PART 184
"The ways of God are weird, they bless us with the best of both worlds, yet take away a part of our world from us at the same time."
Kraanti blessed Somada as Urmila entered with the little one in her arms.
Urmila had always her sister to be looking over at her child when she would walk in, be the first to play with her; be her godmother in all true senses of the word. But she knew, she had to wait for a little longer, until the day finally came.
--------------------------
8 Months Later
"Mama!"
Lavya and Kshitija exclaimed with a bright smile on their faces as Siya walked into her room, exhausted from a heavy round of shopping for groceries but all her weariness snatched in a moment.
She jumped onto the bed with them, snuggling and tickling each of them.
"What were you two up to, huh?" She asked, which was met with her innocent laughter.
"Nothing ma'am," the attendant replied. "They are very well behaved kids. Didn't trouble me in the least. And you know what, I discovered something new today."
She hurriedly turned the television on to a music channel, showing a singer humming a soulful song to his audience as the crowd cheered on.
But what was surprising was her childrens' reaction. From the giggling fit, they were just in, the two had their eyes glued as they listened to the singer with an open mouth and tried to hum along.
Siya was taken aback at their expression when the attendant spoke.
"Maam, it's not only this singer, whenever I play a music channel or a song on my phone, these two fall quiet and listen. And the cutest part is, two or three times they've even tried to hum along! I think they somehow have a very big passion for music."
--
"Love, do you really think children can listen to anything when they're in the womb?"
Siya tried to hold back her laughter as Ram began to play his list of favourite classics in the pair of earphones they shared.
"If you listen to it, I'm sure they will too," he replied with a sweet smile. "I want my child to sing, dance, write.. be a very artistic individual."
"And for that, their mother will have to tolerate a little bit of my nonsense. Please."
Siya laughed at his scrunched, innocent face, laying her head on his shoulder as the two slept to the music.
--
Of course, it was bound to be, she thought.
No matter how far Ram was from them, he was IN them, and there could be no debate or denial.
"I think, after a few months, I'll get them admitted to a music school nearby. If it's what they really like, I think they should pursue it seriously." She said.
It was as if the children understood, as they crawled upto her and hugged her tightly.
She hadnt a hint of how such a small act would bring her fate closer to her, in a way she had never anticipated.
----
"Ahh, calm down, there.."
Shruti sat up straight as Shatrughan handed Subahu in her arms.
Subahu, their newborn son.
His was a magical birth, with ease for both mother and child, just as Shruti had prayed for. She was weak from all the medicine, but her son's healthy body and smile made her heart full of joy.
"My god, Shruti, I can't believe our little one is a mother now!" Maanvi exclaimed as she kissed her forehead.
"And I promise you, his brothers and sisters won't bully him like we used to do to you," Urmila chuckled as all joined in for a laugh.
Shruti cradled him to sleep and spoke softly.
"I wish he could see his eldest brother and sister. I know how important it is to have people you look up to, especially when youre the youngest. Ofcourse, Pushkar and our Somu are there, but .. "
"I can understand," Urmila placed a hand on her shoulder. "We have to wait, and they will be here soon. Siya Di has sent a picture of them right? For the time being we can show that to them, and try to never keep the gap empty, until they come here in person."
---
Ram stared at his phone screen with a big, yet melancholic smile.
Siya had sent a picture of the two, sleeping next to each other in their baby cot just a few days ago.
He had driven himself and his team all over the place to find a trace from where the picture was sent, but they hadn't been able to narrow down on any one location. Still, Ram had planned to visit all the locations that were estimated of for himself, just in the hope that he could catch a glimpse of all of them.
Their peaceful smiles in their sleep reminded him of Siyas soft breaths as he slept with her breath falling on his neck.
He picked up another phone to make a call hurriedly.
"Hello? Yes, lets complete all our engagements for the next month in this month itself. Schedule everything from tomorrow onwards. I will need the next month off."
He couldnt wait any longer.
