Part12:-
He was the last mortal on earth whom she had been expecting. It was like even the Gods were condescending her. But seeing him rejuvenated her. All the exhaustion began ebbing away at just one glance of his. She had not yet had dinner. She felt annoyance and irritation gushing down her veins. Talk of being confused and crazy. How could someone be refreshed as well as angry at the sight of the same person? She as if under a hypnotic spell shut the door and walked towards him with a dazzled look. She couldn't believe that he practically kissed her on the cheek. Shaking her head to bring herself back into her senses she observed him throwing his backpack at one corner and falling on the bed.
"Where's the washroom?"
Mum, having not yet recovered from the shock she faintly pointed towards the right. By the time he came back she was once again the same old Kripa.
"Ahem, So?"
"So???"
"It has been an unpleasant surprise."
"Really. Are you sure?"
"Why? Don't you trust me? Please do. It has to be one of the most important attributes between us. Especially in our line of work. Anyways had dinner?"
"You're not used to being around people like me are you? He asked. The small grin playing around his lips did not mock her.
"Hey. I'm always around you people."
He approached her until he was barely a hands distance away.
Taking a deep breath he said, "You don't order royalty, you make polite suggestions."
"Well Mr. Angad Joshua William Sampath Khanna, you aren't a complete noble. And anyways you are now living in a democratic country. Monarchy has long since become extinct. "
'I'm flattered Ms. Kripa Sharma. You were so intrigued and charmed by my charming personality that you investigated my background."
Kripa blushed and gave him a furious look.
"Don't give me that look Krips darling. After all I am your better half."
In response Kripa asked, "Have you eaten?"
"You can put that in a better way, sweetu!!!!"
"Sweetu, uggh what kind of name is that. Anyways then let me ask you in your language – Your Highness, it might be of use to your health, comfort and physical well being to partake a bit of nourishment. So please if you haven't let us proceed or else go to hell."
"Not bad, but a bit overdone. Stick close and you will learn the right way."
"You never do give a straight reply, do you?"
"To you, No. After all you are my darling wife. You ought to know me better than anyone else, what say baby?" He winked.
Kripa was fuming all this while. She was not one bit amused. She was utilizing every bit of her will power to suppress the urge to strangle him. She picked up all the cushions and started throwing them at Angad. Angad evaded most of them and some even burst open. The feathers spread beautifully on the floor and Angad to tease her said-
"Wow, what a distinct pattern" and burst out laughing.
She had almost lost control when she heard his roaring voice when his and her stomach rumbled loudly answering her earlier asked query. There was an awkward pause and silence enveloping the room which was suddenly broken by their laughter. They started laughing so badly and almost rolled around the floor.
Kripa was the first to come under control. Standing up she walked among the mess they had made to the telephone across the room imitating a model's style and tossing her wet hair. She called up the reception and ordered dinner for both of them without asking Angad's choice.
"And I'm suppose to be the prince and the person in-charge over here", Angad stated at which Kripa grinned. She was one in a million, he supposed. He had worked with many girls before but Kripa was a unique.
An odd one out in the spectrum of girls he had met and worked with. None of them possessed the looks, figure, attitude and body language which Kripa was the proud owner of.
There was a large leather sofa in one corner of the room. Soon after dinner, Kripa changed into her nightgown at Angad's orders. He was after all her senior and he had muttered a fact about getting up when someone came in a kurta -pajama to be highly appropriate after all they were their under a pretense of being married while he himself changed into a much comfortable pair of cotton night suit.
Kripa had always slept in a pair of shorts and spaghetti top and thereby sleeping in a gown disturbed her. It was loose and the strap slipped every few seconds. Finally getting fed up she asked Angad and he replied in the positive much to her surprise. She was surprised that he gave in so soon. She was expecting an argument.
'Maybe he's not so bad', she thought and then shocked at her own thinking.
This had been one weird day full of surprises. Angad was in no time on the couch snuggled under the blankets while Kripa slowly got into bed. They had decided to talk about work the next day.
----------
It was the knock on the door that woke up the couple. Angad stretched lazily while Kripa just blinked. Kripa reached the door first and opened it to reveal a waiter on the other end asking her about their stay and want of any accessories and necessaries.
Kripa was almost going to decline when Angad came and hugged her from behind. Then placing his head on her shoulder which had tensed and loosened at his mere touch, he said, "No, Thank you. I have got the most important necessity of my life right in my arms. What more can a man want, Right sweetu?"
This was followed by a wink due to which Kripa blushed unknowingly but yet angry at him for calling her 'sweetu'.
He continued ignoring her stare,
"But yes, could you refill our flask with lukewarm water. We would prefer it to the chilled water you provide"
Kripa made a mental note to kill him when they were alone. She hated lukewarm water.
'Dumb ass' she muttered under her breath.
The waiter by this time had walked in and was amazed at the room's condition.
Before leaving the room he said informally "Looks like you guys had fun last night."
