Chapter 8- Life's Small Ironies.

It was depressing really to think of it, Vicky Sir had tried SO HARD to crash our system, to destroy our lair. Our system? That was in vain, we had the entire system backed up on an external hard drive under my bed at the house. The lair? It was all stolen goods anyways, we stole it once…we'll steal it again. Why must the police be so dumb?

The fact that he attempted this was what made me mad. Oh, was I mad. I was calm and collected on the outside but on the inside, I wanted to twist Vicky Sir's guts into tiny little toffees. Millions of them, and then lace them with hemlock and distribute them among all his kind on Baker and Victoria. I was always creative, Aaliya told me. Even with my punishment. I mentally snickered.

"Don't do that." Angad said. I smiled innocently, "What?"

"You're thinking of things to do to that ACP." He said.

"Of course I'm not." I lied confidently. "I'm a very peaceful person." He chuckled in my face.

"Here." Aaliya handed me a wrapped item.

"What is that?" Angad asked, just as I had predicted him to.

"Oh c'mon, it's a TAMPON!" Aaliya exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. It was a good idea but not good enough for my bright-witted husband to not catch on. We had done this since grade school; it was clever on our parts and embarrassing on the male's.

"No, it's not. It's only the third." He said, taking the wrapper from her hand. He opened it, pulling it out. Supposedly, where the super-absorbent core was supposed to be, there laid glimmering silver stick.

"Since when do you keep track of our time of months?" I asked, snatching it away from him.

"Since I learned the fourteenth through twentieth is not time to be funny in this house, you two are scary." He said, shuddering falsely.

"Haha, funny. Aali, what's on here?" I looked at the memory stick. Aaliya winked at me. I stuck it into the business computer, which Old Faithful we called it, only took half and hour to restore back to normal. AutoPlay was on and pictures flashed on the screen. Drug deals, sweet. And in plain view, stood Vicky Sir, holding a briefcase of what I presume was black money. Next picture showed him with some woman on his lap, who I can bet my left kidney on that wasn't his wife. The pictures went on, showing various deeds that were OBVIOUSLY illegal being done by ours truly, ACP Vikrant Gujraal.

"Aaliya, what would I do without you?" I said, pulling the memory stick. She shrugged, "Not much."

"So blackmail is what you're going to do? It's a weak plan…" Angad started, holding onto my waist. I glanced over my shoulder in anger. "It's not my plan, it's the first step." He spun me to face him gracefully.

"And you know what his first step is...destroying this little house of ours."

"Then we should move." He clicked his tongue and shook his head.

"Then he'll work to turn each of us against the other." I tried not to think of what I'd do alone. I was too used to it. I was worried for Aaliya; she always had either Angad or me. She was the baby in our little family, always protected.

"Then one by one, he'll kill each of us. Chances are, I go first."

"Angad!" I said, instinctively putting my hand over his mouth. "If anyone, I go first. That way, I get to die a married woman." I smiled a bit, sometimes I sounded like such a typically Bharatya Nari.

"Shut up, Kripa." Angad and Aaliya said at once. I laughed at them.

"Neither of you guys is allowed to die until you both get my grandkids married." Aaliya said.

"You guys, I just thought of something."

"That we should all split up and live separately?" Angad mused, reading my mind. I hated how he did that, 9 out of 10 times I ever got caught was because of him being able to read me like a book, but that went both ways…I could read him pretty well too. He was about to ridicule my idea on so many bases.
"Yes, that too. But I was thinking…" I smirked.
