Smita Sparsha...
Her sister couldnt make it for her wedding. Tai pretended to be sick when Suveccha booked tickets to Mumbai
Neel's mother wanted the wedding to be in Mumbai.
Nihar had completely stopped talking with her or interacting with her, she had sent him a sketch of a Star Wars character she had seen in the Sunday newspaper
He didnt say a word about it
Gomez was shocked when Neel called for a emergency meeting and announced it to him, Suvi was in the room
"Kaisa kiya rey?" Gomez asked mighty confused
"Tum kaisa karta hai?" Neel countered with a smile
Suvi loved his smile, she fell for him each time he smiled, she had tasted that smile, she had felt it with no lights
on in the room, she had felt it with her eye lids, her own lips, and her curves
It made him appear especially harmless
A lump formed in her throat at how much she was allowing herself to fall for him
"Gunda nikla to, both pachtayegi Suvi" Varsha's advice about "hot college boys" in Suvi's college came to mind
"Mera matlab wo nai tha boss, Suvi to kisi ko dhele ka bhao nai deti hai" Gomez looked at her in shock
"To? Main special hai" Neel said
Suvi squirmed... she was extremely private, 90% of the office did not know she had a messy past
Now marrying the boss was the other extreme
Neel thankfully was going to do the PR/Lobbying work for the party in power. They would have separate offices
But they wud still be paid by teh same employer
"Shaadi kab ko hai?" Gomez asked curiously
School chalu honey se pelle" Neel said consulting his phone
Gomez, pushed his laptop to the side as the assistant brought a tray of coffee from Coffee Day in the lobby
Neel pushed things around, the Maldives picture leaned forward, he caught it before it fell face down and crashed
Suvi watched frozen... Neel looked at her afraid she wud have noticed he was paying so much attention to it
Neel fumbled.
He set on the side... still facing him
Gomez was on his phone
"Party ka national convention hai August mein... us se pehle?" he asked
Neel exhaled
"Amma se baat kar lete hain hum, phir confirm karenge" he switched to his chaste polite Hindi
Gomez looked at his mouth
Everytime pure Hindi came out of those lips, it unnerved him... like the form of Neel was Mumbaiya, the words were of some Benaras Hindu University Prof's
"Suvi aap kuch kahengi?" Neel offered
"Umm... mere ko Aadhya ki chhuthhi ka baat karna hai school mein" she said lost
"Woh to hamey bhi karna hai... Nihar ko bhool gayin?" Neel smiled gloriously
A knife twisted in Suvi's gut
"Kaise bhoolegi main" she muttered inaudibly
"School se pelle, apan dono ko kayi meetings karna padega boss" Gomez said as his phone beeped
"Zaroor... Agency President se jab annual meeting karenge July mein, hum yeh baat bhi kar lenge"
"Suvi... kaise chup raythee hai... mere ku ekdum believe nahi ho raha" Gomez was shocked
"Gomez" Suvi warned
"Shitt yaar... mere ko koi hint dene ka na?" he begged
"Gomez, aap mujhe yahan ke campaigns ki status report de dein... Tide ka woh full page Sunday ad preview karwayen" Neel gently peeled Gomez off of Suvi
Gomez sighed reluctantly
"Campaign mein wohi sab kuch... yeh news kya mast dee hai boss" he sighed
"Thanks" Neel said politely
"Suvi... tera proposal toone jo woh ek... kya kehte hain...
woh freelancer ka hunt... woh jis agency se baat ki, wahan ka COO ka phone aaya, woh banda he cant loan the freelancer out to us" Gomez spoke haltingly preoccupied
"Woh keh raha hai toone agency policy follow nahi kiya" Gomez said
"Maine?" Suvi was shocked
"Haan... wohich bola... chal chhod, campaign chhota hai... Pharma hai...
company is big but they are not buying all media spots with us, they are only buying Print. Chhootega to koi tension nahi apne ko magaj maari nahi karne ka" Gomez spoke authoritatively
A Pharma company wanted to sign on the agency for a new heartburn relief print ad
Suvi had contacted an external agency to hire a freelancer with a Pharma education to write the copy for it
But the freelancing agency had declined to loan the copywriter citing "Suvi's hadnt followed agency policy"
"Gomez acting Dividion head hum hain" Neel was a lil irritated
"Main to bachane ki koshish kar raha hai boss... its too late... they will most likely take the campaign to Mudra... Web banner, YT, TV sab unkoich milne ka hai boss" Gomez spoke like a loser
"Hamari baat karwayen please" Neel said firmly
"Okieee" Gomez nodded
Neel leaned forward almost urging Gomez to leave
Which he did eventually
Suvi got up too
"Aapne apni landlord se baat kee?" he asked politely
"Mere ko lease todne ka hey... makaan maalik both uncooperative hey" Suvi said softly
"Humse karwayengi baat?" he smiled slowly
"Abhi husband to huye nai... abich kya baat karne ka?" she smiled slowly
"Aadat daalne ki koshish kar rahe hain hum" he said grinning fully
"Apan dono ko aadat to hey" she said without thinking
"Mere ko aadat ... bina shaadi ke" she spoke softly and clearly
They were both quiet for a while...
Neel's expression turned somber...
"Aapko bura laga humne tasveer ko tootne nahi diya?" he asked slowly
She shook her head quietly
"Nihar" she said as if that answered his question
In her mind she answered it that way... Nihar will always represent Nupur to her... no matter how many years go by
"Apne baat karne ki koshish ki?" he asked about Nihar
"Usko abhi time dene ka hai" she said quietly
She could put all her happiness of knowing, loving, wanting, needing Neel on one side, and on the other... she could now put Nihar.
Their friendship was uncomplicated and untouched by drama... The word marriage had brought it to an abrupt end
"Varsha aayengi?" he asked
"Nai" Suvi said as her eyes began to fill up, she quietly rotated the clasp of the ball point pen she held in her hand, fighting heartbreak as she replayed Varsha's words in her mind
"Mee puna garbhavati aahey Suviii" "aasha tu sagya nirnay aahet" "ghaighai ne nirnay nako karu" stressing how much more important it was than
Suvi's wedding, admonishing her not to be hasty, to think it through as if Suvi was seeking advice to buy a house or a car.
"Me tujhi bahin aahe" (I am your SISTER, your advice is so impersonal) Suvi had explained sadly
"Bhavanavash bahin" (oh that impulsive sister) Varsha had responded
He got up and walked over to where she was
"Chaliye hum Mamiji aapko saunmpte hain" (I am going to pass along my family) he said
hoisting her from the pits of sorrow, he lifted the hand that twisted the pen, and placed it on the edge of his lips/cheek, so she could feel the smile
