Chapter 2
Sania Pov's
Dadu wants me to marry him, so I will. I will do anything for Dadu; even give my life, which I am doing. I'm giving it to a guy, to Zaib. I looked at my parents, their faces filled with hope, their eyes begging me to say yes. I looked at Adi, asking him silently what I should do. Could I really trust Zaib with my life? It doesn't matter anymore, what matters is fulfilling Dadu's wish. I looked at Zaib, he was handsome, rich, and everything a girl would want.
Sania- Can I talk to Zaib alone for a minute?
Everyone agreed and I followed Zaib out the room. I looked at him, thinking how to get the words out. Finally getting the courage, I opened my mouth to speak, but he beat me.
Zaib- Say yes Sania.
Sania- what?
Zaib- yes Dadu is close to both families, he's everybody's jaan; we have to do everything we can to make his maybe last wish come true
Sania- but I...
Zaib- look we don't have to have a husband-wife relationship, in front of everyone we'll act like we're in love and all that, but in the privacy of out room we'll be just be a guy and a girl forced into this relation. We won't have a physical relation that every couple does. I won't do anything to you without your permission so you don't have to worry about that.
He looks at Sania. He made his point. What mattered was dadu. I look at him and think really carefully about what he just said. It was what I wanted to tell him.
Sania- ok I agree that's what I wanted to tell you too.
They go back to the room and tell everyone that they agree to this marriage. The two families were really happy. But something was on Sania's mind, what about her college and her graduation which was in 3 weeks. Would they let her continue her studies? She will ask them later, now dadu was her first priority. Just then the doctor came into the room. Sania went to him the same time Zaib did.
S- Doctor when can we take dadu home?
D- Well Miss kapoor he needs to rest but I think he can leave in 3 days.
Z- Thanks doctor
The doctor leaves and we tell everybody the news. Mom and Naina aunty were talking about the marriage arrangements. They already had everything planned. The engagement will happen when dadu comes home, then mehandi rasam will take place and then the sangeet. And finally 1 and weeks later the wedding will take place. Everyone was excited, except me. I was thinking what will happen in the future.
No one's POV
Everybody left for home to start making arrangements. Three days went by so fast; everyone was so busy with the preparations. Sania went to get Dadu from the hospital alone. After 1 hour, they got home and the house was filled with guests, all welcoming dadu back home. Maithili dragged Sania to her room to get her ready. Today was her engagement. She got ready in a black sari with designs everywhere. Her hair was straight and fell down her back. Long black earrings were in her ears, and a black necklace around her neck. Her wrists were filled with bangles and black heels on her feet. She went down the stairs with Metz in a red lengha with everything matching. Sania talked and socialized with people for a while. She was talking to her dad's friend when Metz pulled her to the stage.
M- Everyone now sania will sing a song for us
Sania shook her head in a no and starts walking down the stage. Everyone groaned and told her to sing but she said no. She wasn't in the mood. She went to the backyard and sat in the swing. Deep in thought, she didn't even realize that Adi, Zaib and Metz were in front of her talking to her. Zaib snapped his fingers in front of her eyes and she looked up.
S- hey guys when did you get here?
A- like 5 minutes ago!
S- oh sorry I was thinking about something
Z- about what?
Sania looks at him and shakes her head getting up.
S- yeh zindagi bhi kitni ajeeb hoti hai na
M- kya matlab?
S- kab kya ho jaye pata hi nahi chalta humari puri zindagi badal jati hai bas ek pal mein
A- haan yeh toh hai lekin aaj tumhe kya hogaya
S- kuch bhi nahin
M- nahin kuch toh hua hai tum itni chup chup kabhi nahin rahti aur who bhi parties mein gane ke liye na nahin kahti
S- aaj nahin gaa sakti main aaj mood nahin hai
M- are yeh kya hua? Aaj tumhari engagement hai aur tumhara mood theek nahin hai?
S- yeh engagement is liye ho rahi hai kyun ki yeh dadu ki wish hai kudh ki marzi se nahin ho rahi yeh shaadi main bas 19 saal ki hoon itni jaldi shaadi ke bare mein chochta kaun hai?
The other three stay quiet as they knew she was right. Who thinks about marriage so soon? They walk back inside and soon Zaib n Sania exchange rings. They were now officially engaged. The week went by real fast. Sania was really quiet and withdrawn during that week. During the mehndi rasam, her mehndi was really really dark. When the ladies saw, they told her that her husband must really love her. Sania turned red as they teased her and just looked at Zaib and thought could her really love me this much if he ever does? And during her haldi/sangeet rasam there were many emotional scenes, one with Adi crying and hugging sania. Today was the wedding.
Reena came and dressed Sania in a red lengha. She was wearing matching accessories and looked really beautiful. Zaib was wearing red and gold shirvani. The wedding happened and Sania was now searching for her mom. She went to her parents room and saw her mom, dad, dadu, Zaib's parents and the doctor talking.
Dadu- thanks a lot for helping us with the whole thing Jay
Jay {doctor}- no problem it was my pleasure after all ur my friend
Reena- well dev have to admit u have a great mind
Dev- thanks reena it was pretty easy, when dilip told me that they wanted to make Zaib responsible I thought sania would be perfect for the job and that started the whole heart attack drama and dadu asking sania to marry Zaib. Must admit dad ur a good actor.
Dadu- thanks son but I feel bad for forcing those two into this
Dilip- its ok everything will be fine soon they'll start loving each other and Zaib will be responsible
Sania was shocked. She dropped her glass of coke and everyone turned at the sound and saw her. They all looked shocked and guilty. Dadu walked towards her but she walked backwards shaking her head.
S- All a lie, it was all a freaking lie
R- Beta we….
S- You what mom? U ruined my life
N- Sania beta humne ye sab kuch majburi main kiya hum toh bas zaib koh sudharna chate the
S- Aunty apne bete koh sudharne ke chakar mein apne meri zindagi barabd kar dhi main toh bus 19 saal ki hoon. Apne mujhe ek cheez samajh kar apne bete ke hath main daal diya aur mom dad dadu aap toh mere apne hokar bhi ye kiya mere saath
She walked back down the stairs with everyone following. She couldn't break the marriage now only some time after it took place. She would have to deal with the pain of her family's betrayal to her. She sat next to Zaib. He looked at her and saw her deep in thought.
Z- Are you okay??
S- Im fine just really tired
He smiled and went back to talking with his friends. Soon the bidai happened. Sania hugged her mom, dad, and Dadu for one second and did not say anything to them. She went up to Adi and looked at him. Giving a cry she ran into his arms and cried on his chest. Adi had tears running down his face landing on sania's head. They stayed like that for 5 minutes hugging each other with a tight grip. Adi raised Sania's head and looked at her. He smiled and wiped her tears. In return, she wiped his tears. He placed his hands palm side up. She smiled through her tears and placed her hands palm down on his. Then they switched and then they took their finger and poked the others nose. It was their signature, their friendship and bro/sis shake. He took her by her shoulders and made her sit in the car with Zaib. She cried as they left.
Zaib looked at her and put his arm around her. She hid her face in his chest and cried for a while then stopped. She stayed like that until they reached her new home. They got out and did the rice and the water kumkum thing. Metz and some other girls took her to Zaib's room. They teased her and then pushed in the room, closing the door behind her. The bed was decorated with rose petals everywhere and there were candles lit in the room to make the scene even more romantic.
She sat on the bed and placed her ghungat over her face. 5 minutes later Zaib was pushed into the room. She was nervous when he looked at her and was now really nervous when he starts walking towards her. He sat in front of her and took the ghungat off showing her face. Her eyes looked down at her hands. He smiles and raised her head. Their eyes meet and everything stops for a minute.
Z- we should go to sleep now
S- yea we should
They both get changed and fall asleep wondering what'll happen next.
