Gopal’s eyes welled with tears. He swallowed and cleared his throat

“I didn’t think, I didn’t expect this at all” “I wish I had known, I would have never placed an ultimatum” his voice shook visibly

She reached up to hug him and cried softly on his shoulder

“I am done fighting Pa Dad… Gaurav Pia, and sabse badi ladai Pradyut se, I am tired of warring with your son. I want to enjoy my child. He can be happy with whoever he wants.

Her shoulders slumped defeatedly

He squeezed her elbows, “No no don’t”

“The only girl he ever brought home is you. The only person who makes him happy is you”

“You sound like you love him” she sniffled stepping away

“Mazaak nahi beta” “Don’t”

“I have to, I am tired and I am done. Pradyut drives me crazy. I mean I spend every second of the day thinking about what he is thinking how I must counter, where he is. What he is even upto, what will he do next, he drains me”

She stopped suddenly realizing how much she had chanted his name

Gopal realized that immediately

A wave of mutual recognition passed between them

She looked away self consciously, she certainly did not want her FIL to know how much she agonized over his son

“I have to go”

“Ma… Ma… se milo beta, baith ke baat karenge”

He ran after her

“I don’t have the courage to tell her F2F I will call her” she paused and spoke stoically

Careening into Pia

She steadied herself putting a hand over her belly, Pia scanned the troubled face, the gorgeous multi hued kurta and chudidar

“Is everything OK?” she asked unconcerned

“Oh yeah” “I just stopped by to say I am leaving for good, your brother can have the store, his life back, you can start being happy again since you will no longer see me, you can openly hate on me and my brother now. You can vocally protest and throw him out when he crawls back here to ask for more money. You can call the cops on him too” she found her voice breakup with emotion

Gopal was rushing out to stop her, he heard what she said to Pia

“Oh honey I was always happy, I don’t think you have that kinda power over me” Pia was smug

“Oh well… good… goodbye then”

“Are you keeping the baby?” she turned to ask as Taaruni walked away briskly

“So THAT bothers you then?” Taaruni turned to smile, still tearful

Pia was flustered

“You can keep speculating Pia, its none of your business

Gopal watched his sweet DIL walk away with her head held high

She texted Gaurav “Main Pradyut ko chhod chuki hoon, beg for money at your own will now”

He called her repeatedly

She didn’t answer

She notified all except Pradyut and left for Chandigarh

Gopal didn’t text his son, he was heart broken he didn’t know how even to approach his wife

Pradyut was in an all day meeting with DND on his phone and had told his admin the same. He had made up his mind that he was going to put an end to his misery by telling her he didn’t care about the store!!

Too late Pradyut.

She is gone for good.

Feel so much for Taaruni

But the guy needs to go through the agony. He deserves it.

He could have come out clean but he didn’t.

The cost he is going to pay for store is his wife (love which he never confessed) and his child.

Taaruni needs to feel loved and wanted. Good she walked out. For now she was merely business deal.

Both parents have been kind to her. Acceptance was easy here. Pradyut needs to realise how foolish he was.
