If it's an update notification then my Sunday is here go fast do update now.
Amazing story.. read all parts in one go.. in love with the story.. where is anjali and who is shyam?? Dadi is returning.. what will happen of jennifer and nk?? ArShi are very unique here.. sahab sounds sweet.. as they have behave as traditional couple in front of family.. Khushi seems to have no problem with it and she doesn't hide that she used to work for him. 😊

Thank you so much it’s great to see you on this thread! Always a supportive reader which I appreciate very much.
Anjali is away as Is naani. Naani is at some religious event whilst Anjali is visiting a friend abroad.
Shyam and Anjali are married. Like you mentioned there are different layers to Arnav and Khushis relationship.
Hope you like the next chapter.. about to upload it now .
Chapter 7
Arnav accompanied Khushi into the temple, took part in a little prayer and then later waited at the car.
He wasn’t a praying man so to speak but he did admire those who were. Those who could put their all into believing in a ultimate decision of a higher power. That took courage. Where as ASR liked to believe he shaped his own life and was open to the possibility of a higher power however the pride of being self made was one of his strongest motivators in life.
Jenifer who had toured the temple some what and was browsing a near by stall.
Wanting to buy something but short on money luckily Arnav isn’t too far.
“Quick favour” she asks him and he digs into his wallet for her.
Whilst he does she couldn’t help but notice him standing out here.
“Not your scene?” She asks casually.
“I’m here for Khushi” he confirmed, pulling out a note and handing it over.
Jenifer smiles with a thanks, promising to return it soon.
“She has a lot of faith doesn’t she.” She says talking of Khushi.
“Arnav nods with a smile whilst he watches his family up in the mandir, Khushi praying, nk and Akash taking pictures, Pari running around. He loved and understood each one of them. Speaking as he watched his beautiful wife from afar.
“Khushi has been conditioned over time.
By my family, their expectations and traditions”
“I want to take her away from it all some day.” He says as if he’d been wanting this for some time now.
Seeing him pause she can’t help but wonder.
“Was she a lot different before marriage?”
maybe it’s just age, we all change with it..” spoke Jenifer without realising where the conversation was going.
Arnav continued to look out thinking about where they had begun, the way they once were.
“Sorry you probably don’t want to talk about it to me.” Jenifer was quickly apologised
We’re planing a small party for Khushi back home “think she’ll like it?”
“Khushi tends not to like being the centre of attention but I’m sure she’ll love the gesture” he smiles knowing his wife deserved special treatment and the kids likely want to say thank you to their friend and mother figure.
“Hp and Op are at home prepping better go and help them too..” she says rushing herself to walk off back to the shop keeper.
...
Elsewhere back within the mandir.
Khushi is walking away from the idol in the mandir when she bumps into Shyam.
Their acquaintance was always a awkward one.
“Happy birthday Khushiji” he wishes her and she replies with a measured smile to just be polite. If she didn’t have to be civil to him she wouldn’t.
Just as she steps to pass by he stops her.
“I have a small gift for you” he says, putting forward a pink rose. Their were many flower merchants around a temple of course but the pink rose was Khushis favourite flowers.
I’m afraid I can’t accept this, you should offer it to one of the gods.
“But it’s your birthday” he says stressing the matter in a way which only made her uncomfortable.
“Pari beta” Khushi calls on Pari who is fluttering around the mandir the way toddlers did.
“Your mama has a present for you” she says .. once Pari sets her eyes on the flower Shyam has she adorably makes towards him and insists on seeing it.
Shyam has no option but to give it away to little Pari. Leaving him looking distastefully and in spite at Khushi who walks away to Arnav waiting for her in the car.
“Where’s Pari,” ASR asks as Khushi enters the car, always worried for his little niece.
“Woh Akaash ke Saath hai” noticing her a little distant for a moment he checks on her. Everything alright?, his eyes expressive. When she nods he asks again. “Sure?”
“Ji, she says somewhat hiding something but not letting it on aware that her husband was a very perceptive man no matter how hard she concealed her thoughts.
“I wish di was here” she says as they drive off, having Anjali around meant that Shyam would stick within the norms he ought to.”
...
Arnav took Khushi to Gupta house to distract her from Raizada house that was being prepped for her birthday and it was the perfect distraction at that.
When Khushi walked into raizada home she was extraordinarily surprised by the greeting she received. Everyone shouted surprise from behind a decorated table and cake. Khushi couldn’t help but laugh in surprise.. looking towards Arnav with a smile holding his arm to whisper a “thank you”
“It wasn’t me”
“Thank you still, aap Nahin hote toh yey sab Nahin hota.” She said with meaningful eyes. He smiled.
To break their intimacy was something even more adorable. Little Pari who ran into Khushi wanting to be picked up by her badi ma.
Her little lips already covered with what looked like cake.
Khushi cut her cake with Arnav, birthday wishes were exchanged. Food was laid, it was beautiful. She didn’t mind spending time their but Khushi wasn’t one who enjoyed being the centre of attention. After a little time whilst all others enjoyed the food and were distracted with one another’s company Khushi made her way to Arnav.
“Sune ” (listen) she said softly always respectful around others but even more more discreetly not wanting others to overhear.
“Hmm” he said with a smile turning to her,
“this is nice but ..” she said trying to look for the right words. She didn’t like so much attention. She didn’t need to complete her words for he knew.
“I know”, he said quietly Back only the way a husband could. A conversion without words it seemed.
“Where do you want to go?” He asked her, she dipped her eyes for a moment.
“Tiptoed and whispered into his ear.”
...
“All the places you could have chosen from Khushi, this is where you want to be?.” He raised his eyebrow at her from the side as put down a small tiffin of party food on the desk and walked beside him looking out at the sky scrapers from his office window.”
“This is where it all started” she said thinking back to when they first met.
It indeed was he thought .. this office, this view, one afternoon, them and home cooked meal.
You knocked on that door one afternoon like a world wind Khushi and changed life.
He said with a laugher..and she smiled Back.
Arnav could see the appeal in being here now it was nostalgic.
He smiled.. at her side profile.. she noticed him amused .. and still thinking.
“Kya soch rahe hai?” “ What are you thinking about?”
She asked.
He waited for a moment, there was no reason why he couldn’t say what he wanted here, well did always within reason.
“About the time I found you half naked in my office.”
“Kya,”? She looked at him with big unbelievably disgusted eyes that was far from the truth.
“Shaadhi ke ek din baad” ( morning after marriage) he reminded her of what he was referring too.
“I was uncomfortable in my saari, I was adjusting it that was all and you walked in” trying to explain.
“If you say so” - he said teasingly turning back to his desk and walking towards his chair to take a seat.
“Aisa hein hua tha..” ( that’s not what happened) she turned to explain more, “it was a bad day okay, ghar vale sab chira rahe they, So I came to drop your lunch off to avoid them and .. that saari well I was just fixing it that’s all.”
He poured water little did Khushi know it but he enjoyed watching her this way there was a comfort she had when recalling the past.
A freedom in her he enjoyed.
“And then?”, he asked.
Watching her think back, she paused.
“Yaad Nahin” (don’t remember) she said.. and he could see through her lies when she told them.
“Come here” he said softly, she looked over a glance she couldn’t defy his ask of her and walked over.
She didn’t look at him because she could feel his intent full eyes on her.
“I remember the rest” he said with a knowing tone of voice.
“I helped you with your saari.. “ he said .. making Khushi look up at him embarrassed. In a single moment did he pull her off her feet by her waist onto his lap in the chair.
“Sahab” she said a little surprised, but also it seemed to be at the tip of her tongue these days, a little embarrassed.
“No, you screamed my name that day, and more than once..” he said proudly making Khushi gasp for a second. “Yaad Nahin hai toh yaad Dilaon” ( “I can remind you if you’ve forgotten”) he said in a luring tone into her ear.
“Arnav” she stretched out somewhat trying to tell him he was being rather over the top.
Enjoying her blush he pursued her. Kissing her earlobe, caressing her neckline just the way he did that day.
Drawing his hands to her skin at her waist and tugging at the folds of her saari. Unravelling her, whispering sweet nothings to her, making love to her, in the office chair, over the desk reliving their moments of love, but renewing them with more meaning than before, more love and respect for one and other.
..
Arnavs phone had rang more than once whilst they were here but he ignored the calls, he had already bribed Hp to answer any questions at home with a white lie.
Whilst Arnav sat back in his chair Khushi sat over his lap, Khushis blouse astray and the buttons of his shirt open telling of their affairs yet even so they were a tasteful couple. The amount of intimacy was equal to level of conversion they shared. They talked about the past memories, thought upon wants needs and desires but there was one thing in particular he wanted her to hear. Putting a stray hair behind her ear he runs his fingertips affectionately down cheek..as his eyebrows furrow as he speaks. “You can talk to me about anything, anytime you know that don’t you” he looked down at her in his arms, she looked up at him only for a moment and scattered her gaze before replying. Something that didn’t pass by him.
....
Whilst Khushi tucked her saari back and put on her bangles she turned to Arnav who was stood at a distance with his back to her. He’d been there for a couple of minutes now, she stepped closer and wrapped her hand around his forearm.
He was looking upon a card construction of their new home. Although Khushi was never sure seeing it made her realise how beautiful her husbands dream was.
He didn’t want to imply anything for he knew they hadn’t concluded on anything just yet.
He looked towards her with a smile and she looked at him in return. She put her hands to the chest of his shirt and buttoned the few open fastenings of it.
“Ghar chale?” She said hesitant. He nodded.
....
On return home Arnav and Khushi walk into Raizada house to see family partied out. Nk and Jenifer seemed to have one two many drinks.. Jenifer was asleep her head rested on nks lap whilst. Khushi eyes Arnav but he asked her to let them of seen as the both of them had acted like a pair of teenagers this evening anyway.
Pari had fallen asleep in her play area, at which Arnav removed his blazer walked silently closer wrapped her within it and picked her up on his shoulder..
Whilst Khushi spots Akaash lying back with his head on the sofa .. when Arnav walks closer to place Pari by his side he notices Akaash holding to his heart a picture of his wife. Paris mother who had long passed. Khushi and Arnav share a look of worry after which Arnav puts the picture down on the table next to father and daughter.
Arnav wraps his hand around Khushi both agreeing in silence that it was quiet enough for one day, walking up to their room quietly not disturbing the rest.
Coming up in the next chapter:
Drenched in rain water Arnav walks into raizada house, as a result of the weather his hair is sept back, and his white shirt now see through.
Khushi who lays the the table can’t help but be distracted by him.
...
Thanks all do leave your thoughts
Fab update. I am finding Khushi’s character more intrigue she speaks very less but it’s good to see how Arnav understands her so well love their chemistry.
Wow.. they both spend time together after quite a long I guess.. why khushi not saying about Shyam to Arnav??!!
