What time you leave home in the morning, what time do you get home in the evening?
How much of that is purely commute?

Thats the survey question of today

I leave home at 6:20 am. park my car at the sky train station, take a ride of about 35 minutes to downtown to start at 7:30 am. so it takes almost an hour and back every day. since I work from 7:30 - 3:30. I am usually back by 5:00 pm after picking up my daughter from the library.

I would love the journey to be shorter. But no complaints though.
Have meet some wonderful people. Have Lovely friends. I enjoy my work and hence worth the effort. When alone while travelling I get to pursue my hobby and read.

Pritee's post took me back18/ 20 yrs. We were a bunch of girls commuting about 100-110 kms up and down . We all used to gather at a stop and commute was fun then yapping to glory about everything under the sun 😆 pagers were new thing for us to communicate back then in addition to all the in person gupshup but boy enter marriage and a child you dread the word commute

Here till about mid 2016 it was 50 miles up and down all days . I absolutely hated even that . Now on most days it's all down to 15 steps four days of the week .

I commute two days in a week to work. And it is 1.5 hrs one way door to door. I dont like it so much. Even a local job would have a commute of 45 mins to an hour. NJ is notorious for traffic.

Morning about 45 mins and evening takes anything between 60 mins to 90 mins

thats the main reason i took a break when i had a baby now looking at a part time job since my industry its common to work upto 50 hours a week

Aaraam ki aadat ho jaati hai to bahut khatakta hai

In the last 20 years, I have done my quota of commute to NYC, upstate NY, northern jersey (45minutes to 1.5hr + each way).

The job i have for the last 6 years, has been a blessing in some sort(its 5 miles from home and takes me about 20-25 minutes each way as it is close to NYC train station and i have no way of going around that traffic). But last few years, my entire team relocated to Charlotte. So I work from home (8/8.30am to 6/6.30pm) and travel to Charlotte for 3 days every other month. So I cant really complain much about day to day commute.

When I was commuting, I used to catch up on sleep or read a book on the train or listen to music/phone call catchup on the car. But nowadays, its from home office to kitchen (one job to another). Unwinding time has reduced almost nil.
