Beneath The Covers...
"Emma will you hurry up?" Kripa cried, running out of her friends tiny apartment.
"Yah Im coming" Emma cried, on the other side of the building
They were both going out for coffee, it had been so long, after Kripa's marriage that the two friends had bonded.
Emma grabbed her purse, and pushed Kripa out the door, and out of her way, to lock the door from the outside
"Lets go" She cried, trying to get her stuff organized, before everything went crashing onto the floor
Kripa smiled, "Hun, you need help, and tips"
Emma gave her a weird look.
"I said lets go" Emma, told again, walking ahead of her friend this time.
* * *
They entered the coffee house, it smelled so nice.
"Kripa there" Emma said pointing towards a table, beside a window, from where the snow, could be seen falling, gently onto the ground.
They both took their places, and ordered there food.
"Hey Kripa" Emma called trying to snap her friend out of her thoughts.
"Uh, Ya?" Kripa said looking up
"What's wrong, why you so drifted"
"Oh,.. its nothing"Kripa picked up her mug, and took a sip.
"Yah right,Kripa, tell me, I can see it all over your face, something's bugging you"
Kripa sighed
"It's, just that.."
"Its just that?" Emma repeated
"Piya"
"What about Piya?'
"She doesn't like me,atleast it seems that way."
"What, why, how do you know?''Emma asked confused
"You just know these kind of things"Kripa said looking at her friend.
Emma placed her hand over, Kripa's which was still covered with Mendhi, dark, very dark, and her arms with her wedding bangles, that convered a quarter of her arm.Anybody could tell that she was just married, days ago.
"Something happened?"
"We went to Angad's house for dinner, last night. She seemed to leave me out constantly."
"From what?" Emma seemed confused, as her friend told her, her story looking straight, at nothing. Like most people do while they're thinking, without blinking once.
"All the conversations, she would start, she would talk to Angad, and it was way to obvious she didn't want my say in it" she said as she noticed the snow was falling harder now.
"Kripa, its just you, just because you hate most people you know, doesn't mean its like that for everyone else"
They both smiled, at the last comment. Kripa knew she was like that. People always said she had way to much atitude, infact even Emma had told her once, on their prom night, when Kripa was ready to get into a fist fight, with a girl who she 'thought' was trying to flirt with her man, or in other words her date for that night.
They continued on with they're talk, when Emma noticed something.
"Kripa" she said, squeezing her hand tight. While looking at something behind Kripa
Kripa turned her head around to find Abhi, Abhishek Chopra, her ex-boyfriend. The one she was suppose to marry.
Kripa turned around again now facing Emma
"Emma, what am I suppose to do now?"
"Nothing, just calm down"she said calming down herself, after all her and Abhi had been friends once, too.
How could she calm down, when the love of her life was standing behind her, knowing that she, herself had betrayed him and left him broked hearted Kripa thought
"Dont, worry he's not coming here, he's here for business, there are other men with him"
Kripa calmed down, and could feel her heart-rate go back to normal.
She couldnt think of Abhi now, not after Angad, had been keeping her so happy, he was practically spoilliing her. She had never had so much fun talking and interacting with some with someone, before, she married Angad. They knew eachother so well. Even though he didn't love her, she still couldn't betray him, and his trust by talking to Abhi, and tellling him even think something like that is going on between them.
Kripa snapped out of her thought, and looked at her friend who was now on the phone with someone, pracitcally yelling, it had to be one of those nervy businessman talking about a deal, they cant follow through up on anymore.Kripa didn't understand as to why did Emma, agree to help out Jay with his business, it was all nonsense.
"Emma your practically yelling, calm down" Kripa said looking at Emma now, trying to signal that people were looking at them.
"Sorry" she said placing a hand over the mouth of the phone."Ill be right back" and with that she left, towards the entrance of the building.Kripa kept herself busy with a magazine. The magazine was about a girl's everyday life, routine, and the 'dont's' and 'do's' It was interesting, Kripa concluded, and flipped the page to read more, when she felt someone fill Emma's seat once again.
"Emma that was long" She said, not looking up yet. When Emma didn't answer her, she looked up to find, Abhi. Shocked out of her mind, she looked at him,
"Abhi?"
"Glad you still remember my name" he said dryly, looking straight at her.
Kripa felt a pool of guilt run throughout her body, she placed her hand over, his, that was already resting on the table, and gave it a light squeeze.
"Abhi you have no idea what happened, I didn't mean to ditch you like that-" before she could continue, he started
"I dont care Kripa, I just dont. All I know is that, I have everything, I once wanted, to keep you happy after marriage. The whole world know's that the marriage between you and Angad, isnt of love, but is farce and meaningless."
"Dont say that Abhi" Kripa said, sounding hurt from his words
"It does mean something" she replied, to him in full confidence.
"Oh, yea" he said," Then whats that?" he said gesturing to something behind Kripa.
Kripa turned her head and found Angad walking in with a girl, a girl? It was Beth. What on earth would he be doing here with Beth? What was she, herself doing here with Abhi? It was all a mess.
"Abhi, I think you should leave"
"Kripa..."
"Just leave" she replied, resting her head onto her plams.Confused
Where was Emma, she didn't want to be here right now, she wanted to leave. Here she was thinking that she had to be faithful to him. Yea right she thought now, faithful my left foot.
They were laughing now. She looked over at the table Angad and Beth were at. How could he do this. She wasn't hurt that he was with her. She was hurt that he had never mentioned that he was going to go and see her today, or ever. It wasn't like she would have refused. Discusting she thought. The man was discusting.
Emma walked back to their table
"These idiotic.." She looked up at Kripa, who was looking somewhere towards the other end of the coffee shop
"Kripa what is it?" she said following her gaze.
"Is that Angad?" Emma asked confused, as to who he was with." And who's with him?" she asked sounding worried for her friend
"Beth" Kripa replied dryly"
"Isnt that..." Emma started
"His ex-girlfriend, who he was planning on proposing to and marrying" she was still looking at them,in utter discust.
"Oh, Kripa" Emma said, bring her hand upto Kripa's shoulder
"I cant believe him, I mean I never refused for him to meet her, then why hadn't he mentioned anything about her, to me" Kripa asked sounding confused now.
"Lets go Kripa" Now Emma looked discusted.
They both left the coffee shop to home, Kripa stayed at Emma's for the rest of the day. She didn't now if she wanted to face Angad just yet.
* * *
Kripa put her book down, with a sigh.Did these thinga actually happen.' Dream Man' was a book, that would make any girl go gaga. But in reality, love didn't come so easily, and in her case it was trust, she had problems with.
Where could he be? It was eight already, and he still wasn't home. She flipped the channels, nothing was on, atleast nothing she found too amazing. It was raining outside. Really hard. With a little snow. Wet snow, you could call it
Before she could turn the light of the table lamp off, the door opened, and in stepped, Angad.
"Hey Kripa" he said, entering the room, while removing his jacket, that was soaked, from outside." Its getting real nasty out there"
"Pretty nasty inside here aswell, since your here" He looked at her, What was wrong now?
"Kripa you ok?" He asked worried, as to what her answer might be
"No, actually I'm not"Kripa replied, standing up."Angad, as far as I know, all relationship's need honesty, and trust, even friendships, like me and you have."
"Yea, Kripa I know, but.." He said running his hand up and down her arm, that was crossed against her chest.
She turned around, she wasn't sure she was ready to have physical contact with him, right now.
"No, first here me out Angad, then you can say whatever you have to in, defense" she said placing a hand infront of herself, to stop him from coming any closer.
"You were with Beth today?" she looked up at him, expecting him to clarify
"Yah, I was"he answered casually, like he didn't care, what she had to say about it
"And you didn't think, of telling me once?"Kripa asked getting angry at his clam behavior
"Why would I need to tell you?"he asked confused, getting angry himself now
"Were married, for gods sake"
This time he turned her around
"Were not having an affair, you dont need to worry"
" I thought you knew better" She said with disbelief With that she left the room.
What was wrong with her? He wasn't going to do anything to hurt her.
He was wrong when he thought their relationship was different, every woman was the same, doubt was something that was written in their gene's. With that he tugged of his t-shirt, and crawled into bed, thinking what had gotten into Kripa, and fell asleep, like that.
