ASHU, people can be mean, insensitive and generally horrid, but the world is not such a bad place afterall. Try to find a good fit and don't give everything you have. At the end of the day you are your own best friend and no one can strip you of that. Expectations from any relationship are bound to hurt, you just have to change the way you view people and relationships. Not easy but for your own happiness, you've got to do it.

"She wanted the book, she wants the toy, now she wants your godeee" II was not too jazzed about Lasya at the moment

Nivi sat there licking her fingers noisily as the laddoo's sugary flour caked her fingers and palms
II grabbed the roasted cashew pieces before she could eat them and sorted and piled them on one side
Nivi ofcourse wanted those now...

And smiled at her daughter

Nivi looked at her shocked at first, then anoyed and when II smiled she smiled back

She was very conciliatory easily swayed by how ever she was treated

"Amma ate it all" II whispered

Lasya pointed to the back yard "fonten" "fonten" she wanted to go play in the water feature by Savvy's stream

"Gudiya khaane mein kya hai?" Ranjan asked her

"Umm... chicken" she said a lil unenthusiastically, reminded again of how Appa bolted MM

"Tu kya khayegi beta?" he asked

She looked at her husband accusingly

"Just realized youve never asked me that question" she said

"Really?" he was offended

Nivi was done literally polishing off the laddoo stains off the counter, her arms her legs, she was licking and sucking the white marble

She reached out to Lasya with a hand of friendship

"Nooo" Lasya made a face and turned away

II chuckled at Lasya's disgust

"Vaa dee lets go get cleaned up" II smiled at her daughter

Nivi stood up on the counter "Da da da" she urged R&B to hold her too

"Chalogi kya II... we plan to do a girls trip to Mumbai?" Sam squealed

II looked at R&B he looked back at her not approving or declining

She knew Manny wasnt her best friend didnt know what a trip with her meant

II turned towards the back stair case, Nivi wailed wanting to be held by R&B

Lasya gripped him tightly and lay on his shoulder

He didnt do anything to set her down, instead went on his phone and began to text... god knows who

"Let me clean her up" II said going up the wrought iron spiral stairway

"We shud hit chor bazaar" Manny said

"Tan will kill me, I have a room full of things I am yet to hang on the walls"

"Dad knows that Desai guy he knows someone that strips Gujju havelis u know" Manny tempted her sister

"Beta jis kaam se ja rahe ho" Ranjan interrupted

"Daddd we wont be spending two whole days at the Raos na?" Manny giggled

The sisters were a clique alright II nodded going up. when Manny was around, Sam and her behaved like twins
Sam was usually OK at Shanti Niketan but something about Manny's wedding proposal was making her go all gooey and mother hen like with her younger sister
II was merely a onlooker at this point, there was no equal partnership...

Her husband followed when she was done giving Nivi a quick bath

"Dont care to go to Mumbai?" he questioned

"I dont think Sam was serious... she was just polite" II said not looking at him wiping down Nivi vigorously as she ran to R&B

"Huh" he grunted

"I dont get to spend much time with her so I will pass" II said primly

He looked baffled

"Whats that all about?" he asked

"Umm... yoon hi... Lasya tumhe chodti nahi, Sam is probably planning to leave her with her in laws and Tan" II said enviously

"U shud leave Nivi with me"

"No... I dont think so, Lasya ek second bhi" she stopped

"Shes THREE" he said outraged

II nodded, a lump in her throat

Her face was hot and red... she grabbed Nivi dressed her in a frilly striped skirt and a tee with a heart motif
Tied her hair in one giant clump up top

She cried yanking and patting her scalp
"Its too tight II" R&B complained on his daughter's behalf

"Apdeenna nee katti vidu" (u tie her hair) she challenged

He sat on the rug, and gently released the pink tie, Nivi smiled with gratitude

He handed it to her, she waved and flung it on II

"Dont care for it?" he asked Nivi

She flew into his arms as if saying "Nope"

Her gorgeous curls framed her face and neck... her chubby face transforming into a teary smile


"We dont need it"

"wait until Lasya sees you" II muttered

He froze and glared

"U need to push back when she is mean with Nivi" Ii said still hurting

"Are u upset?" he asked shocked

II got up and turned away

"I am going down"

"II WAIT A SEC" he called

"Nahi..."

"What the hell are you upset abt, I thot it was Appa then it was the fact that I dont check on what u eat" "And now this?" he asked confused

II was a lil embarrassed

"Appa left unnoticed, thats a fact" she said calmly

"He hates me II. I am not going to beg him to stay" he spoke bluntly

"If he was a partner at Argent would u say the same thing?" she challenged

She was unhappy for appa or guilty of his going or insulting him .. it was she only blaming dude for appa's departure was not needed 😡

How fickle can us as humans be? We long for us or our own to belong or be accepted but when we don't get it in the form we want, our corrupted mind takes over.

Any issue doesn't surface on a day, many times they are lingering issues and resentments brewing inside and on a bad day, in a bad mood, those lingering issues just get a voice.

The thing with Lasya being bossy and entitiled over Nivi has been brewing for some time. But it's the same Lasya that dude and II used to argue, plead with Sam for bringing her over to MM from shantiniketan before Nivi was born. Today Lasya cheenofyung things that Nivi wants has II simmering , her motherly instincts to the fore.

Appa and R&b hatred and indifference towards one another is II's cross to bear. Both men just simply do not care to make it easy for her . In the bad mood that she's in she takes it out on her husband who is her punching bag now but she was needled enough by dude over his need for Fat tire beer in presence of her father. The guy who who in a moment understands his Daughter's physical discomfort over the tightened of the hair band , hurries to loosen up her tight pony bunched, doesn't stop to needle his wife in presence of her father. He needn't care for Appa nor respect him as it's a two way street but how about not making your wife specifically uncomfortable over certain issues that you already know are pesky right? For the record , Mr.Iyer every second of his visit behaved like an Ass /POS during his visit , huffed and puffed his way out like a pesky kid himself.

To be fair to Dude , he on has many occasions has taken specific care to feed his wife but today in the mood she's in she accuses him for not caring to check on her food like how Ranjanji did. Her guilt over her Appa makes her want to overwhelm compensate. Her relationship with Manny is most times restrained. With Sam, the edge is over Lasya as it is. Now with Sam naturally feeling excited for her sister Manny, Everything today just snow balled that's making II see red , all vs her. Minor irritations need just a trigger . It's II and her favorite parent, her father on one side vs partnering Nd blending with in laws on the other side. Today her scales are lopsided , the black rag covering her eyes of justice that's blind ...

Spouses are our favourite readily accessible punching bags. And dude is II's punching bag. It's better that II just sleeps off her bad mood as tomorrow is another day.

Plain, simple kayi Baaton ki ek baat - II is sulking! She behaved badly with appa and then feelings of overprotectivenesss for Nivi...which I am sure would have Been slightly less if she was Ina better mood plus the whole Bhalla clan descending making her feel insecure...therefore she is sulking!

If I had been in Dude's place I would have also not cared to stop Appa. I would have peacefully said good riddance. Such is the equation they share. And the sooner II accepts this fact the better for her. For this equation between Mr. Iyer and dude isn't going to change..

I agree she herself misbehaved with appa not anyone else
Bhalla's r all happy and they hav to be as it's manny's marriage talks and they r bound to be exited and so is dude and in all this I don't want II to make everything and everyone sad especially dude
He is so excited for the marriage
And II is making it difficult due to her insecurity
She need to talk straight instead of going around and punch dude for each and everything
