Why did roli leave so suddenly hope sid is able to find her again

CHAPTER-2

While waiting for Roli , Siddhant recollects their first meet ....the first day in college.

College ....it’s the first step to our ambition it’s the place where we often feel that we are closer to our destination- to fulfil our dream of becoming a successful doctor or engineer or architect or lecturer or someone whom we wish to become.

It’s the last phase of life where we can be carefree,no worries about life , away from the tension of life .. of course except the tension of exams ....

Similarly to Siddhant after clearing all the entrance exams and other exams , stepping into the DD institute was like a dream come true.

The fresh air filled with the laughter of the students , the excitement in every freshers, the happiness in seniors while raging a junior , the lecturers and staffs who are as usual busy with their works. Welcomed Siddhant into a new phase of his life.

The first thing that fell on Siddhant’s sight was — Ragging of a junior by a senior....

the funniest part about that was , right next to them there was a board that said “ Ragging is prohibited”

Ragging is a offence , when they take it to a extreme level of mental and emotional stress. But it’s just a healthy one when it’s just done to welcome their juniors in a memorable ways. Because mostly through ragging only the juniors gets to know about the seniors..... and if once the juniors gel up with the seniors..... together they make their college life filled with fun craziness and exam advices ...etc ....

But it doesn’t mean that I support Ragging.

Every student in life when enters a college always fear about ragging on the first day , but when they become seniors they rag the juniors .... This is what is happening for past few years now ....

Siddhant was also a bit scared of someone ragging him , why will he not be scared after hearing so many stories about ragging from his brother and his friends ...

Siddhant While moving towards the office hiding from the sight of his seniors , to find his Classroom dashes with a young girl.

Before the girl could say some few words , Siddhant as a gentleman immediately apologised for his mistake.

Unknown girl : hey mister , can’t you see and go.

Siddhant: I am sorry

Unknown girl : what is your name ?? Are you new to this college ??

Siddhant for a moment thought that this girl could be a senior but later after observing her ,and absence of ID card .he concluded that she can’t be a senior....

Siddhant: listen I have apologised... why are you making it a Big fuss. And why are you asking my name ??

Unknown girl : listen I am not making any fuss .... I just asked your name ??

Siddhant : Asking name is not a mistake .... but asking without your self introduction is wrong ....

Unknown girl looks on

Siddhant: you didn’t understand..... see if someone ...maybe a boy comes to you ask your name ... what will you do ??? Just tell you name ?? Or cross question him ??

Unknown girl : ooh... you are saying like that ... Myself Roli.

Siddhant: Siddhant.... it was nice to meet you but now I have to go , I have a small work in the office .... so we will catch up later ok

Roli : sure ok. Bye

Siddhant who thought that he has escaped from ragging after entering the campus .... failed to understand that for ragging seniors don’t see the place , but they see the people.

Senior 1:hey stop .. what’s your name ??

Siddhant: My name Is Siddhant

Senior 2:don’t you know that you have to give respect to the seniors ??

Senior : sorry ....,I mean sorry sir

Senior 2: today is the first day .... that’s why I am forgiving you ...

Senior 3: ok leave all that ...... come on do the salute...

Siddhant: Salute ????

Senior 1: haan , our college salute.

Siddhant : sir ..I don’t know

Senior 3 : What ?! This is too bad .. you have to be punished for this

Siddhant : punished ?!

Senior 2 : haan . Do one think here take my pen cap .. with this measure this whole ground and report it to us ..

Siddhant gets baffled hearing that .. he sees the pen cap’s size and the ground ..

Siddhant’s mindvoice : looks like today full day I will be in this ground only .. And moreover if Vikram bhaiya gets to know this .. then he will tease me till my death .. no ..

He gulps his saliva and thinks how to escape from them ..

He prays to god to show them a way ..

Roli who was watching all these came to his rescue ..

She interfere in ..

Roli : hello all .. are you people ragging him ?!

Senior 1 : haan .. why ?! Are you going to complain to the management?!

Roli : No sir .. just came to praise for the guts you have ..

Senior 3 : you mean .. for ragging infront of the office ?!

Roli : no no .. for ragging Deputy commissioner of police Virendran’s one and only son ..Siddhant

Hearing it all the three seniors and Siddhant got shocked ...

Senior 1,2 and 3 : whaaat ?!

Senior 2 : He is DCP’s son ?!

Roli : haan ..

Siddhant looks at Roli .. she winks one of her eye ..

Siddhant understood that she said that to save him from the seniors

Roli suppressed her laughter seeing their pale faces

They turn to Siddhant

Senior 1 : why you didn’t tell that to us first itself ?!

Siddhant murmurs : how will I say when i itself doesn’t know it ..

Senior 2 : what?!

Siddhant: I mean you didn’t ask me about it sir ..

The seniors looked perplexed and immediately left the place saying that they have to meet their lecturer to clarify few doubts

Siddhant and Roli laughs seeing them fleeing away with lamest reason ..

Siddhant turns and sees Roli who was still laughing

Siddhant : thank you

Roli : arrey no thank you and sorry between friends ..

Siddhant : friends ?!

Roli : why won’t you be my friend !?

Siddhant : it will be my pleasure...

They both smiled ..

Coming back to the present ..

He smiles remembering her antics

Their first meet on the first day of college was something he could never forget...

She was the first friend whom he got in his new phase of life - college.

Finally he sees Roli coming out from the NGO office ..

He goes near her and taps her shoulder from behind.

Sensing someone Roli flinched back in fear.

Siddhant : Roli relax , it’s me Siddhant ...

Roli calms down a bit and wipes her sweat ....

Roli : you here ????

Siddhant: Roli where did you go ??? Do you know where and all I searched for you ?? Do you how much I missed you ??

Roli : Voh ... Siddhant...I ....

Siddhant didn’t fail to notice her - she was scared , shivering and sweating a lot. She looks frightened.

Siddhant (concerned) : Roli are you fine ???

Roli looks on .....

Roli nods her head and answers without looking into his eyes : I am fine

Siddhant : I have a lot of questions to ask .... but it won’t be nice right if I ask in the middle of the road .... so where are you staying here ??

Roli looks at her watch and seeing the time she gets worried and says : Siddhant I have an important work and I have to go ....we can catch up later....

Siddhant : ok Roli ..... but when will we meet again ...

Roli looks on

Siddhant:Roli ..at least give me your number ....or ....do one thing you come to my home tomorrow morning directly ..one minute...you know my address right ....

Roli : haan .... I know ...

Siddhant : one minute... if you know my house address ..... why you didn’t try to meet me all these years ???

Roli looks on ...not knowing how to answer.

Roli : I have to go .... I have an important work now .....

Siddhant observing her ..told ...

Siddhant: ok it’s fine .....you go ...,but don’t forget to come to my home tomorrow morning at 10 am ..... I will be waiting.....

Roli agrees ....

Siddhant (concerned) : roli if you want I can drop you ..

Roli : no it’s fine ..

She leaves ..

Siddhant looks on ....

After reaching his home , Siddhant ponders upon his meeting with Roli.

On one side he was flying in the air after meeting Roli so many years later but on the other side her behaviour , look was so disturbing...

Siddhant to himself : She is not the Roli whom i know .... there is no tinge of joy, happiness and excitement on her face seeing me that too after 4 long years .She looked so pale , scared , frightened ..... her eyes .. it was filled with fear ... the sparkle in her eyes were missing ....instead it was filled with fear and insecurity.....what happened to you Roli ?? ..

There first meet was so lovely and cute ... first Siddhant thought her as senior and got scared but then when he got confirmed she's not senior he started asking questions ...that was hilarious..🤣... Roli is too smart saved Sid from ragging but what happened to Roli now ...whom she's fearing... hope Sid would help her to come out of the fear soon... waiting eagerly for there next meet...

Next day ,

Siddhant wakes up and gets ready in a formal wear ...

he goes downstairs and informs his mother that one of his friend is coming today by 10 am .

Siddhant : maa , make aloo parathas ,aloo subsiz , aloo tikki ,aloo methi,aloo..

Sujatha : Siddhant wait ..

Siddhant : what happened maa ?

Sujatha : beta other than aloo so many other vegetables are also there ......

Siddhant: maa but she loves aloo only

Sujatha : she ?? looks like she is a very special friend of yours ..

Siddhant dreamily : haan ... very special

Sujatha : Ohoo my son is blushing ...

Siddhant : maaaaa ...

Sujatha : what ? Maa Hun Tera .. now say who is she ?

Siddhant: woh maa ....you will see directly .. now go and prepare na ..

Saying these he left from the kitchen ... but he escaped the bear and fell to the lion ..his father Rajendra who was watching all these was standing there folding his arms in cross ..

Siddhant : papa

Rajendra: what is happening here ? Morning itself started ordering my wife ..

Siddhant : woh papa , my friend is coming today ..that’s why ..

Rajendra: who is that special friend ?

Siddhant: woh papa Roli ..

Rajendra: achcha roli !! Yeh toh wahi haina....by seeing whom you get tachycardia , hypertension and behave like you are suffering from Angelman syndrome...

Siddhant : kya ?!

Rajendra: haan . Whenever she is around you .. it seems you heart beats faster sometime even skips a beat ..and whenever you try to tell her your feelings your BP increases right ..

Siddhant : papa ??

Rajendra : Siddhant ..Epinephrine and norepinephrine are released into the bloodstream when the adrenal medulla in the brain releases catecholamines. This triggers the heart to beat faster and that is why you can feel it pumping away someone attracted to someone.... tachycardia-increase in heart rate and moreover people with Angelman syndrome often smile and laugh frequently, and have happy, excitable personalities.but there are many other severe complications too ..as a psychiatrist you must have known this right

Siddhant : papa I know that you are a doctor .. you don’t need to prove that always . By the way ..... papa ... how .. you know about ..roli ??

Rajendra: woh kya haina beta ....darasal kaal Raat I came to your room and you had slept that too holding a diary in your hand .. that time only I came to know that my son has a habit of writing diary .. you tell me how can I resist from not reading it .. so read it ..

Siddhant gets baffled hearing that .. Siddhant writing a diary is something which no one knows ..he always keeps the diary hiding from everyone’s eyes in a secret place ... yesterday after meeting Roli ..he took the diary out reminiscing their lovely friendship times ..and forgot to hide it yesterday as he fell asleep while reading those memorable moments..... little did he expected his father to sneak into his room yesterday night ...

Siddhant in disbelief: papa .. how can you read my diary ??

Rajendra : what a silly question Sid ? Obviously with my eyes ..

Siddhant : pa..

Rajendra : stop interrogating me .. you are a psychiatrist not a lawyer or police .... but remember I can question you as I am your father ... now leave all these .. go and make proper arrangements.. my hone wali bahu is coming to our house for the first time .. koi kami nahi rehena chahiya.. samjhi..

Rajendra goes to get ready ...

Siddhant shakes his head in despair ....

At 10 am ,

Siddhant restlessly walks here and there in front of the entrance door ..

Sujatha : Siddhant beta , sit ..she will come ..

Siddhant : Nahi maa ..the time is 10:00:56 am , she didn’t come till now

Rajendra : Siddhant , Roli is not a robot to come exactly on 10 .. she is a human .. wait .

Siddhant : but papa ..

Rajendra : looks like she itself came ...

he said pointing towards the entrance ....

She was standing in the entrance wearing a simple green chudidhar , her hair nearly plaited in one side ... in short she was looking very pretty ... but she was missing her charisma .. and her sparkle in her eyes .

She stepped into the house ... Siddhant introduced her to his parents and vice versa ..

Sujatha : lets have food and eat .. come beta ..

Everyone settles in the dinning table ..

Sujatha serves food to everyone .. and sits along with them as Siddhant insists her ..

Roli silently haves her food ..

While Siddhant and Sujatha were eagerly waiting for her to say something about the food ...but she didn’t even notice that those were her favorite dishes ...

Sujatha : roli beta , how is the food ?

Roli : it is very delicious aunty

Sujatha smiles

Sujatha whispers to Siddhant : are these aloo things really her favorite??

Siddhant * slowly * : haan maa ... even I am shocked that she didn’t react to these dishes ....

Rajendra: what happened..both mother and son are talking ?

Sujatha : kuch nahi hai ji

Rajendra: achcha roli beta , what are your parents doing ??

Hearing that both roli and Siddhant’s face turned pale ....roli’s parents died in an accident when she was 12 and Siddhant knows that ..

Siddhant : papaa ..

He signals Rajendra to leave this topic but poor Rajendra couldn’t understand what sid was trying to say ..

Rajendra: kya ?

Roli : woh uncle .. I am a orphan ..

Both Rajendra and Sujatha felt bad hearing that .

Rajendra : sorry beta , I ..

Roli : no problem uncle .. you asked as you don’t know right .

Sujatha : roli from today you are not any orphan and all ..... we are here for you and from now you also call me maa like Siddhant ..

Siddhant chokes while hearing that ...

Sujatha passes a water to him and asks him to eat slowly ..

Siddhant calls his mother near ..

Siddhant: maa .. don’t make her my sister ok ..

Sujatha : sister ??

Siddhant: haan .. if she calls you maa means indirectly she will become my sister.. chi ... no

Sujatha : beta , even bahu is like a daughter to a saas .. understand .

Siddhant : then ok ...

After having their breakfast ,

Rajendra : ok then ..Siddhant and Roli you both talk .... anyway between friends there will be a lot to talk and moreover you both are meeting after 4 years .. Sujatha ji come lets go ..

Roli : uncle it’s ...

Rajendra : it’s Ok beta ....

Siddhant smiles sheepishly as he know that his father left them alone so that he can spend a quality of time with Roli .

Siddhant : roli , thanks for coming..

Roli : how can I not when you invited me.

Siddhant smiles

Siddhant: so .. where have you been these years ? You know there was not even a single place I haven’t searched for you ..

where did you go all of a sudden?

Roli : woh .. woh .. leave that na . You tell me how is your life going on ? What are you doing now ??

Siddhant : me ? As you can see my life is going good .. and you know what yesterday only I joined SM hospital as a psychiatrist... you know I missed you so much .. finally god heard my prayer and Sent you infront of me .. you have no idea how happy I was seeing you .. for a second I felt it to be dream ....

Roli was hearing everything very silently with a smile plastered on her face .

Siddhant : arrey .. in the excitement only I am talking .. see I am not letting you to speak ...you say what are you doing now ? Where are you staying ?

Roli : I am working in an NGO ..

Siddhant : ohh that NGO where I saw you yesterday ??

Roli : haan

Siddhant : .. I guessed it yesterday itself ..because that watchman allowed you inside and didn’t allow me in .. you know even I tried to bribe him for allowing me inside .. but he pushed me out .

Roli smiles

Siddhant: You know what I feel right now ? .... I feel like our souls got exchanged?

Roli : ahh ??

Siddhant : then what .... before and all it was you who talks continuously for 24/7 without allowing others to talk .. and I will be patiently listening to you . But look now I am talking and you are listening silently.

Wait are you really roli ?? Or did I bring some imposter to my home ..

Roli glares at him ..

Roli : achcha the whole world knows your address ??

Siddhant : no no .. I am yet to become that famous .... by the way for you specially I asked my mom to make your favorite aloo dishes but you didn’t even react to it .. I know how crazy is my roli ..I mean my friend roli is about aloo . And this silent .. is something which roli can never be ..

It was only then she realised ..about aloo ..

A lump of saliva forms in her throat remembering something .. she gulps her saliva and ..

Roli : woh .. sorry .. I didn’t notice it and moreover I don’t like those now ..

Siddhant : seriously ???? Did you fight with your didi or what ? Before and all you used speak 24/7 about your didi’s handmade aloo paratha, aloo tikki and all ...

That time something strikes Siddhant’s mind ..

Siddhant: wait roli .. why did you say to my parents that you are a orphan ?? You have a elder sister right ? Your Jhanvi didi ?? Where is she ?

Roli‘s eyes filled with tears hearing Jhanvi‘s name .... she tried to control her tears but tears scrolled down her cheeks .

Siddhant gets tensed seeing roli like this .

Siddhant : roli what happened ?

And she burst into tears ..

Siddhant goes near her and side hugs her .. unknown to her she rests her head in his shoulder ..

he caresses her hair ..

Roli *sobbingly *: jhanu di is no more ..

Siddhant gets shocked hearing that ..

Siddhant : Roli...

He tries comfort her ... but she was crying ...

Though it has been years since her sister’s death .... Everytime when someone asks her about her sister, her buried emotion and sorrow always emerges up .... it like the wound is still fresh...no matter whatever ointment or medicine you apply , it wouldn’t be cured ....

All her and her sister’s memories come infront of her eyes. And mostly importantly that traumatic event just comes in front of her eyes .... which breaks her down into pieces .

Her sister who always take care of her happiness and will not let any tears drop out of her eyes ...is now the reason of her tears ....

Now she is all alone in this big world.... no one to pamper her , scold her , tease her, ....she feels like an orphan ..... Even if she wish to leave ..she can’t ....the reason is her sister .

It was painful for Siddhant to see her like this. All That he could do was to embrace her and let her cry her heart out ..

Papa and son bounding is super.... Feel sad when roli said i am orphan... What happened to jhanvi... Eagerly waiting for next update....
