The challenges of raising a headstrong child in privileged condition is no joke. Nivi being the best example. The rules of society especially towards animals are anything but admirable. We the human society have never treated other animals well. So Nivi does have a point about animal using /eating animal products, however she is talking with a vegetarian mother, I wonder how her father really thinks of her ideas besides the "period" dilemma? Wow Nivi is becoming more of a challenge to raise than the twins combined.

I think that R&B is more familiar with the world that Nivi is in than II. II in some ways is more naive as she does not really know what goes on in the lives of children who come from a lot of wealth. May be this is my own middle-class mentality that sees the world as II does. II is so far removed from the world of drugs and sexual escapades used by youngsters challenging parental authority, or just experiencing life, as they have most of their desires fulfilled. Thus I think that it would be better if II listened to some of R&B suggestions in raising Nivi. I think that as parents they will be facing similar challenges later with the twins. I am already crossing my fingers.

It's not that hard to empathize with II and Ranjan's fear. Despite the best efforts of the parents there is no guaranteed outcome on the final product your upbringing stamps on your child. That's a reality as it's not just the parents who are the influencers of all things good and bad in life. We don't live in that kind of a world anymore.

But for Nivi, I would rather call her as strong willed . Head strong... yes but strong willed more.

On a personal front , I find some moments that I face with my teen daunting and frustrating that has me yelling at her with no patience wanting to pull my hair out and scream on feeling like banging in to a brick wall.

But I also have had moments where I have sat back , watched in awe at the conviction that she shows on certain pursuits. Certain things ... you as a parent get to see the drive in our own kid. Increasingly you become aware that you as a parent become a student and not her teacher / guide of late and that's not a bad thing as they go through that metamorphic stage of breaking out of their cocoon.

Yes it's time for II and dude to become students to a strong wiled self motivated fine young lady

He drove Nivi to school, she sulked all the way, and just texted furiously

"Can u give ur phone a rest please?" he requested bluntly

"Can I go to Macy's tonight?" she asked instead

"Umm.. no you may not, didnt u miss shabad last week?" he asked turning toward her

She didnt respond

"I thought stalking me was Amma's job" she muttered

"Enough Nivi" he said gruffly

"You never worry about my school or classes" she wailed

"Umm" he thought up a retort

"Its not like you ever took shabad lessons" she argued

"I agree... I didnt... but Amma has you doing it for a reason"

"NOBODY in my class is doing shabad" she cringed

He was quiet

"I am doing a strange hodge podge of things, Carnatic music and shabad? I mean... fencing and tennis?" she ridiculed herself

He didnt say a word

"You talk to Amma all the time, now you wont talk to me"

He chuckled

His wife said those exact words all the time

"Sorry... um... u can drop fencing if u like" he offered

"NO... NO I dont want to do that" she said blushing

"Greg's in fencing?" he asked pissed

He honked at a poor auto wala

And turned towards his daughter to hide his shame for unnecessary honking

"umm... he is" she said

"U cant have it both ways Nivi. Amma lets you see him, and you want to quit something Amma wants?" he argued logically

Nivi huffed and puffed

He pulled up outside Modern School

Nivi stormed out of the car

"I have to sign u in" he said mockingly

"We have recess.. I dont want to miss" she said

"Oh yeah" he smirked

And took his time finding a good parking spot

The aging guard grinned

"Bitiya khoob lambi ho gayi" he muttered

He smiled and said namaste

They went in the attendance clerk logged her arrival

"I dont think she has lunch, is it too late to place an order for the cafeteria?" he asked
The lady nodded unconcerened

"I am not hungry DAD" Nivi was embarrassed

"Umm.. I think u shud let me judge that" he said

"No really... i can share my friends' food" she said smugly

"U mean Greg's Swedish meatballs & Gravlax (Salmon)?" he muttered

"He is eating vegetarian too" Nivi said smugly again

"Ah... ofcourse" he nodded
She fidgeted, her long smooth legs imaptient on the marble floor... pacing

"Can I go now Dad?" she begged

He nodded reluctantly

She turned and began to sprint

"Hey" he called after her

She ran back to him sulking and threw herself into his arms

II opened her eyes and stared and turned away

Her rope like braid hung from the edge of the bed

She wore a saree and flowers and and chose to nap
He picked up James and dropped him on the bed
The poor dog tangled and skidded trying to avoid Sahana

"Ur hottie is here for sex" R&B muttered

"I had sex with both while you were gone" she muttered cynically referring to James Bond & Chuck Norris

He threw his head back and laughed...

Sahana grabbed James' ear and he barked...

He picked up his daughter and kissed her hard

She made a face and rubbed her fat palms on his face

"Prickly?" he whispered

She smiled
He kissed her again, and set her down.. they fled the room as she chased them

R&B bolted the door and slid under the covers

"II" he groaned

He pulled her and rolled her on to his body

He kissed her slowlyyy... tasting and relishing

Their tongues sparring, breathlessly

"U dressed up to take a nap?" he asked, undoing her hooks on the blouse on the back

She arched

"they drive me nuts" she said
He kissed her again

"Dog was going to bite her" II said letting him unhook... giving up her fight

"she wud have bit him back" he said

II groaned.. she knew it was the truth

He gently laid her down and bent over her neck

This is so amazing Nisha I can't figure out the reason why every update every time feels like it's the new story I m reading be it present or future or anything u write
It feels so refreshing that it's hard to tell that it's an 1200 update old story

And yes it's challenging to have an teenage kid at this time and then too when u have been there and done that and know the consicuencies of every step one make
And how can u put Sahana and dogs in one line and always make it feel like that they are one and not human and dogs

A normal and romantic day at MM. What a treat!

Secure & Insecure

The boys came home first from their school. One had green paint all over his hands

Sahana and the dogs sat on the rug in the master bedroom playing eating and and generally ignoring each other

Chuck leapt from time to time trying to fly up to the bed, to cuddle with a sleeping II
She rolled over pulled a pillow over her ear trying to ignore the yelps and groans and cackle from down below

He went off to take a call after making love

She wore his tee and took a good two hour nap

"Amma I maded finger payting" Ved waved his hand
She groaned and reluctantly rolle dover

One had his tie on, though the knoct was way below

The other didnt have his tie on

Sid bend down and picked up a teddy graham from Sahana's cup, the dogs loved the boys

The boys loved Mimika

So their love wasnt reciprocated

Sahana growled and screamed

R&B appeared taking his glasses off

"So when someone is taking a nap how are they supposed to mind 3 kids?" she accused

Ved ran to his dad and got hoisted

R&B kissed him on his cheek letting his lips sink

"Me ment to the big biggg pawk and mohith dumped off the swide" Ved explained

Sid stole Sahana's cup and she pushed him and climbed over him, letting the snack spill all over the rug

They were sooo thankful to be rescued from the alligator baby

They scampered and wagged their tails

"Amma can I skip shabad today?" Nivi was direct

II was afraid she was goingt o climb up

His boys were like II they abhorred books and reading

He fed his troops as Ranjan returned

"Beta tu soti nahi na acchi lagdee" Ranjan said sadly

"I was tired" II said sheepishly

"What happened with Nivi?" Ii asked

"She hid Sid's pencil box and wont own up to it" R&B said a lil disappointed

II's face clouded with sadness

R&B went upstairs

"Nivi lo lekar bahut tension hai" II muttered

Sahana was in her godee, gently rocking herself to sleep

Ranjan fed the boys their banana bread and choc milk


"Akele ren di aadat hui onnu, phir in dono ne aafat machai, ab Sahana, aur... phir yeh dono"

"BTW we LOVE it here, dont send us away" Chuck stood erect and announced to Ranjan

"say something man!! Tell him how safe and secure we are" "Cmon dude" Chuck urged James

"She is not acting out because she doesnt get any attention" II refused to accept

"Rab jaane gudiya" Ranjan sighed "Mainnu pakda Sahana" he took the baby as she napped

The boys followed him outside

The dogs did too

II went up

R&B sat across from a weeping face down Nivi on her bed

"Can u sit up please?" R&B begged

"I dont think she even likes me" Nivi was tearful

"Whoa?" R&B looked incredulous

"She doesnt like me..." Nivi cried

"Thats not true

"Oh yes it is... dont... dont lie to me Dad... she hates me...I knew she only likes you" Nivi said all of a sudden

R&b realized his daughter was jealous of the attention he was paying his wife
And he had no idea how to address that...
