Part 19

" So you are expecting him to come here and try to convince us. Get one thing straight, Khushi. I am not going to make it any easier for him. You were easy on him by telling him that you will accept him back if we do but don't expect the same from me," warned Shashi while Khushi nodded her head in agreement knowing that Shashi was justified in his position.

Before Khushi could reveal her agreement in words, one of the caretakers of the mansion appeared before them and informed,

" Sir, someone wants to meet you. He is waiting downstairs."

"Could it be Arnav?" wondered Khushi while Shashi nodded and moved to the living room. Khushi decided to follow him downstairs to erase her own curiosity and she saw her thoughts and doubts materialize into reality as it was Arnav Singh Raizada who was standing in her living room, waiting for her father.

Quite opposite to the smile that graced on her lips, it was a sneer which adorned Shashi's face. He was angry to see the man who dared to hurt his daughter so badly, standing in his house without fear on his face. Khushi could feel his anger from his body language and she decided that she would let it be the way it has to be.

" " YOU? How dare you walk into my house after ill treating my daughter?" Shashi Gupta screamed at Arnav Singh Raizada while Khushi eyed at them nonchalantly. She had promised NK and herself that it would just be Arnav's battle and she was not going to interfere.

" Uncle please-" Shashi was in no mood to listen to Arnav's words and dragged him by his hand till he was on the other side of threshold.

" Do not dare to step in again, Raizada! I am not going to let my daughter suffer due to you again."

If pushing Arnav outside couldn't fetch a reaction from Khushi then shutting the door with a bang on his face succeeded in fetching so. Khushi was taken by shock when she found herself viewing her father closing the door on her husband's face, who was trying to get his point across.

But Khushi was quick to take the control back from her emotions. A part of her screamed that he deserved the ill treatment for all the treatment she received from him at Shantivan but another part of her fought, rebelled and broke when her eyes caught the last glimpse of his eyes-filled with guilt, just as the door shut with a thud.

She eyed at the ground beneath her feet as she blinked back the tears. Tears of pain, of anger and of love. Of that love which transcended both the pain and the anger and wretched her soul.

A part of her posed a question to the saner part of her, and she could only assume that it was her emotions which were posing the question- would he have felt the same pain when he shoved her against the wall, hurled abuses at her or when he claimed to hate her?

The saner part of her chuckled inwardly and Khushi was sure that she was not assuming it; when he hated her with such intensity and passion, why would he feel bad about hurting her? Hell, would he have even realized that he was hurting her?

Her head shot up as she heard the signs of ruckus on the other side of the door. Probably Arnav was putting up a fight with security who were asked to lead his way out. Nothing but a plank of wood separating them physically and so many layers of misunderstandings and pain separating them mentally. Unable to bear the suffocation which her memories were bringing, Khushi jolted towards her room and crashed on the soft mattress after safely locking her room.

She was sure that sleep was unattainable to her that night. Only if she knew that someone else on the other side of the plank had landed on the same conclusion.

-----------------------------------------

One of the habits of Khushi which never changed was reading the news early in the morning and she had no reason to escape it, given that reading something would just distract her better. But fate had decided something else for her.

The first sight which greeted her puffy eyes and slightly tear-stained face was that of Arnav Singh Raizada, leaning against the wall in the doorway and sleeping. The image perceived by Khushi had both overwhelmed and appalled her. Khushi slid down the wall beside Arnav, not caring that anyone could see them, while eying Arnav with intense love.

To ascertain herself that it was truly the love of her life who had spent the night, waiting for her, outside her house she ran her dainty fingers over his cold skin, only to be alarmed that he had grown incredibly cold over night.

Khushi shouted for the security with the her tone clearly hinting at her panic at Arnav's condition. Security rushed to Khushi, only to receive her instructions in a pace they could hardly decipher at but they managed to understand that she wanted them to move Arnav to her room.

No one else was awake in the Gupta house, making it easy for Khushi to bring Arnav into the house. Khushi covered him with a duvet after he was placed on the bed. She couldn't help but notice that he hadn't even worn his shoes, which means that he was never ready to leave her place.

Khushi leered at Arnav's sleeping face as she leaned towards him and placed a chase, yet long kiss on his forehead. Hoping that Arnav was not awake and had not caught her kissing him, as she sensed movement from his side, Khushi turned around to leave only to be stopped by a tug at hem of her dress.

Khushi realized that he was holding the dress in a vice-like-grip deep in his sleep, when she turned around to look at him. Taking a deep breath in, Khushi tried to release the hem from his grip, only to wake him up in the process
