CHAPTER 2
Roshni took a deep sigh yet again...
"HELL HERE I COME" She mumbled to herself, as she entered the college gates
She dodged past some wild students in the hallway, playing football across one end of the hall to the other, whilst the nerds watched them wide eyed. Some girls stood in different corners touching up on their make up. Everything seemed so superficial. .
"Hey Rosh" greeted Chubby, as he approached her, snacking on a cheese bagel
Before she could reply, she heard a crowd shouting, which attracted her attention.
"What's going on over there?" She asked puzzled, looking in the direction from where the sounds were coming
"Just leave it Rosh. ..let's go.."
But Roshni ignired his plea, curious to know what all the fuss was about, and began to walk in the direction of the sound
The girls started hooting
"Whaoooh. ..Sidharth. ..Sidharth!".
Likewise Sidharth walked past the crowd, with his signature smile on his face, not looking at any girl, not matter how hot she was. .
She watched some students running - fear clear on their faces, , whilst some hooted and laughed
Unable to stop herself she walked closer. ..and her eyes travelled to some students standing in a line...Whilst Sidharth and his gang stood close by..With smirks on their faces. ..
Sidharth came and stood on the middle
"Welcome new students to St Aviers. I know you guys must be wondering yahan pe kya hone wala hai! Right! "
The students nodded their heads nervously.
"Well, it's on old college tradition that new students be welcomed in a special way!
continued Sidharth, smiling all the while
"And my friends and I are here to make sure you are welcomed PROPERLY!" he said cunningly
Sidharth signalled the boy in the front of the line to come forward
"Aaja beta we will start with you" .and the boy nervously obeyed, and walked up to Sidharth.
"Karan if you will do the honours!" He smiled
"Will love to" he replied, as he walked to the boy..With a bucket of ice cold water
"It's a very easy task, you just have to throw this water down your pants" teased Karan, as Sidharth chuckled
"No...Please !" The boy swallowed hard
"Come on. Don't behave like a little wimp! "Chuckled Sidharth
"But!" The boy tried to say something
"Do it now, or else I will have to think of a way of punishing you, for insulting the college tradition!" Hissed Sidharth
Frightened the boy obeyed and took the bucket and hesitantly threw the iced water down his pants..
"Ohooo. ..Ohooo! " the boy jumped up and down, as his lower parts freezed
The gathered crowd burst out laughing , as Roshni stood shocked as Hell
"Arre wah, bonus mein free mein dance bhi dekne ko mil gaya" giggled Misha
"Next" ordered Sidharth as another boy came out..trembling all over
"Yours is easy..." Karan said, passing him a bucket of gutter water
"You just have to to drink this!" He chuckled
"What the Hell is wrong with these people" hissed Roshni under her breath..unable to control her disgust
"Rosh...leave it nah. Let's go! " Chubby was literally begging her...as he tugged her hand.
But Roshni refused to move.
The boy just stood there, scratching his head looking around at the crowd
"Arre what's wrong?" Questioned Sidharth to the boy
"W...woh...I..." stammered the boy in fear
"Woh..woh ...WHAT! It's just some dirty water...itna drama kyon kar rahe ho! It isn't as if we have asked you to drink my urine or anything" mocked smirked
Everyone laughed at his words..and Sidharth just continued to smirk
Roshni blood began to.boil...watching the poor boy, and she couldn't control herself any longer
"STOP THIS NONSENSE! " She shouted, and all eyes fell on her
Sidharth turned slightly to see Roshni and he raised a single eyebrow
The sunlight radiated her whole face, and she was glowing..The sudden sunlight on her face forced her to close her eyes, as a soft breeze played with her hair
Sidharth smiled and the word "beautiful" escaped his lips
Roshni adjusted her spectacles, and moved away from the direct sunlight and then
"He will do no such thing!" She shrieked, bringing Sidharth back to reality
"What the! " huffed Misha, as the rest of the gang turned to look at her furiously, making Roshni feel tiny all of a sudden.
"You better watch that mouth of yours, Nerdy Patel, or it will get you into trouble. ." Spat Misha
Misha narrowed her eyes at Roshni, whilst Roshni could almost see the smoke coming out of her ears
"And by the way, who the Hell are you to give orders" yelled Misha, as her hands curled into fists
The shocked crowd turned to Roshni, waiting for her response, as if it were some nail biting cricket match going on..
Roshni took a deep breath so as to swallow some of her nerves
"I'm nobody..but that still doesn't give you the right to treat others like SHIT." Her voice was a little cracked, and underneath she knew she had messed with the wrong people
"Really Nerdy Patel! "Sidharth replied, removing his sunglasses, Taken back by her confidence
"My name isn't Nerdy Patel" she replied angrily
"Really...Then what should I call you?" He asked raising his brows up and down
"I'd rather you not call me anything. In fact I'd prefer if you did not talk to me at all" she retorted. ..and Sidharth could only grin back
"Sassy little thing" he chuckled to himself..as he stared intently at her
Roshni bit her lips, avoiding eye contact with him and turned to the boy...
"You don't have to do anything, you don't want to to!" Roshni said sweetly to the boy, who looked back at Misha and Sidharth
"How dare you Nerdy Patel. How you dare interfere. Your turn will come soon I promise You!" Hissed Misha
"Now I suggest you apologise to Sid and me and mind your own business!"
Roshni sighed. "Oh God! This girl is getting more annoying day by day" she mumbled under her breath.
"Apologise for what?" asked Roshni folding her hands in front of her chest
Misha scrunched up her face "I said apologize varna!"
Roshni narrowed her eyes, hiding her fear under a fake frown
"Varna What?" She retorted, earning a small smile from Sidharth, who was enjoying her bold, yet cute actions
Misha suddenly grabbed her wrist and twisted it
Roshni closed her eyes with pain..and for some reason, Sidharth hands clenched into a fist
"Leave my hand" shrieked Roshni as she jerked Misha away. She almost fell, but Sidharth stepped forward and held Misha by the shoulders
"You okay" and Misha nodded yes
Sidharth turned his gaze back to Roshni...
"Nerdy Patel. .How dare you" he growled
"Like seriously" protested Roshni "Are you blind or what? Your friend was the one hurting me and you're telling me how dare I!"
Chubby rushed to her side
"Rosh. .just leave it. ..challo" and grabbed her hand to take her away..But Sidharth quickly grabbed the other. .
It happened again. He felt a tingle, a jitter..that made his heartbeat grow wild..Her hand was so soft so fragile
"Leave my hand" Roshni said..But Sidharth said nothing. Lost in her touch
"I SAID LEAVE MY HAND!!!" This time her voice a little louder, which bought Sidharth back to reality and he let go instantly
Sidharth closed his eyes..shaking that feeling away. Taking a moment to compose himself, he then glared at Roahni
"Do you know who I am. Sidharth. Sidharth Khurana! Nobody dares to talk to me like that. NOBODY! "
"Yeah. .yeah whatever" retorted Roshni
"I don't care who you are. I'm not afraid of YOU!" She replied stressing on the last word and pointing a finger at him.
Sidharth glared at her angrily. .as the students stood watching. They couldn't believe that she had just stood up to Sidharth Khurana
She stood strong in front of him, even though on the inside she was frightened as hell.
"A person who cannot respect another person, shouldn't expect respect in return!" she said with deep rage
"Hey look Nerdy Patel!"
"No you look! You think you're so tough! ..But from where I stand you're nothing but a coward...who picks on others for no reason. I hate that people like you exist. Seriously stop degrading others. Whether they are new comers or Nerd they have feelings, unlike you!".And adjusting her spectacles,
"What sort of upbringing have you had? Haven't your parents taught you any manners?" She taunted
The moment she mentioned his parents his eyes furrowed with rage
"Don't you dare" he warned
"Why!" She challenged "Didn't like it?" In fact I feel sorry for your parents, that they have such a rude and mean son, who doesn't know how to respect other people's feelings! "
Sidharth fisted his wrists
"We are not disrespecting anyone. DO YOU GET THAT! . We are just having a bit of fun! And you have no right to involve my parents in this!" he protested angrily
Closing her eyes for a moment, regretting to have bought his parents into the conversation, she opened them again
"Just take a look at the those poor students...Does it look like they are having fun. ..!"
He felt nauseous, as he turned to look at the newcomers, who stood terrified
He quickly turned back to Roshni and was about to say something, but she dismissed him, like she was disgusted to even talk to him. She grabbed Chubby hand
"Come Chubby. .we're getting late for class.Dont want to waste anymore time on losers like these" and with that she was gone.
He watched her leave...speechless
Her words were still ringing in every corner of his mind.
"I will kill her! " screamed Misha, outraged "How dare she. ."
Sidharth took a deep sigh and turned to the newcomers
"You can all go now" and they ran as fast as they could
"What did you do that for Sid? I was having so much fun!" Complained Misha. .but Sidharth just shrugged his shoulders
"I'm late for class. If you'll excuse me"
"But Sid!"
But before Misha could stop him, he walked away without listening to anyone
Sidharth made his way to an empty classroom.
"Arggg! " he shouted as he rubbed his fingers through his hair
He tried to shake the thought of Roshni words from his mind, but they seemed to have made a permanent habitat there
"Nerdy Patel. .Nerdy Patel. .!" He thought shaking his head, unable to think straight...
He went around the classroom and bashed a couple of tables and chairs in frustration.
"Arggg! " he screamed again...
LATER...
Roshni closed her locker, when she felt a hand on her wrist, and began to dragged
"Sidharth what are you doing! Leave my hand..
He pushed her into a lift, refusing to let go of her hand.
"Sidharth what the Hell? What are doing? " she shouted, but nothing effected him.
"Leave my hand your hurting me!" His grip on her hand was too tight
The lift door open and he dragged her to an empty classroom...and pushed her in forcefully
Roshni was scared, really scared
He walked closer to her,."Sidharth" she could barely whisper...her voice choked
"We have some unfinished business Nerdy Patel! " his voice was dangerous and scary
"W. .What?"
"Tumhe kya laga. .that I will forgive you for what you did today! " he said through gritted teeth
"You fu**ing dared to bring my parents into the conversation. You raised your hand at their upbringing in front of the whole college" his tone was deep and angry
He pushed her up against a wall, with his hands on either side of the wall...
"And you know your gonna pay for it...I will make you regret what you said!" He roared madly...and Roshni heart skipped a few beats in fear...
She trembled and a tear escaped her eyes
"Sid. . Sidharth please"
"Really please!" He growled
"NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TALK TO ME LIKE THAT. AND NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TAUNT ME ABOUT MY PATENTS!" his voice was harsh, and it sent chills down her spine
"DO YOU GET THAT!"
Roshni wasn't silent anymore she was crying..
"I know I went a little overboard. I shouldn't have bought your parents into the conversation. .I didn't mean to harm anyone. Not even you. I know I crossed my boundaries and I apologise for that mistake!"
Looking back into his eyes...she wiped the tears away, that were constantly streaming sown her face.
She knew she couldn't be weak...she would stand up for herself...
After taking a deep breath and calming herself down..
"But I'm not sorry for standing up to you. You were hurt by my words. But what about the new students?. You were trying to disgrace them in front of the whole college. So you think that was right..." she stood still, her lips trembling and her body shivering
Sidharth stared back at her wet eyes...listening to her each and every word.
He had seen a brave Roshin up until now, a fighter. ..but now in front of him stood a scared Roshni.
And he hated it.
The fear in her eyes, scared him.
Every time he looked into her eyes, every cell in his body would go wild...With a strange feeling, and overtake his whole being..
He wanted to lash out at her but he couldn't
He want to punish her for the things she had said, but he couldn't. .There was something stopping him. Restless is what he felt
She looked up, as Sidharth stared back intently.
There was something different in his eyes. He kept staring, as Roshni lowered her eyes
"Go ahead and teach me a lesson. Take your revenge! She whispered "After all thats what your good at nah..because your nothing but a Monster" she hissed
He didn't know what he felt, hearing her call him a monster. All he knew was that he hated it. His heart ached. For the first time his heart felt something..
And the stupid feeling of guilt, took away his anger.
He found his heartbeat accelerating, as he gazed into her eyes...
"Your nothing but a Monster..." she whispered again
That was it. Sidharth grabbed her shoulders tight
"ENOUGH! "he screamed at the top of his voice, and she jumped in her place due to his tone
"I'm not a Monster! And how dare you make predictions about me. HOW DARE YOU!"
"Leave me!" she tried to push him away, avoiding eye contact with him.
Sidharth could see the fear in her eyes. And he hated it. He took a deep breath to calm himself down. But didn't move away from her. He had to make her understand
"Is that what you really think of me Nerdy Patel. That im heartless Monster. That i don't care about people feelings..
Roshni furrowed her eyebrows confused. "Did he really expect me to answer that"
"Yes. Yes I was wrong. I probably shouldn't have treated those students like that. But I'm not a mean person. And how dare you taunt my parents. They have raised me in the best possible manner..." he desperately wanted her to change her opinion of him
Sidharth eyes were anxious. He demanded an answer. His face just inches way from hers.
Her eyes shot up to meet his.
"I was angry, because you tried to disrespect that boy. It was my first instint to defend him, by someone as cruel as you..and I don't regret that. But like I said, I do regret bringing your parents into the matter! "She meant every word as Sidharth continued to drill his eyes in to her
"And for that I am sorry!" She apologised again
He studied her for a few minutes. .as she blinked a few times. ..
Neither of them realised how close they were, she was pinned tightly to the wall, and his body was pressed against hers. Her eyes didn't leave his face, whilst his roamed down to her lips, and felt the urge to lean forward, closer to her
She could feel the heat warming up in her cheeks, as he continued to drill his gaze into her.
"What am I doing? What is happening to me?" He thought
Suddenly he banged his hand on the wall
"Damn it! Is that what you really think of me? That I don't have feelings. That I'm a monster!"
Roshni shrugged her shoulders
"What does it matter what I think!" Whispered Roshni, a little afraid of him
"How can you form an opinion about me, when you barely know me!" He hissed
She didn't understand why he was being so emotional. She expected his wrath, but this was something different. There was something in his voice and his eyes which she could not read and Sidharth could not understand
Roshni looked at him and shook her head
"Your right i dont know you. But your actions speak louder than your words. And those actions are enough to decipher what sort of person you are!"
"I'm not like that Ok! I'm not what you think I am" he desperately wanted her to change her opinion about him. And he had no idea Why?
"Okay fine. Maybe a judged you too harshly. Maybe I owe you an apology "
Sidharth expressions relaxed slightly, hearing those words from her...and stood looking at her
"Well" he asked
Roshni furrowed her eyebrows "Well What?
"You said you owed me an apology!" He replied calmly
"Oh! Mr Sidharth Khurana I said I OWE you an apology" She smirked, and pushing him, ran away as quickly as she possible could
Sidharth brushed his hands through his hair, and suddenly found himself smiling ...
"What's the Hell wrong with me. Why did I have to clarify myself in front of her,"
"I was wondering the same thing" a voice came, as Sidharth turned to look
"Hey Karan..what's up?"
"I don't know. You tell me" asked Karan as he looked at Sidharth suspiciously
Sidharth shrugged his shoulders and pursed his lips
"Ah..If you'll excuse me..we're getting late for class" and walked away as if nothing happened
Karan smiled slightly "kuch toh hua hai" and followed him out
