Chapter 2- “The flashbacks”
Sensing Roli's sad vibes,Sarya had offered to come for a sleepover. They were hooked to DDLJ,munching on popcorn. Roli was gazing at the screen,lost in thoughts,yet again. Sarya rolled her eyes seeing her friend's state.
“So..Roli..Do you mind if I ask you something?”
“Yes.”
“Oh,come on!!”
“Duh. Shoot.”
“Do you know why your parents named you Roli?”
“Because its a beautiful name?”
“Like seriously?No. Because tum hamesha ro rahi ho,yaar!!You are sad all the freaking time!”
Roli stared at her friend. “That cheered me up a lot. Really helpful. Thanks a lot,Sarya.”
“You are welcome.”Roli rolled her eyes,exasperated.
“Actually,that was not what I wanted to ask. Umm..Why do you ALWAYS keep thinking about him these days?Don't you think it is high time you got over him?”Sarya was serious,which she rarely is.
“Its nothing,Sarya..I'm fine. I don't know why it doesn't go away..these flashbacks..I hate it.”
“oh..well,you know you don't actually HATE them,don't you?”
“I don't know yaar,I really don't. Moreover,I am okay.”
“Yeah. The typical 'Roli' reply. Don't give me that shit. I've been your best friend since school,So I think I can know when my friend's not happy. I have a right to be concerned,you know!”
“I'm sorry. I know you care about me. All I can say is,All these flashbacks...I can't handle it. They are too happy,that they make me sad.”
“I know. I get it. So.. Is this serial heroine gonna sit around sad all these days?Say no. Say NO.”
“No,I'm not. But I'll need some time.”
“Fine. As you say. But..If you don't mind..Why did all these thoughts pop up so suddenly?”
“Well..Saru..It's been...It's been 10 years now.”
“Oh yes!That's it!You guys had some stupid ideas about '10 years later' or something,right?”Roli stared into the popcorn kernel she's been holding in her hand for a long time.
“Roli..You okay?”
“Yeah. I am.”
“Yaar..I've asked about you guys a lot,but I still don't know much.So..Let today be the day. What's the whole story?”
Roli took a deep breath. Then smiled. “Its a long story.”
“Go on,I'm all ears..Plus,the whole night awaits your story..”
