HER GROOM TOMORROW

Krishna leaned on the balcony of His palace with His wives, and smiled lovingly, as He watched His four wives, Rukmini, Jambavathi, Satyabhama and Kalindi pick flowers, and tease each other at the same time. He had kidnapped Rukmini as she had wished, He had married Jambavathi with the customs of Jambavan, His old friend, He had brought Kalindi to Dwaraka and had married her amidst all, when Surya Deva did the kanyadhaan for her, and with Satyabhama, He had created the entire drama of the Syamantaka Mani, knowing that that will achieve two purposes, one is to take away Satrajit's pride as Satyabhama wanted, showing Satrajit what he had always known, and the second, of course, was to marry His Bhama.

"Satya, He whispered to Himself, smiling as He visualised a beautiful woman, locks cascading down her back, fair face and sharp features, a beauteous, gentle smile on her face. It was time to get one of His Nilas home.

"Devrishi!, called Krishna, eyes twinkling, knowing that Narada was always the best person to carry messages and get things done.

"Narayana! Narayana!

The sage appeared, bowing down to Krishna, and receiving the Lord's blessings.

"You called Prabhu?, asked Narada.

"Indeed Narada. I have some work for you

Narada smiled, seeing the mischievous twinkle in His Prabhu's eyes. His Prabhu was up to something, and he knew that this will reunite one of the forms of his Maa Lakshmi with His Prabhu.

In Ayodhya..

Nagnajiti walked across the beautiful garden, smiling at the flowers affectionately, caressing the parrot that was perched on her shoulder. Her father had gotten a visit from Devarishi Narada, whose words had made her premonition come true. The seven bulls that she and her father had grown lovingly would have to be tamed for her to be married. She knew that the bulls were very protective of her, and would refuse to let themselves be tamed unless they felt that the person who was suited for her had come to tame them. Which is why none of the suitors who had tried their hand had lost, all including Chedi Naresh, Sishupala. Nagnajiti shivered at the thought of the man, and turned her thoughts back to the one sh wanted as her suitor. Nagnajiti always secretly, silently, hoped for it to be Lord Vishnu, who had taken a human form in Dwarakadheesh Krishna. His divinity was widespread, and she felt that they had always been linked together, for many births.

Ayodhya, her maternal home, was the ancestral town of Lord Rama. And though the Palace of Ayodhya submerged with Raghuvar, she always felt like she knew the land of Ayodhya. Like she walked every inch of it with Rama, side by side.

Her eyes scanned the garden, when she suddenly heard the excited chirping of the birds in the trees above her. She felt the curiosity in her grow, for she had never seen the animals of her Kingdom this excited before. What was it that had them this excited?

"Sakhi! Dwarakadheesh is coming to Ayodhya!

The loud message of Satya's Sakhi Prerna has her shivering in delight. Her Lord was coming? To Ayodhya? What for? Was it for her? Trembling in unadulterated love, and pure bliss, she sat on the grass, her eyes closed, as she surrendered herself repeatedly to Him.

Krishna walked into the courtroom of Ayodhya, along with Balarama, both filled with nostalgia about the entire city. This was their home, in their previous birth as Rama and Lakshmana, and despite the fact that it wasn't their Kingdom, it was still their city.

"Welcome, Dwarakadheesh, Sriman Balarama, said King Nagnajit, smiling in humility, and welcoming the two brothers warmly.

After the customary welcome, and seating the two brothers on golden thrones, Maharaja Nagnajit asked them, "What may I do for you, O Vaasudeva?

"Maharaja, I came here with a request, said Krishna, softly.

"Anything Dwarakadheesh, said King Nagnajit, anticipation filling him. Had the time come?

"I want to marry your daughter, Satya Nagnajiti, aid Krishna, smiling.

"Of course, said the King, a wide grin on his face. "There is none better than you for my daughter, Vaasudeva. But...

The King trailed off, not liking that he had to put forward his condition to the Lord who ruled the Universe.

"But?, asked Krishna, gently, knowing why the king was hesitating.

"I took an oath that only the one who can tame my seven ferocious bulls can marry my daughter, said the King, his tone pleading forgiveness.

"Is that all?, asked Krishna, smiling. "I will tame your seven bulls, and marry your daughter, oh King. Is tomorrow an agreeable day?

"Of course, Dwarakadheesh, said King Nagnajit, awed by the fact that Krishna had simply agreed to the request, and was willing to tame the bulls the next day. He knew that Krishna was Lord Vishnu Himself, and felt humbled that the Lord had come to request the hand of his divine daughter in marriage.

Nagnajiti gasped when she heard that the Lord of Dwaraka had come to ask for her hand in marriage. Shyly, she smiled at the statue of Lord Narayana, imagining Krishna's face, her heart thrumming with the need to see Him face to face. Almost like a reflex, she got up and walked towards her garden, hoping that she would somehow run into Him in the garden. Shaking her head at her thoughts, she sprinted to the garden, hoping that at least looking at her flowers would give her some relief.

Humming a song on Lord Vishnu, she reached her garden, and gasped. In front of her stood the man who had given her sleepless days and nights, leaving her restless and calming her soul fully, causing her heart to thud loudly.

In front of her stood Krishna, in all His dark glory, shining with the power of pure Brahman. She stared at Him, her love for Him enhancing every second, as she felt blood run in her veins, and a crimson blush cover her fair face, causing the Lotus eyes of the one she was seeing to crinkle with a smile and a knowing twinkle.

"Pranaam, said Satya, shyly, looking at the ground.

"Pranaam, said Krishna, a soft smile on His face. "Rajkumari, I didn't expect to see you here

"I didn't either Dwarakadheesh, said Nagnajiti, shyly. "I suddenly seemed to have happened upon you

"Or maybe, this is the game of Destiny, said Krishna, smiling widely now.

"But you are the maker of Destiny itself, said Nagnajiti.

"How am I? I am simply a human being, said Krishna, innocently.

"A human being who performs miracles every day?, asked Nagnajiti.

"Are they miracles?, asked Krishna.

"They are indeed, my Lord, said Nagnajiti, gasping at the words that slipped out of her mouth impulsively.

Krishna grinned widely, His eyes filled with love. Just before He was about to talk...

"Kanha!

Krishna sighed. His elder brother always interrupted Him, irrespective of who He was with.

"Pranaam!, said Nagnajiti, turning and sprinting away, causing Krishna to laugh. His Nila!

He turned and headed in the direction of His brother's voice, smiling to Himself. He would be her groom tomorrow!

never heard about this wife of Krishna so it was an interesting piece for me.😆 Beautifully written, loved reading it. Keep them coming.
