PART 24:

NEXT FEW WEEKS:

Angad and Kripa settled into a good routine as neighbors. They started their day together exercising together in the park, often met for lunch near Angad's office, and then spent most evenings with each other. Mishti had moved in with Kripa, but in between her shooting assignments, photo sessions, travel and love life, she barely spent any time with her sister.

Kripa spoke to her parents regularly, but had not gone back to visit them since her move. Dilip often had work in the city, and would stop by to meet his daughters in the day. Naina was too busy with her social life, to venture out into the city!

The regular exercise routine, eating normal portions of food, and her inner happiness did wonders to Kripa's external beauty and charm. Angad even took her to his hairdresser, a very talented woman; she gave Kripa a trendy, slightly wavy, shoulder length hairstyle (kinda like Mahi in Maayka as a model).

Angad continued to take casual photographs of Kripa – whether they were out in the park, restaurant, museum, coffee shop, cruise on the Hudson river, at home…….everywhere.

Kripa loved the way Angad's eyes admired her beauty- she saw herself through his eyes now, and fell in love with herself for the first time in her life! She realized that her love for Angad was deeper than she ever thought. She would get restless if she did not see him for a few days. Angad, was the same way, except he was still in denial about his true feelings for Kripa.

Prithvi had moved to the city too, but found an apartment on the south side, far from Kripa's upper Manhattan apartment. Kripa was relieved that she would not have to bump into him more frequently. Prithvi called her regularly; Kripa relented a few times and met him in the city for coffee or a few drinks. Angad, of course, knew that Kripa was meeting Prithvi, but since he knew Kripa's opinion about the surgeon, he did not feel threatened by him anymore- why should I feel threatened anyways…..Kripa is free to see and meet whom she wants….after all she is not my girlfriend. Despite appearing nonchalant about Prithvi's meetings with Kripa, he made sure that he called her at least 2 or 3 times while she was with Prithvi, reminding her about trivial details like, "Kripa, do you mind picking up some milk for me on the way…..Oh I forgot to tell you about this new movie……"

Prithvi would get irritated by Angad's constant interruptions, but had no choice. Usually, Kripa ended up chatting with Angad on the phone for a while; Prithvi was still patient though especially since Naina was on his side!

At one point, Angad tried to date women himself, thinking that he should carry on his life as usual. Most women never wanted to go back on a date with him, as he never encouraged any intimacy with them, and loved to talk about 'this friend of mine…her name is Kripa!'

Angad became a 'boring' guy for most women. He became more efficient at work, as he stopped wasting time flirting with his colleagues and models; he wanted to rush home after work and get a quick bite or go out for a movie with Kripa. His boss, Carl was very pleased with him, as Angad had no problem meeting his deadlines anymore.

One day, Kripa received an unusually friendly call from her mom.

Naina: "Beti tujhey dekhey kitne din ho gaye…..kabhie ghar tho aa ja."
Kripa almost choked with tears; it had been ages since Naina had called her 'beti' so affectionately.

Kripa: "Haan mom…zaroor aaoongi….aap itne pyaar se bulaayengi tho zaroor aaoongi."

Naina: "Main iss Saturday ko end of the summer pool side party kar rahi hoon….main chaahti hoon ki meri dono pyaari betiyaan wahan ho."

Pyaari beti? Kripa almost had a heart attack when she heard her mom call her pyaari beti.

Kripa: "Sure mom….kuch help chaahiye tho main Friday ko hi aa jaati hoon."

Naina: "Tumhara ghar hai…jab chaaho aa jaana….Mishti bhi aa rahi hai, mainey usey bhi bol diya hai."

Kripa: "Mom…main apne dost Angad ko bhi invite kar sakti hoon?"

Naina: "Oh..Oh…wo photographer? Haan…haan…usey bhi le aana….aur kehna apna camera zaroor le aaye."

Kripa: "Ok mom…..main Angad ke saath hi aa jaaoongi….see you on Saturday….love you mom!" she added that in the end

Naina: "Yeah..yeah…me too…see you then."

Kripa had tears of joy in her eyes, "kya mom sach much mujhey itna miss kar rahi hain? I am so happy now….I have to tell Angad."

Naina hung up and dialed another number, "Hello Prithvi beta? Haan main Naina bol rahi hoon….Saturday ko apni mama ke saath aa jaana….hum wahin tumhari aur Kripa ki engagement announce kar dengey…..Damini se kehna shagun le kar aaye….he..he."
