stupid angad, you believe kelly more then your wife, who stood by your side from day one...who loved you so much...who changed herself completely with the help of you and your love....damnit he....angad your a stupid idiot....the proof is there...kelly is the one after this....stupid idiot, understand that for people in love use this saying a lot, "everythings fair in love and war"....dummy think she actually did this...stupid angad...trusting someone more then kripa....update soon i want angad to repent for what he said 😡

NEXT MORNING:

Angad was not surprised to see that Kripa had woken up early. He remembered the events of the night before and kicked himself for what he had said in anger. He had been all stressed out by the case and then the Kelly angle had wrecked him completely. Kripa had a reason to be upset; he heaved a sigh and got out of bed. Kripa was on the kitchen table sorting out the mail and sipping her morning coffee.

Angad walked to the table and sat down beside her. He lowered his eyes in guilt and remained silent. Kripa looked up but did not acknowledge his presence or ask him for coffee.

"I am sorry about last night Kripa," he finally broke the silence.

She did not answer.

Angad knew it would take a lot for her to forgive him this time.

"Kripa…I am sorry….main," he started again, but saw a little tear escape her eye as she paid the bills for the month.

"Please don't cry jaan…..main sach much bahut sharminda hoon," he begged.

Kripa got up after paying the bills and filed all the paper work neatly.

"Damn it! Can you say something Kripa?" Angad yelled.

"Jo bolna tha tum kal raat sab tho bol chuke, ab kya sun na reh gaya hai?" she said cynically.

"You know Kripa, I was very upset last night…..gusse mein kabhie kabhie insaan bina soche samjhe bol
d eta hai," Angad defended himself.

"Kya gusse par haq sirf tumhara hi hai?" she shot back

"Kripa…Kripa…..please baby…..don't do this to me…..of course tumhey naaraz hone ka poora haq hai…….but please look at things from my perspective…..Kelly has been a friend for a long time……how would you react if someone tried to blame your best friend for betraying you? Would you believe it?" Angad asked.

Kripa looked at him tearfully and said, "Angad….at this point I am not sure who is a friend and who is not."

Angad held her hand between his hands and kissed it tenderly, "Kripa…..Kelly is just a friend…..but you are my life…..tum mere jeene ki wajah ho…..meri zindagi ho…..tumhara aur Kelly ka koi muqabla nahin hai…..so please sweetheart don't take my words to heart…..I was just upset last night and when one is upset, we usually hurt the people we love the most……sorry jaan," he came closer and moved the hair falling on her face and kissed her tears falling on her cheeks, "agar tum na hoti, tho mujhey jeene ki chaah hi nahin hoti ab…..you are my reason to live…..my reason to defend myself in this case."

Kripa calmed down and wiped her tears, "let me get ready….aaj court kitne baje jaana hai?" she asked.

Angad smiled a little, relieved that she had probably forgiven him, "Kripa….what if you did not go today?"

Kripa gave him an angry look, "tum mujhsey wo haq nahin cheen sakte!"

"I know Kripa…but it concerns me that you get upset every time something unpredictable happens…..I can't see you suffer like that," Angad tried to reason with her.

"Angad…I happen to have married an unpredictable man……so unpredictability is a part of my life now……ek baat batao……yadi aisa koi case mujhpar chal raha hota tho kya tum mujhey akele chhod dete?" She sniffled and wiped her nose as she asked.

Angad hugged her and kissed her forehead, "kabhie nahin…..theek hai chalo…..ho sakta hai aaj tumhey hi testify karna padhe."

AT THE COURT:

The second day of the hearing was a tough day for Angad and Kripa.

The first person summoned in for testifying was none other than Ms Mishti Sharma. She was one of the main witnesses for the prosecution.

After Mishti took her oath, the lawyer for the plaintiffs, Mr Hawkins initiated the deposition by her.

Mr Hawkins: So, Ms Mishti Sharma….how long have you known the defendant?

Mishti gave a dirty and evil look at Angad: About a year and half or so

Mr Hawkins: Have you worked with him closely

Mishti: Yes, we have done various ad campaigns together.

Mr Hawkins: Did Mr Khanna ever try to lure you with his sexual advances in exchange for more assignments or more work?

Kripa was visibly uncomfortable with the question. Angad just clenched his fists and teeth in anger; he had heard that line several times since yesterday; Mishti was the last person on the earth he wanted to be talking about him.

Mishti: Absolutely sir! All the time…..I resisted his advances for a while, but then he convinced me to go out on a date with him.

Angad was furious with Mishti- she was lying through her teeth. Mishti was the first one who showed interest in him and then invited him over to The Hamptons!

Mr Hawkins: So, did Mr Angad Khanna try to touch you inappropriately or say something to you which made you uncomfortable?

Mishti: Of course he did! He was notorious for luring all the models and employees in the company with his sweet and amorous talk! He promised me better ad assignments if I….if I satisfied his needs…..

Angad shut his eyes in anger and almost ripped the arm rest of his chair. Kripa wanted to walk out at that very moment, but swallowed her anger and remained seated.

Mr Hawkins: Well…looks like the story is pretty consistent with the story of my clients also…..I would like the jury to pay attention to this pattern…..Mr Angad Khanna is a compulsive sexual harasser…..he has made it a habit of forcing his co-workers into satisfying his needs by threatening them, harassing them and blackmailing them!

Mishti smiled slyly and stared at Angad and Kripa. Kripa wanted to bury herself somewhere; she had never felt so humiliated in her life.

Mr Hawkins: Ms Sharma….looks like Mr Khanna is actually related to you now….is that right?

Mishti: Yes Mr Hawkins….he is unfortunately my brother-in-law. Once he could not get his way with me, he trapped my sister with his craftiness…..she foolishly fell in love with him and married him! I warned my sister to stay away from this sick man, but she was blindly in love with him and ignored my warnings! He promised to help her become an actress and she fell in his trap.

Mr Hawkins: Why do you think he married your sister? After all, marriage could put a halt to his harassing behaviors.

Mishti: Well, Mr Hawkins….he never married my sister for love! He was attracted to my dad's wealth! And he has never stopped harassing women in our company…..of course he never bothered me again as I had threatened to expose him…..but I have seen him harass Simone, Kathy and Michelle repeatedly, even though he is married to my sister!

Kripa looked away and closed her eyes; she tried best to hide her tears as her sister kept lying repeatedly under oath.

Finally, Shabbir stood up to interrogate Mishti
Shabbir: Ms Mishti Sharma…..is it true that you invited my client, Mr Khanna to your parent's house in The Hamptons while you were still dating Mr Khanna?

Mishti: Huh? Oh…yes….it was a long weekend last summer and Angad wanted to go out somewhere for the weekend, that is why I invited him.

Shabbir: So YOU INVITED HIM! He did not invite himself, or threaten you….or force you! Is that right?

Mishti was a little taken aback, " Oh…well….I guess…it is one and the same thing…..I was scared to upset him."

Shabbir: OK…let us assume you wanted to please him…..then in that case, you would have really 'satisfied' his needs at The Hamptons?

Mishti: NO…nothing like that ever happened…..he developed appendicitis!

The courtroom broke out into laughter.

Shabbir: Well….that would have been your chance to please him even more….I bet you took care of him when he was sick…..I am sure Mr Khanna would have felt obligated to you and would have given you any ad assignment you desired at that moment? Hmm?

Mishti was dumbfounded, "Oh…well….well," she looked at Kripa, who was glaring at her with fire in her eyes, "I…actually….I could not stay back…..so my sister took care of him."

Shabbir gave her a sharp look, "You could not stay back…..I guess…..you wanted to please someone else in the company at that time….and that is why you were able to get a large and prestigious assignment in Miami? Is that right Ms Sharma?"

Mishti: Mr Khan! I got that assignment based on my talent…..not because I did a favor to someone.

Mr Hawkins, the prosecutor lawyer tried to intervene and object, but his objection was overruled by the judge.

Shabbir: Yes….you are probably right….I have proof of your allegiance with the creative director of that assignment…..here are the photographs and hotel room bills from Miami…..in other words, you slept with him in order to step over another model who was supposed to do that project!

Mishti was astounded; she had no idea where they got all that information.

Shabbir smiled at the jury and said, "I hope the jury would pay attention to the credibility of the prosecutor witness, Ms Sharma. As far as we can tell, Ms Mishti Sharma herself has been involved in CONSENSUAL relationships with many employees at Creative advertising to advance her own career. Her charges against my client, Mr Khanna are, therefore, baseless and do not prove that Mr Khanna sexually harassed her or for that matter any other woman in the company."

The poker faced jury just took down notes and remained silent.

Kripa and Angad gave Shabbir an appreciative glance; Mishti's credibility was certainly questionable after Shabbir had exposed her true colors.

Kripa was next summoned to testify. Shabbir let Mr Hawkins interrogate her first.

Kripa looked at Angad for moral support. Angad just nodded his head and blinked his eyes to wish her luck.

Mr Hawkins: So Ms Kripa Khanna….were you aware of your husband's womanizing nature when you married him?

Kripa: Yes I was!

Mr Hawkins: And you still married him? Isn't that strange that a respectable and traditional Indian woman like you would end up marrying a man like Mr Khanna?

Kripa: No it is not!

Mr Hawkins was getting a little impatient with Kripa's short and brusque replies.

Mr Hawkins: I mean..a woman like you would probably marry a respectable man….may be even an arranged marriage…isn't that common in your culture?

Shabbir objected to the prosecutor's discriminatory and biased comments and the judge asked Mr Hawkins to refrain from any culturally biased statements.

Kripa: I married Angad because I loved him and still do….

Mr Hawkins: Even if he married you for your dad's wealth.

Kripa: Mr Hawkins, people who stay up to date with the news, would probably know that there was a recent real estate crash in the market; as a result my dad lost most of his savings and investments…..and Angad is still married to me!

The courtroom broke out in a little chuckle again.

Mr Hawkins cleared his throat, "Well Ms Khanna….is it true that your husband secretly took photographs of you for a modeling assignment? He took you to India for the sole purpose of shooting an assignment called Namaste India, but deceived you into thinking it was a vacation?"

Kripa hesitated and glanced at Angad. He was looking at her expectantly; she knew the jury would judge Angad's character based on her statement, but at the same time she could not lie under oath!

She shuffled her feet a little and rubbed her palm with her fingers, "Mr Hawkins….I am sure someone who loves you dearly must have thrown a surprise birthday party or something for you at some point? They probably took you to the party venue under some other pretext, but later you were surprised that the party was actually thrown for you? Would you call that deception by a loved one?"

Some of the jury members had a faint smile at Kripa's witty answer. Angad had tears in his eyes as he tried to smile at her answer- he had the smartest and wittiest wife in this world! No wonder she wanted to become a lawyer at one point!

Mr Hawkins tried to regain his composure, "Well….I would like to point out to the jury that Mr Khanna has a nagging habit of secretly photographing his models without their knowledge….just like he did for Ms Kripa Sharma…and now has photographed my clients, Simone, Kathy and Michelle….the difference being that his wife's photographs helped her become a Bollywood actress but Mr Khanna intended to sell my client's photographs to a famous po*n magazine, the PLAYBOY magazine if his demands for sexual favors were not met!

Shabbir got up and looked at Mr Hawkins in the eye, "Aren't we comparing apples with oranges? In his wife's case, he wanted to pleasantly surprise her, who was neither a model nor an actress…he just wanted the world to know how beautiful his wife was?…..And we have no proof that my client, Angad Khanna secretly took pictures of your clients so he could threaten to sell them if his demands were not met. Those pictures were indeed found on his computer at the office, but as our expert computer analyst has shown us, they could have been planted and back dated by anyone who is an expert at computers….in fact Ms Simone Pathak is considered the computer guru at their office….she is the one who worked most closely with Mr Khanna over the last few months…..she could probably hack into any computer…..she is that good!"

The courtroom broke out into a chuckle once again.

Mr Hawkins ignored Shabbir's comments and glanced at Kripa again, "So his pictures helped you become an actress….is that why you are defending Mr Khanna? Is that why you are covering up for his weaknesses?"

Kripa gave the prosecutor a sharp look, "I am not defending my husband because he helped me become an actress, rather I HAVE CHOSEN TO BECOME AN ACTRESS SO I CAN DEFEND HIM! I am sure you are aware of the legal costs in this country…..they are sky high thanks to lawyers like you who love to litigate innocent people like us!" she was almost in tears as she said that. There was a silence in the courtroom- Kripa had obviously spoken the truth but she was taken away from the stand for showing disrespect to the legal system of the US of A.

The jury, however, silently agreed with Kripa and thought, "no wonder we get called for jury duty time and again because of these greedy lawyers! What do we get? Time away from our family and $10 a day for transportation!"

Shabbir was very pleased with Kripa's testimony. She was honest, spoke from her heart and had hopefully convinced the jury that Angad was a different person than he was portrayed out to be. So far, no one had been able to prove that he had actually harassed the 3 women…..no one had proved that he did indeed take those sensitive pictures…..they were all co incidences…..the jury needed evidence and so far it was just their word against his…..so the decision might end up resting on the credibility of the witnesses rather than any solid proof!

…to be contd…(more witnesses next chapter….will they help or harm Angad's case???)

oh God please let the new witnesses help the case, loved how Angad made up with Kripa, and Kripa's testimony in the courtroom was very touching very moving and true to that people end up doing things for their loved ones which otherwise they may have never considered. Continue soon please.
