, Sense and Sensibility, Wuthering Heights and now Great Expectations. The last three being Classics.
I just finished reading Great Expectations a few months back and am in hangover. It was natural for me to draw similarities. But, it didn't end there and after watching the entire episode, I could confirm that Fanaah is Great Expectations with a Vampire twist.
Vivaan is Pip, Preet madam, Miss Havisham.
Pip lost his parents and is living with his sister who is very harsh with him. His brother-in-law is a very kind man.Miss Havisham turns bitter after experiencing heartbreak when her fiance leaves her at the altar. She keeps her house in the exact condition it was when she was about to get married and every year dresses up for her wedding on the date she was supposed to get married. To take revenge, she adopts a beautiful girl child and teaches her to play with the hearts of men. Pip is brought in as a playmate for the girl whose name is Estella and he takes a fancy to her. Miss Havisham takes pleasure in this and encourages him so that she can see his hopes shattered when Estella rejects him.
Am I wrong in my deduction?
