I greatly admire girls that fearlessly take care of their parents financially and, emotionally and physically. Girls are taught only to care for husband and in laws.

I have also met girls who frequently use the excuse of their in laws or husband to shun their parents. Husbands in such cases being the most sadhu paavam types.

I also know of a IT girl who claimed she will "not marry until she buys her father his first house in some remote village in Tamil Nadu and his first car blah blah blah blah, how her father sold his farmland to educate her and how impoverished he is and how lucky she is to be in the USA etc"

And two months later was hitched to a guy working in Minneapolis and was pregnant a few weeks after and has had another one since.

So much for Hindi movie style bhashans, sab udan chhooo ho gaya aadmi milte hi

I agree.

I have a friend, she started working full time after completing her 12th to support her family. Ensured her brother got very good education. Did her LL.M. Bought 2BHK for parents.

But unfortunately is still single for reason best known to God. And she one of kindest soul I know.
