Around 4 PM ish Ranjan texted her "Doc apptt kinne vaje haiga puttar"
She had completely forgotten all about it after going in to work. It was a crazy busy morning filled with meetings and tool crashes and multiple PC re boots
"bhool gayi Dad. Munirka mein Shubhang to tang kar rahi hogi" she wrote proudly
"She is home beta" Ranjan wrote after a pause
She immediately called him
"AAP laaye?" she panicked
"Nahi... woh tera miyan laaya usko, usne 11 baje aas paas apni oatmeal throw up kitha see... soyee hai nahii... becharon pareshan kar diya, they are older people beta, aapne bina poochhe kaise chhoda" Ranjan was agitated with her
She began to explain "Dad hamesha Sam ko tang karti hoon main, R&B had meetings and couldnt watch her he said, we dont have a full time nanny, u had a special day" Ii explained
"Keda special" he scolded
"Main aaoon ghar?"
"Abhi to khair, ren do... woh le gaya doctor nu dikhaan waaste" he said
"Kya kaha?" she asked fearfully
"Teri baat nahi hui?" Ranjan asked startled
"Umm.. not yet... Ive been in and out of the server room, some tool we are trying to deploy in house first caused a partial cloud outage" she explained
"Bas cold hai, ear infection haiga" he said
"PHIR SE ear infection?" Ii was disappointed
"Haan she is still a baby" he argued reminding II that she shudnt expect too much
"Dad I dont usually forget" she explained
"Theek hai puttarjee, usko keh shaammi" he said sighing
She didnt ask if R&B was pissed, she knew it already
She got home at 8 without calling him once
She sat on the swing eating cheerios, looking better than morning
ONE dose of meds made a world of difference, as usual
"How is she?" she asked
"better" he said putting his book down
Ii grabbed and coddled her and cooed to her
Nivi offered her a soggy cheerio, II ate it smiling
"What were you thinking?" he asked baffled
"I am sorry I had a crisis at work" she said bristling
"You took her to MUNIRKA?" he charged
"Umm... yeah... Akka raised two" she countered, mocking him
"Akka being the operative word... he has lost all his hearing, she is unable to walk holding Nivi when she wiggles" R&B WAS FURRRIOUS all over again
"You said u cant be bothered, Dad had Japs coming in, I have asked Sam a 100 times, Appa was going to go to C Sec, Amma has school, Manya is out of town not that she would watch her even if she was in town" II took a pot shot at Manya angering him more
"So its Manya and my fault?" he was livid
"No... its nobody's fault, she is sick... u are over reacting" she said coldly
"NO... she almost choked on her oatmeal, Bala's Mom had to request Mrs Khan from ground floor to come up and care for her while she handled a tantrumy Shubhang" he said bluntly
II was startled
"I didnt know" she said softly
"Now you do..." he said, reaching for his daughter
"I said I am sorry"
"No u said u were sorry for the cloud freeze" he corrected her

"I am sorry I shud have applied for and obtained your permission before sending her to Munirka
"Cut that snark out... II (he exhaled audibly, as if he was holding back anger) you messed up" he gloated
"Thanks... for being so supportive da" she snarked again, with a smile
