Chapter 239- The News Report
Sreedhar and Suman were in the drawing room of Gautham's house. Supriya Aunty had told they can spend some private time as now everyone in the house knows their relation. TV was on in low volume as Sreedhar wanted to watch Shekhar's programme. Programme was over but then Suman and Sreedhar were engrossed in chit chat they didn't switch off the TV.
" Sreedhar this Singapore exhibition I am so tensed. See in between regular work, preparing for it has become really hectic" told Suman.
" Sumi you have close to two months to get prepared for it. Why are you worried now itself. See there is a good Indian diaspora in Singapore. If we manage to make a mark in the trade fair, we might get orders from couple of Indian boutiques there"
" I understand what you are telling. See I have put lot of efforts for this Delhi fest. Hope it goes well"
" It will go well Sumi, it is getting late, let us have some rest, good night " told Sreedhar.
" Good night " told Suman and was about to shut down television when Shekhar's face appeared once again in the TV.
" Accusation of attempt to rape on Aravind Setia the five time MP from Jaipur " told Shekhar in television and Sreedhar and Suman stood still staring at the screen.
" Nimisha Purohit, a girl who was the Cashier of Shashank Rawat's retail show room is on the run for the past one and a half years because she has life threat from Aravind Setia. As per the diary we have received which is authenticated to be that of Nimisha Purohit and the information we gathered it is observed that, Rawat has drugged this girl by giving her juice and when she woke up Setia was going to rape her.
As per Ms Purohit it is said that Setia eyed the girls who worked in Rawat's show room, used them for his lust and then they were sold to human trafficking chain. Nimisha claims that she has injured Setia in a very sensitive area, quite brutally to escape. But then Setia's people are searching for her and she is running from pillar to post.
Now the question we are asking authorities is, is there no way to provide Nimisha security. If the drugging of Nimisha with juice is true have we investigated Rawat enough for human trafficking angle. Are there girls missing from Rawat's show room whose whereabouts are unknown.
We urgently demand medical check up of Aravind Setia to validate Ms Purohit's claims of the injury inflicted by her to escape the rape. We also urge the government to look into the details of missing girls in the last five -six years from Rawat show room. "
Sudhir and Tilak stared at each other. They were watching TV while discussing business.
" Bhaiyya I have seen this girl Nimisha Purohit. She used to give money when I have gone for collection" told Sudhir seeing Nimisha's photo in inset.
" Sudhir that Rakesh's sister Sudeepta was working in Rawat's showroom right. We should speak to Ankush and make him request Dheeraj to look into that missing case urgently "
" Bhaiyya it is not about Sudeepta, I need to have a meeting of our committee so that we can urge people to come and report about the missing girls. Yes they might have been used for human trafficking, but it is very important the families speak so that culprits can be punished " told Sudhir.
" Yes Sudhir, but we will have to work on their rehabilitation also. They might not want to return to families and families might also don't want them" told Tilak.
" Yes Bhaiyya, the committee will have to have a solid plan to deal with this issue. I am sure a lot of people in community are among affected " told Sudhir.
Aravind Setia was perspiring. His elder son had awakened him and asked him to see the television. The photo of the girl in inset itself send chills in his spine. Once again he remembered the assault she gave him. It was numbing, he didn't know what hit him and he was in hospital for about a week. After that the doctor had gently told him, he can no longer have physical relation with a woman. That girl had hit him that way.
Now she has come back. One and a half years none of his cronies could find her. Now her diary has landed in the hands of a reporter. He slammed his fist on the table. He couldn't bear the thought of his medical report becoming flash news. He couldn't think of going through medical examination. He slowly got up and moved to his room. His son asked him whether he was fine. Setia told his son, he need to talk to some people. Five minutes later his son heard a single shot and when he rushed to his father's room he found him in a pool of blood with his revolver in right hand.
The next day newspaper headlines screamed " Aravind Setia commits suicide. Alleged involvement in human trafficking needs to be investigated "
