For those of you who don't know I did edit the intro (i.e. my first post on
pg1) and Angad is Ria's elder brother and Manthan's best friend. He is in
London. Unfortunatley there will be know Kripa in this ff and even
Angad's role is strictly limited. This is a Manthan ff. Hope that's clear. And
now getting to the point - here is the next part. I don't think I've met your
expectations after all that wait. But this part was neccesairy for the story
to progress. The coming parts will definitley be more interesting. I
promise.
Part 2
The next day Ria came to Shantiniketan with the few belongings she had
bought from London. You don't really expect a girl to pack her whole life
when she's trying to run away from home do you? She was introduced to
almost all the family members by Tulsi and had instantly liked them all.
The only family member she still had to meet was Manthan who as
expected didn't show up to breakfast which the whole family had together
no matter what. Manthan hardly had breakfast and when he did he'd have
it in his room alone.
Soon the men had left for work while the younger generation had
departed for Uni. Ria had been asked to stay back by Tulsi who didn't
approve of Ria going to Uni by bus. Despite Ria's continuous attempts to
change her mind Tulsi insisted that Manthan would take her. They were in
the same Uni after-all. Him and Archita were the only other two Virani
kids who attended the same Uni as Ria. She wasn't keen on going with
Manthan though. She hadn't even met the guy! Her mother had always
told her don't judge a book by it's cover but Ria just couldn't help herself.
Besides she never did listen to her mother. From what she had heard from
KT, Joydeep and Archita during breakfast Manthan wasn't a very pleasant
person to be around.
Almost an hour later Manthan Virani finally made his way down dressed in
baggy Jeans and a t-shirt looking hotter than ever. He found Tulsi literally
fuming angrily on the sofa while a girl sat besides her whom he had never
seen before.
"Manthan. Yeh waqt hain neeche ane kah. We've been waiting for the past
hour!" Tulsi shouted.
"And why have you been waiting?" Manthan asked rudely making Ria
despise him even more.
"We have been waiting because Manthan this is Ria Baa's new part-time
nurse who'll be staying with us. She goes to the same Uni as you and I
want you to give her a lift since I don't approve of her going by bus. Do
you understand?" Tulsi explained as she paced the Virani's living room.
"Whatever! I'm waiting in the car" he said not caring a bit.
After Manthan left the room Tulsi explained to Ria that Manthan was like
that by nature and wasn't bad at heart. But this wasn't enough to reassure
Ria. She then walked her to the car and watched them drive off. She
wanted to make sure that Manthan actually took Ria but was still afraid he
might end up leaving her stranded somewhere on the way. That was
Manthan for you - unpredictable. But that was what made him exciting
and made girls drool over him. YES! The girls loved him, the guys hated
him and he was by far the most coolest guy not only at his University but
also in town. Manthan wanted to become a photographer and had already
done a couple of assignments that had been huge successes. He however
did take full advantage of his father's name whenever he got the chance.
And that was usually the reason people would hire him and Manthan
didn't care. If he couldn't get the love he deserved from his father he'd at
least use the name he had already been given.
The car ride to their Uni wasn't anything special. The two hardly spoke. As
a matter of fact they didn't speak at all. Upon reaching their Uni Manthan
didn't even turn to see if Ria was okay and just left for his first class.
Usually Manthan didn't show up to class on time but today he wanted to
anywhere but near Ria. Even if it meant showing up to class early. He had
disliked her immediately for no reason whatsoever. It wasn't that she
wasn't pretty because she was extremely beautiful. You could even say
she was hot. She had a decent body as well and wouldn't look half bad
with him. It wasn't that she wasn't classy because Manthan hadn't
bothered to find out about her family background nor had he made an
attempt to see how intelligent she really was. He had just hated her
without a reasonable reason to.
The day went by and Manthan and Ria didn't even run into each other
accidently. But that was expected since Manthan was an art student while
Ria was a science one. And the Art and Science departments were
practically at two different ends of the world just like these two were
when you looked at their likes, dislikes, hobbies and their personalities
on a whole.
Ria liked everything to be nice and neat. Organized in one word. She
hated pessimistic people since she herself was quite an optimistic person.
In her free time she read. Even when she had been living in London Ria
had been quite active in helping charities. There hadn't been a single
protest or demonstration she had missed. She believed in living for the
people around her rather than herself.
Manthan on the other hand was a messy guy as well as a lazy one. He had
been forced to become the pessimistic person he had become by his
father's ill treatment towards him. Manthan Virani played football in his
free time. He believed that in this world everyone was left alone to fight
for themselves. Trust was something he didn't believe existed. He never
attended the charity dinners his family was invited to regularly let alone
supporting those charities.
Despite being in the same University and living in the same house it
doesn't look as if these two will be crossing each other's paths anytime
soon. But then again who knows what might happen changing things
forever!
