Lagna
Her FIL needed little convincing, he was even more impressed with her, he teared up. Manas was shaking his head in amused disbelief
“I cannot believe you two are planning this”
“We are asking a nice homely girl to marry your brother, what could be wrong?”
“Nothing” he shook his head but looked at Suhasini worriedly
“Baba he thinks I am out of control”
“No you are not beta, you are just the DIL we need in this family to keep us together”
“She likes Ms Vyas so she wants Indraneel to marry her Baba, they hate each other” Manas was blunt
Senior Deshmukh was shocked
“Why what happened why does the teacher hate my son?”
Suhasini was furious at Manas
“Why do you say that” she hissed
“They hate each other” Manas muttered hesitantly
“What happened, will someone share?”
“Well Baba, they both had a competition to teach Kunal and Indra won”
“So? He is a good teacher na?”
“No”
“Oh the teacher’s ego was hurt?”
“Yes yes” Suhasini didn’t go into the detail
“That can be fixed, he is in another profession altogether, he works for a bank I think….” He leaned back smiling pleasantly
“What if the girl is unable to take the hurt and pain”
“then she will say no, I have 3 or 4 girls lined up in the next month for him” he beamed like a tube light
“You two are crazier than circus clowns” Manas muttered
Baba laughed out loud
“Well Baba… looks like your son has rewarded us”
“He loves you… only I am the crazy one…. Aai has left me and I am crazy” he choked up
“BABAAA” Suhasini was sitting on the floor crunching on peanuts, Baba sat in his easy chair
She pressed on his knee
“I want to see his wife, I want to see his babies, then I am done”
“No you are not Kunal’s wife and Kruti’s husband will not like it” she laughed
“I am almost 70”
“Lets not talk about that Baba” she smiled
She had a round beatific face with a large forehead and a pointed chin, she didn’t have time to take care of herself, after two kids she was filled out in the right places and generally only wore a saree at home
“I don’t know if she will wear a saree haan Baba?” she teased
“Oh no” he laughed
“She looks like bohemian hippie… skirts, and scarves and long curly hair”
“I have seen her she was wearinga saree”
“You saw her when she came here from school directly” Suhasini corrected him
“Well… then it’s a no ?” he teased his bahu
Manas chuckled and got up to leave
“Does he like her?”
“Well… he only likes me… you and the kids”
“And Indra” Baba chimed
“Depends on the day and time of day” Suhasini mumbled
“You will bring the brothers closer”
“I don’t know… but I want to see that rogue married”
Pankaja Vyas was not greatly excited to go, but Suhasini had been nothing but nice to her, she loved Kunal too, he was her best friend in that house.
Kruti was adorable and Baba was just too kind
She HATED Indraneel
They had a big fight, that other day, all the way down to the gate of the apartment complex
“If you cannot handle it, don’t dish it out Bhadra” he bit out
She had called him a gigolo angrily
“You started it, I wasn’t even talking to you”
“You have the nerve to slander me but get outraged when I defend myself”
“Do it, be my guest, I am not the one to shrink away”
Indraneel was thankfully not around
The food was excellent
Her brother hadn’t come along, neither her sister. It was their ticket to go out with friends.
Ajji was delighted, she craved to make new friends
Ajji and Baba yammered non stop
They found near and far connections in every village in Maharashtra
Suhasini was trying to bring the topic up, Pankaja Vyas looked stunning today in a peach cotton saree and a navy sleeveless blouse, her eyes seemed green and blue sometimes to her
She wondered if she married Indraneel then then if she would still like her or begin being mean, afterall Indraneel made 5 times as much money as both herself and Manas combined and had traveled the world
Would the dynamic change?
Will she no longer be respected?
A beautiful gorgeous Deshmukh bahu might be adored by all
Suhasini felt self pity for a second
The kids went to their room to play with the toys Pankaja had bought for them
“Ajji…. Tujhi naat majha naatvashi lagna karela kaa?”
(Will your grand daughter marry my BIL?”)
Pankaja turned bright red
The front door bell rang
