Chapter 32

Everyone attention is captured by Surya Sharma's deafening voice. Everyone turns to see Dilip Khanna joining him on stage along with Naina and Gayatri. The four gather around Surya as he speaks to his audience, "Thank You Angad for singing that lovely song, once again you touched our hearts." Angad nods as everyone applauds his performance once again. He glances towards Kripa for a second and sees her looking towards him as well. Surya then continues, "And now, I want to thank you all for attending both my daughters 21^st birthday along with my son's 22^nd birthday. They are all the apples of mine and Gayatri's eye. We love them to bits. And right now I would like to invite to the stage Kripa, Prachi, and Kavya… along with Dilip's children; Angad, Neev and Anjali." The gang looks at each other in confusion and awkwardness. They all slowly approach the stage one by one, without a clue as to what they were doing there in the first place. Kripa keeps her eyes on Angad, whereas he keeps avoiding her gaze.

Finally when the children are all on stage, Dilip takes the microphone and says, "Ladies and Gentlemen it is our great pleasure to announce…the engagement of KAVYA with ANJALI, NEEV with PRACHI, and ANGAD with KRIPA." Loud cheering and applause is heard throughout the entire Sharma House. The kids basically have their mouths dropped wayyy down to the ground. They are in utter shock and sort of in denial, thinking this can't possibly be real. Prachi whispers kind of spaced out to Neev, "Neev pinch me I think I'm dreaming…" Neev pinches her really hard and Prachi yelps, "OWWW! NEEV!!" Neev just shrugs his shoulder with a smile on his face. Kavya just will not stop touching Anjali. Anjali whispers, "Kavya behave yourself, we are on stage for God sakes!" Kavya replies, "Kyun? Ab to meri hone wali biwi ho!" Anjali forcefully lets out a frustrated sigh trying to conceal her happiness. Now as for Angad and Kripa well… Kripa looks towards Angad as soon as it is announced while he looks at his parents in bewilderment. Kripa notices more pain come across his gorgeous face, the pain of reliving the rejection once again. Dilip and Surya start hugging each other and announce, "You guys will all be invited to the engagement of our children, which will take place next weekend!"

Everyone starts clapping, while Angad looks pretty upset. He doesn't want this, not this way at least. She didn't love him, or at least that's what she told him. He certainly didn't want pity, but that's exactly what it feels like. Kripa pastes a smile, trying to make it seem like it is forced, but on the inside she is jumping for joy. God really loves her, the day, no wait the minute after she realizes her love; she is to get engaged to him as well. Destiny is definitely on her side, she knows that much.

Everyone starts congratulating the three couples, who are still shocked out of their wits. They definitely did not expect this to occur, their engagements to be announced on their birthday. It is a happy occasion for all the children except one, Angad Khanna. The aunties and uncles gather around the children and parents to congratulate the pairs. On this note the party soon comes to an end.

Silence is heard from both families, as they sit in Sharma's living room. Dilip then speaks up, "Hum chahte hai ke tum log shaadi karlo…" The children now look up at their parents, still a little flabbergasted. It still has not fully sunk in what getting married entails. Kavya and Neev reply rather quickly, "OKAY!!" The adults look towards them shocked that Kavya and Neev agreed so rapidly. Surya isn't sure what he heard is right so asks, "Kya kaha?" Kavya and Neev have clasped their hands to their mouths in embarrassment for responding so fast. They slowly nod, trying their best not to seem overexcited. Prachi and Anjali look at the boys and blush and blush hard. Naina and Gayatri notice the red faces of the two girls and say, "lagta hai, Anjali and Prachi ko shaadi nahi karni Kavya aur Neev se!" Anjali and Prachi then scream on top of their lungs, "WHAT!! HUM NE NA KAB KAHA!" They scream so loud even Kavya and Neev get surprised. The adults laugh at Kavya, Neev, Anjali, and Prachi's enthusiasm.

Meanwhile Angad and Kripa have been silent spectators of this scene. Kripa knows she is in love with Angad, but she also knows that Angad isn't aware of this fact. She just prays that he won't mess this up. Angad is just really infuriated at the moment. Eventually the parents turn their attention to Angad and Kripa, who both seem lost in their own thoughts, staring off into space. Surya asks his daughter, "Kripa beta hum chahte hai ke tum sab ki shaadi ek hi din aur ek dusre se hi shaadi karo, beta, kya tumhe is shaadi se koi aitraaz hai?" Kripa doesn't even glance at the furious Angad and replies beaming, "Papa mujhe koi aitraaz nahin hai aur I'm sure Angad ko bhi nahin hai, hai na Angad?" Angad just forces a smile. Oh he wants to strangle her, HOW COULD SHE! He feels that Kripa only said yes to please her parents, sacrifice for her siblings, and sympathy for Angad. It hurts him much more than her refusal alone. Now he knows that if he refuses it would cause problems for his brother and sister not to mention even their families. He isn't that selfish. He knows that if Kripa were to refuse it would not be as big of a deal. The parents interpreted Angad's forced smile as a yes, so they jump out of their seats and start hugging each other frantically. Kripa takes a peak at Angad and sees him lost in thought, not to mention red from anger, but of course from the parents' perspective it looks as though he is blushing.

The Khanna's soon left the Sharma House and retired to the Khanna House to get to sleep. Prachi enters her room and changes her clothes. Then Prachi stands on her balcony looking up at the night sky. She is silently thanking god for giving her the best gift ever. God gave her, her Neev. She would soon be Mrs. Prachi Neev Khanna and she couldn't be happier. Prachi suddenly hears her cell phone ring in her purse and picks it up quickly. She hears the love of her life on the other end say, "You look sexy in you pajamas!" Prachi's mouth drops open and she whines, "Neev!! I do not!!! And stop looking!" Neev laughs, "Sorry cutie, but you look very very very cute" Prachi blushes and continues her whining. She then gently lies on her bed and says, "Neev I'm so happy today, the happiest I have ever been!" Neev replies sweetly, "I know what you mean! God our parents are too cool, It's like they can read our minds! Oh wait, I hope not…cuz I'm pretty sure even you wouldn't want to know what's going on in my mind!" Prachi warns, "Eww! Neev I'm gonna hang up!" Neev laughs, "HA yea rite, imposs…Hello?? Prachi?? Yoo Hooo? Anybody home? AWWW CRAP!!...she's too cute!" Neev sends a text message instead. Prachi reads, "G-nite jaan! Sweet Dreams!" Prachi smiles cutely and goes to sleep holding her phone.

Meanwhile. Anjali lies on her bed and just begins thinking about her future as Mrs. Anjali Kavya Sharma. She can't seem to believe that she will be marrying Kavya, her one true love. Her thoughts are disturbed by a knock on her window. Anjali quickly darts towards the window and sees that it is Kavya. In hushed whispers Anjali asks, "Kavya what are you doing here?!" Kavya frowns, "Umm I'm pretty sure I came to see my gorgeous fianc… but I can't seem to find her anywhere!" Anjali smacks his arm lightly. Anjali says innocently, "No really sweetie you should leave because I am gonna get in trouble!" Kavya jumps in her room and says, "HA you really think they could do anything, NOW? Jaan we are gonna get married, if anything they would get us married more quickly!" Kavya pulls her into his arms and continues, "Which by the way is not a bad idea!" Anjali confidently replies, "Kavya, honey, Leave or I will scream! One…Two… Thr…" Kavya kisses her softly while making Anjali fall on the bed. Anjali moans trying to distance Kavya from herself, then finally giving in to the kiss. Kavya smirks at her weakened state and gets off of her and whispers, "Sweet Dreams Beautiful!" Kavya walks swiftly towards the window and leaves, while Anjali stares at the ceiling still dazed, eventually falling asleep.

Meanwhile. Kripa is dancing around in her room excited, and why wouldn't she after all she just realized she was in love, in love with her best friend, her Angad Khanna. That isn't the only reason of course, soon she would be Mrs. Kripa Angad Khanna herself. Kripa blushes at the thought of being Angad's wife, being his love, his life. Kripa just could not seem to wipe the smile off of her face. There is nothing that could make her depressed at this point, nothing. She knows she has to tell Angad and she knows it has to be soon. She is thrilled about telling him, yet at the same time nervous.

Meanwhile. Angad would not be able to sleep at all. He enters his room, gets ready for bed, and just collapses on it, in deep thought. He just doesn't understand how Kripa can be so cruel. She knows for a fact that he is madly in love with her and in one second made his love seem like a joke. He knows he has to do something in order to stop this engagement from proceeding any further. He would surely come up with something, something to stop this engagement.
