@jaya Devika will have to be convinced of need to alimony for her daughters. I agree to you. It is her children's right and the father has to give that. But it is better she is independent before that as you never know if alimony comes in large houses such as Rajputs her bhabi's can even take the money and not give her. Only if she knows the basic of finance management which she will have to if she takes up job then the next step can be looked so that it reaches her kids. Also as Sree says Amit has to be free a bit. It is not about Suman being submissive, she has to trust him at this point and not take any independent step without discussing him. Understand that he only has the best interests of Devika and kids just like her. One of the key things I learned from experience is that, this is the point where feminism falters. The need to trust your partner at some crisis points like this. Inability to take the partner's guidance in areas where they might be having more experience than us. It is as bad as patriarchy.

@ Shruthi, hey I didn't expect Suman to be submissive but Devika to be submissive. even if Suman talks aloud, none of her brothers or SILs can do anything to her but Devika has to be the way she is at present, so that Sree gets enough time to plan things properly. At this moment, if Rajput's realize that Varma's are tryig to help out Devika, things will go out of hand not just for Devika but even for Suman to certain extent. Once Amit is free to fight Devika's case, then they can plan the financials in such a way that the amount will be deposited directly to the kids account and that can be utilized just for their education and the lump some amount can be withdrawn only for their wedding which will happen only when they attain an age of say like 21+ ( I can't imagine them wait beyond 21) or so.

With that Devika will have to earn enough to support them for their daily needs like food, cloths etc.

Some times it is bad to give money to a person who had been deprived of that for a long time. That will make the person extravagant in spending and within no time end up empty handed.

Ok, ok got your point. yes those times 20-21 was the standard age of getting a girl married. Yes Sree knows it can risk his and Suman's status quo also Rajputs smell something. I agree to you completely that giving money to those deprived of it for long time is a very bad idea.

Shruthi, Jaya y do u feel Devika will not manage the alimony amount well? She knows her worse condition wouldnt she be very careful with the money??

@Ria Jaya is not talking about the alimony money, she is talking about the money Suman planning to give to her sister. See the money Suman has is her effort. Irrespective of the tiring circumstances she was placed in, the girl has managed to make best out of the opportunity she got. But when she gives that money to Devika, Devika wont understand the effort Suman put to earn it. And she will use it as she pleases. But if Devika gets a job, understands how much effort you put to get your paycheck, she will be in a better position to manage money.

Ria, it is like this. Just imagine a person starving from hunger and had not had food for 3 - 4 days together, and then give him the food and watch how he will eat. Will he think he will begin with starters and then main course etc? No he will not even wait to wash his hands, he will just grab the food and start eating the same in such a rush that he will start choking on that but will not leave the food aside and have water and then eat in gentleman manner. he will just grab the water glass in the same hand smeared with rice and dal or some curry which h used with roti etc. and gulp the entire glass together and start attacking the food yet again.

Forget about that example, just deprive yourself from drinking water or any liquid for a period of few hours in a sunny day and when you are almost famished, you get a bottle of water. Will you take sip by sip or gulp it in one go? Atleast I know I will do the later.

So that is why we said Devika will be on spendfree if she gets hold oh money all of a sudden as she had been deprived of her choice of cloth, food etc as she is dependent on her brothers and father for that expense and the moment she gets it, she will start buying all those thing she had been secretly cherishing so far.

@ Ria, sorry I didn't talk about alimony money. Yes Devika should not be given free hand to use that money as she can't say NO to her brothers or sisters (SILs) if they ask for some from that money pretending to take it as loan which will never come back. She will be in the obligation to give them that as she & her kids have been living with them on their hard earned money for a long time ever since she come back from her sasural. And she can't even demand it back unless they think of returning as she had been living with them for long.

People need to understand the effort of making money. if we don't make them understand they will never understand and take it for granted.

nice update...aww sree is so cute... I know one day suman will complete the sentence...devika's questions were correct...she suffered a lot , so she needs her sister not to suffer like her... but sree will never let her suffer...waiting for next update..
