Chapter 59
At night
Rajveer parks his jeep and gets out of it. He bends into his jeep through the front door, to bring out few papers, completely oblivious to the fact that Naina is reaching him, from his behind. Hearing the chime of her bangles, Rajveer turns to look who it is!
"Naina tum?" he asks, surprised."Ji! Kya hua?" asks Naina, surprised too."Tum iss waqt yahan kya kar rahi ho? Tumhe to iss waqt academy mein hona chahiye!" declares Rajveer, puzzled! "Academy mein?"asks Naina, shocked."Acha, matlab aap bhul gaye?"asks Naina, acting to be angry at him. "Bhul..."as he starts to speak, he realizes! Blushing, on having forgotten about their plan. He looks heavenwards, smiling.
"I..." he starts to apologize, but his foolishness on having forgotten about the plan of his first 'date' with his wife, makes him to stop and he shakes his head out of embarrassment. Naina too starts shaking her head in a slow rhythm, as a gesture of saying 'I can't believe this!' Her gesture makes him to feel even more guilty and he blushes further. Seeing him blushing and not meeting her eyes out of shyness makes Naina to burst out into a laugh. Rajveer enjoys looking at her, laughing.
"Tum mera mazak uda rahi ho?" he asks, narrowing his eyes on her, on purpose. "Nahi... nahi main...",Naina tries to word her feelings but her another fit of laughter makes it impossible for her to say anything. Rajveer's laugh follows hers.
After relaxing, Rajveer sets his eyes on her attire. Wearing a simple pair of white kurti-churidar, accompanied by a white duppatta, she looks beautiful. The fact that she didn't try to put extra make up, apart from her kaajal makes Rajveer to fall for her even more! And also she made an effort to put the kaajal which is highlighting her already beautiful eyes, the part of her which he loves the most, makes him to fall for her all over again, a little more this time!
She is just the way he wants her to be. She understands his tastes perfectly. And he knows, it's not only because he would like her to be in such an attire that she chose to wear the outfit, it's rather a mutual choice of the couple. All this make him feel proud of her. After checking out her attire, he looks into her eyes and smiles. His eyes describes his feelings to Naina perfectly, as always. And as always, Naina smiles back, first time not to Captain Rajveer but to her husband Rajveer! Today it is indeed a row of firsts for her - first love letter! first date! first smile to her husband! She wonders how many more firsts are waiting for her. How many more firsts can she deal with in just a single day!
"Anyways apne mujhey 1900 hours pe report karne ko bola tha to main yahan aa gayi". It's then he checks the time and to his surprise, it was exactly 1900 hours. "Aur aap chahte the ki main ek different outfit mein aun to... ye dekhiye", Naina reminds him, with a smile and blush on her face. Rajveer again checks her out and says, "'tumhe conditions yaad the? Maine to firse mention bhi nahi kia tha!" as soon as he says this, he realizes what he just said and tries to rectify his line, "I mean..." and blushes, "ek minute... tumhe pata hai hum kahan ja rahe hain?" he asks, trying to hide his blush. Naina raises her eyebrows, looking straight into his eyes and starts blushing. Lowering his eyes, Rajveer smiles and blushes more.
"Ab to main Point 1857 chal sakti hun na?" asks Naina, innocently, smiling. Out of shynees Rajveer smiles and shuts his eyes and covers his face with the file he had been holding all this time. Then bringing the file down from in front of his face, he looks at Naina with the same smile and blushed face. Naina smiles back at him. "Bilkul ja sakti ho" saying this he turns to place the file back into his jeep, when Naina asks, "Sir, hum jeep mein jayenge ya..." raising her shoulders as a gesture of 'kaise?' she asks "Kaise?""Naina do (2) baatein, pehli..." saying this he moves forth, away from her, and places his right forearm on the frame of his jeep, "Point 1857 ki ye last condition hai", then remembering he alters his words and says,"Nahi actually second last condition hai... wahan par..." he points towards a far away point, too far, not visible through naked eye, then continues, "sirf paidal jaya ja sakta hai, sirf paidal", then he lowers his eyes, trying to check Naina's reaction to this, through his peripheral vision.
Naina walks forth, suddenly getting serious, her concentration, set on the point where Rajveer just pointed and she notices, there is nothing out there which looks catchy or worth visiting. Standing behind her, resting his arm on the bonnet of his jeep, Rajveer tilts his head a little to the right, trying to check her reaction. "Ahun..." he says, shaking his head to a 'no', then looks to the point where she is staring and says,"bina binoculars ke nahi dekh paogi". Then walking to the right, he shares some information about the place with her, "janti ho Point 1857, sirf durr hi nahi hai, balki KMA ki sabse unchi pahadi hai, subse unchi pahadi!", the whole time he keeps a check on the change of her reactions. Naina walks forth, creasing her brows, trying to locate the place as much as possible.
Walking behind her, Rajveer tries to tease her saying,"Raasta mushkil zarur hai, unchai bhi thodi zada zarur hai", then reaching his car's bonnet again and resting his elbow on it he turns to look at her and says,"lekin chalega, nahi Cadet?" "I mean Naina!" he adds quickly.
Naina turns to look at him, with full confidence and determination in her eyes she says, "unchai jitni bhi ho, lekin mere iradon se unchi nahi hai!" Her confidence brings a grand smile on his face, his heart swells with pride. He reminds himself yet again with too much pride that Cadet Naina Ah Singh is indeed his best cadet, who is his wife today, his soulmate! And not at any cost he regrets his decision of choosing her as his soulmate, his wife! In fact she is proving this to be the best decision of his life. And of course she is the only who deserves to visit Point 1857 with him, no one else but her!
(Rajveer-Naina fast tune begins in the background as they stare each other with nothing but love and respect for the each other in their eyes)
"Tum nahi manogi?" he asks the last time, smiling a little. At this she smiles and asks, "chalein?" "chalo!"says Rajveer and they stare each other.
Rajveer starts walking forth, when Naina calls him from behind, asking, "ahmm... apne do (2) shart kahi thi! Dusri shart kya hai?" She creases her brows trying to think what the other condition could be. Smiling, Rajveer says, "mujhey laga tum bhul gayi hogi. Aur maine socha ki rehne deta hun dusri condition", blushing a little, he turns to look at her. This second line of his, makes her more desperate to know the second condition. Looking directly into her eyes, Rajveer smiles and says, "meri dusri condition ye hai Naina ki... aj tum... mujhey Sir nahi mere naam se bulaogi! Jab tak ki hum akele ek saath hai, hum mentor aur protegee nahi balki...", he looks deeply into her eyes before saying further. "Balki?"asks Naina, staring back at him, her eyes soft on him, although she knows what's going to follow the word!"Balki pati-patni hain!" completes Rajveer, his heart thumping inside his chest.
Listening to his words makes Naina's blood to rush to her face. Out of too much happiness she finds it difficult to end the eye contact with Rajveer. After what looks like eternity Naina gets back to her normal self, and says, "main... apko..." she trails off the line. Out of hesitation she looks elsewhere, "Nahi! Nahi main apko, apko apke naam se nahi bula sakti"declares Naina, all serious, creasing her brows.
****
"Kyun? Kyun nahi bula sakti?" he asks creasing his brows out of frustration. "Main apko kaise..." she says looking into his eyes.
(Rajveer-Naina slow tune begins in the background)
Getting a bit closer to her, lowering his voice, he asks, "bharosa nahi hai mujh par?"
(Rajveer-Naina tune begins in the background)
Looking deep into his eyes, with too much faith on him, she asks, "kya aaj tak kabhi aisa hua hai ki aap par bharosa na kia ho maine?"
(Rajveer-Naina tune continues in the background, as they keep staring each other deeply!) Her words and her eyes assure him that everything is fine between them.
"To ek baar..." he trails off, looking deeply into her eyes, reflecting his urgency to hear his name by her voice. His gaze makes her cheeks to turn crimson red, his demand makes the color turn deeper! She feels the urgency to lift off the weight, it becomes intolerable, with each passing moment. She tries to look away, but his constant gaze demands from her to return back the gaze with equal velocity and magnitude. "Rajveer..." she breathes out.
Listening to his name from her voice for the very first time without the suffix 'Sir' attached to it makes Rajveer's heart to beat in altogether different pace. The softness in his eyes is now taken over by his lust for his wife.
He takes his left hand towards her right cheek, his gaze hot on her, burning her skin. Inside her head, she fights, wanting to burn in his gaze and touch and on the contrary she also wants to get away from him, get away from this feeling.
And at last his hand touches her cheek, and as if it's a reflex action, she closes her eyes and breathes deeply. He moves towards her, aching close and suddenly he drops his hand down. Moving towards her ear, he whispers, "Aaj chu lia hai! Ab, main tumhe tab tak nahi chunga Naina, jab tak tum nahi chahogi". He speaks each word achingly slow, giving her time not only to understand but to feel his each word.
And soon as he ends up with this line, as if out of jealousy she gets desperate for his touch, she opens her eyes and keeps staring him, unable to word her feelings. Rajveer stares back, a satisfactory smile on his lips, after realizing by the look on her face and the regret in her eyes, what she wants! Rajveer understands that she craves for his touch as much as he craves to touch her and feel her. But no! he won't go easy on her. He won't let her get everything so easily.
'to kya tum mujhse baat karna chorna chahti ho?'
'don't you even dare to answer that question of mine!'
'Aap samjh kyun nahi rahe...'
'Tum kyun nahi samjh rahi?' he shouts at her.
'bus kuch dino ki baat hai, dheere-dheere sub theek ho jayega!'
'Naina...'
A smile comes on his face as he remembers their prior conversation or their prior fight! Looking straight into her eyes, with a smile on his face, "bus kuch dino ki baat hai, dheere-dheere sub theek ho jayega. Tum mujhe samjh kyun nahi rahi ho?" he repeats her words to her. Knowing it perfectly, that this will make her go angry and make her embarrassed at the same time. And that is exactly what he wants, to witness the pinch of irritation and anger on her face. It's not going to be always him demonstrating his feelings, it's time now, she needs to take the first step, not for him; not for her; but for them! "Chalein?" he asks at last. And not in a position to reply back, she nods her head to a 'yes'!
The journey to Point 1857 is not an easy one. The not so smooth path, makes their walk difficult. Rajveer leads the way, but of course walks close to Naina. Naina tries to remain careful throughout the journey, that she doesn't end up falling down. But she gets so excited about the fact that she is going to reach Point 1857 at last, that if not fall but she certainly trips. "Ahh..." she cries out a little. But thankfully Rajveer was there inches away from her, so she holds him by his arm to prevent herself from the fall.
Rajveer turns to check if she is okay, creasing his brows, worried about her. Getting satisfied that she is indeed okay, he smiles and teases her, "Cadet Singh, ek soldier ho kar apko apne 'pati' ke sahare ki zarurat parh rahi hai? I am disappointed in you", and he makes a disappointed face, trying to irritate Naina. And irritated is what she is or rather ashamed on hearing his comment. And just to get away from that feeling, Naina beats Rajveer on his upper arm, playfully. Her first bold gesture, that boldly implies her position in his life makes Rajveer's heart to swell and he laughs wholeheartedly.
They continue with their journey. "Dekho Naina main tumhe disheartened nahi kar raha hun. Par wahan wakai aisa kuch nahi hai. Itni mehnat karke wahan jane se acha hai ki, ki hum abhi wapas laut chaley", says Rajveer. Naina occasionally holds him when she feels that she might trip. Rajveer holds the branches of the trees away, that get on their way occasionally, and makes way for them. "Sir maine aap hi se seekha hai...", her words make him to halt and he half turns his face towards her, paying attention to her words. "Ki ek fauji ko apne mission mein successful hona chahiye". Her words succeed in bringing a smile on his face, and he feels proud that she pays attention to whatever he teaches her, consciously or unconsciously. "Alright! Move on!" he says turning to look at her, then again he turns back and walks ahead.
But suddenly he grabs her hand and pushes her towards the bark of a tree, taking her by surprise. In utter shock by his sudden behavior, she cries out, "Ahh..."! Pinning her to the bark of the tree, by placing his arms on either side of her face, he looks deeply into her eyes and asks, "kya kaha tumne?"
(Rajveer-Naina tune begins in the background)
His scrutinizing look makes her throat go dry. "Main..." she starts but finds it impossible to complete the line. Rajveer pays attention to the irregular up and down movement of her chest, too quick. "Rajveer..." she whispers, using too much force to make herself audible. He moves his lips towards hers, unable to bear the feeling anymore Naina shuts her eyes tightly, her cheeks burning, her heart throbbing frantically. Rajveer looks at her vulnerability, his lips still inches away from hers. Smiling a little, enjoying the vulnerability of his beautiful wife, he gets away from her.
On realizing that the heat emitted by his body is no longer falling on her, Naina opens her eyes and finds him standing in front of her, away from her, his arms crossed and little smile on his lips. His sweet torture makes her go mad at him but she tries to relax herself down. She looks anywhere but at him. "Chalo!" he commands casually, turning, he starts moving forth.
Gaining her equilibrium, Naina moves after him.
"Agey ka raasta aur mushkil hai Naina, soch lo", he warns her lightly, as he moves forth. To this she remains quiet, still in the process of getting back to normal after the last encounter with him. Although angry at him, but she holds his hand. Without looking back at her, Rajveer tightens the grip.
Soon they climb further with a help of rope, "be careful!", he warns her as he leads the way. Naina who is climbing behind him, asks him, "Ye KMA ka highest point hai na? Fir issey..." as she reaches this word, her foot slips, but Rajveer holds her hand at the correct moment and prevents her from falling back. Naina blushes and smiles at his gesture. Seeing his care Naina couldn't resist from asking, "apko ladne ke saath-saath care karna bhi aata hai? Ye mujhey ab pata chala"!
(Rajveer-Naina tune begins in the background, as they stare each other)
To wake her up from the daze, Rajveer let go off her hand, but within a friction of seconds, he holds her back. He only meant to punish her lightly for her tease. "Ahh... Rajveer..." shouts Naina, not too loudly. Her terror makes Rajveer to laugh. "Hahaha!" Seeing him laughing makes Naina angry again, "aap koi mauka nahi chorte na mujhey punish karne ka?" asks Naina, glaring at him. To this Rajveer replies, laughing, "issey punish karna nahi p..."
(Rajveer-Naina tune begins in the background, they keep staring each other)
Understanding his unsaid words, Naina lowers her eyes out of shyness.
Lowering his eyes Rajveer turns back and continues with the climbing, "anyways tum kuch puch rahi thi!" he reminds her. "Ahmm... haan!". Getting back her equilibrium, she completes her question, "fir ussey Point 1857 hi kyun kehte hain?"
A mischievous thought comes to his mind as he listens to her question. "Cadet Singh main tumhe teen (3) chance deta hun", he tells her, giving up the hold on her hand after ensuring that she is alright. "Agar tumne sahi guess nahi kia to..." he trails off. "To? Aap mujhey nahi le jayenge?" she asks, completing his incomplete line, giving him an intent look from behind. This brings an infectious smile on Rajveer's face and he replies, "smart girl!" His reply irks her.
"Aap har baat pe shart kyun rakhte hain? Kya maine apke samne koi shart rakhi thi iss anchahe rishte ko nibhane ke liye?" her question takes him by surprise. Her words were so true, she hasn't questioned him till now for his action, this brings a smile on his face, that she trusts him to make a decision for her. But on the other hand her words 'iss anchahe rishte ko nibhane ke liye' makes him to frown at her too.
Realizing what she has said, Naina tries to rectify, "I... I didn't... mean...", she sighs unable to frame a proper sentence, out of guilt. He was somehow glad that the spot light is back to her and away from him. "Your time starts now!" he commands her. Understanding that he is angry on hearing her words but still trying to maintain calm, she sighs.
Taking his words as a challenge, she starts guessing, "ahmm... kahin ye 1857, azadi se pehle ki jagah to nahi?", she climbs further with too much effort. Her creased brows, her heavy breathing and the effort she uses to speak each line, make it clear that the journey is not a very comfortable one. "Keep guessing Cadet Singh" replies Rajveer. Where on one hand Naina is breathing heavily, there on the other side Rajveer's breathing rate is comparatively calmer. Naina tries to guess further, "shayad kisi Britisher ne issey khoja hoga 1857 mein?" "Try harder!" "1857 feet above the sea level, am I right?" she asks, excited, as if confident that she can't be wrong this time.
Breathing heavily now, at the point where they are almost to reach their destination , just a few kilometers more, Rajveer enjoys Naina's guesses. Witnessing her confidence in her latest answer, brings a grand smile on his face, "You are absolutely..." he pauses, making her to burn a little more in the fire of desire to get the answer and then he replies, "wrong, Cadet Singh!" "Sir! Please bataiye na. Rajveer please", she pleads. By now they reach the top. Reaching on the plain land, Rajveer helps her to climb up, extending his hand to her, "come! come!" "come on!" and she reaches the plain surface, she holds him by his shoulders to support her body weight.
In the messed up state Naina's duppatta rises above her chest. As soon as Rajveer's eyes fall on her chest area and the area that follows her chest, a desire burns inside Rajveer, but knowing that he shouldn't rush and it is not appropriate to think about all this right now or else he might end up taking a step that he might regret later, he lowers his eyes. Drifting his mind from all those thoughts Rajveer says, "Chalo! Abhi aur bhi bohot chalna hai".
Soon they reach the exact 'Point 1857'. The blowing wind blows her hair and her duppatta but she manages to keep them in place somehow. Getting excited and smiling wholeheartedly, Naina says, "Wow! To ye hai Point 1857!" exclaims Naina and she runs forward to the empty land where she is standing. There is nothing high class there, not any lavish restaurant or hotel has been built there. No classy people crave for visiting this place. Crave? Well they won't even know that a place like this exists on Earth!
A place where there is calmness, where the wind that's blowing isn't mixed with pollutants, but with the fragrance of love, the fragrance of romance. A place where a couple who is deeply in love can get alone time to spend together. A couple who has just got married, had an arranged marriage, can fall in love with each-other forever, if they come and visit this place for once. But Rajveer, he is not sure what it is that Rajveer and Naina are into - an arranged marriage or...!
He blushes on thinking about categorizing his status of marriage. Shaking his head, he let go the thought. Well it doesn't matter to him, what they had an arranged marriage or the other one. The thing that matters is Naina is going to be with him, forever. And right now there is another thing of course that matters to him, that she is happy being here.
He sighs and realizes that he had been nervous throughout their journey, wondering how will she react on seeing Point 1857! Will it meet up to her expectations? The smile and the mere word 'WOW!' that he got from her, soothed all his doubts and nervousness. She is happy, he knows it, and it is all that matters to him.
"It's amazing!" her compliment wakes Rajveer from his daze. He blushes and lowers his eyes on listening to her words. He walks forth to reach her.
(A sweet tune begins in the background as he moves towards her)
He keeps looking at her intently throughout his walk towards her with a smile on his lips. His jacket flickering as je moves against the motion of the wind. His eyes fixed on her.
Naina enjoys looking at hundreds of simple white flags surrounding her from either side. "This is simply beautiful!" she appreciates.
Reaching her Rajveer stares straight ahead towards the open field, stretched in front of his eyes and says, "han yahi hai wo aitihasik 'Point 1857'"! Naina looks towards him, smiling. But Rajveer keeps staring ahead. Pointing towards the area in front of them, he says, "lekin maine tumse kaha tha na, yahan par aisa kuch bhi nahi hai!". Then turning his face to look at her, he continues, "jiske liye humein itni mehnat karni parhe!" "Ahmm... lekin Bhaiya ki diary mein to iss jagah ka zikr bar-bar hai!" replies Naina, smiling whole heartedly. The smile on her face, makes Rajveer to realize yet again that how much happy she is on visiting this place. And this in return makes Rajveer happy. Also the truth that Naina approves of this place, makes Rajveer to blush out of too much happiness! "Aisi kya khaas baat hai iss jagah mein?" asks Naina, turning to look at him and smiling.
Lowering his head, with a smile on his face, Rajveer replies, nodding his head, "hai!" They both look towards each-other. They start moving forth as he dictates the story, " 'Point 1857' boys cadets ke liye ek bohot hi special jagah hai". Naina looks towards him. "Ye wo jagah hai jahan par faculty ke nazron se durr, KMA ke boys cadets...", blushing and smirking a little, Rajveer continues, "apni girlfriends ko lekar aya karte the", he completes his line, hanging his head down, out of shyness.
Smiling, Naina asks, "phir... 1857 hi kyun? Kya pyar ke liye revolt karna zaruri hai?", blushing, she looks towards him. Closing his eyes, blushing, Rajveer says, "Oh!... no!", he hangs his head down. Then looking and pointing in front, with his index finger, he informs her, "Naina..." then turning to address her, "Point 1857 ka kranti se koi lena dena nahi hai", he gestures with his hand simultaneously. Then looking forward again, "ye sirf ek count hai, unn couples ka jo yahan pe kabhi aye the". Then moving forward he continues, "aur yahan aakar kuch hanseen lamhe saath guzare", saying this Rajveer lowers his eyes out of shyness. On listening to this line, Naina mirrors his action and lowers her eyes too. Then looking forward, Rajveer continues, "aur fir KMA se pass out hone ke baad shadi ke bandhan mein humesha ke liye bandh gaye". As he was so indulged in his thoughts, he didn't realize Naina has stopped walking with her. On realizing it though, Rajveer turns to look at her and asks, creasing his brows, "kya hua?" Naina stares him for sometime before asking, "kya isliye aap mujhey yahan lana nahi chahte the? Aur ab isliye laye hain kyunki humari..." she trails off the line knowing that he'll understand what she wants to say.
Her sudden inquiry takes him by surprise. He keeps staring her, standing at his exact position.
(Rajveer-Naina fast tune begins in the background)
After staring her for sometime, Rajveer says, creasing his brows, "I am surprised Naina ki tum aisa sochti ho!". His words interprets it perfectly, that how much hurt he is on hearing those words from her.
Lowering her eyes out of shame, her cheeks turning crimson red on hearing his remark, Naina almost whispers to him, "I am sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just that... I mean..." she finds it difficult to word her feelings appropriately. Realizing that she needs to know, Rajveer tells her, still angry, "Naina did you just realize that ye ek lovers' point hai?" "Lover's point, jahan lovers aatey hain! Kya kehta main tumhe?" he asks her, creasing his brows. "Ye ki Naina nahi hum wahan nahi ja sakte kyunki...", he stops, Naina looks into his eyes, "kyunki hum exactly lovers nahi hain?" he finishes his sentence.
Naina keeps staring him, seriously, then bursts out into a laugh, "Exactly lovers? Ye kya tha?" she asks in between her laugh. But this doesn't affect him, he still remains angry. Realizing that he is mad at her, her face drops, and she apologizes, "acha sorry, I understand. Par aap mujhey ek baar keh kar to dekhte?", she tells him softly. Her statement drags more of his attention, "agar main tumhe such bata deta to kya tum aati mere saath?", Rajveer holds his breath as he waits for her to answer. Holding his gaze Naina blushes a little, then lowering her eyes, she says or rather asks, "Kya maine kabhi apke kisi decision se inkar kiya hai?" The smile on her face makes it clear to him that she would have come with her wholeheartedly rather forcefully. His heart fills with even more love again on hearing her innocent answer. A smile spreads on his face.
They move forth and find a bench placed at a corner. Sitting on it, they stare in front of them and enjoy the feeling of cold breeze, none of them saying anything, just enjoying the calmness and the presence of each other. Rajveer turns to look at her and keeps staring her, while Naina keeps staring ahead, a smile on her face, a smile of satisfaction. "Thank you!" says Rajveer, out of blue, now half turned towards Naina. His words take Naina by surprise, "Thank you? Kis liye?" asks Naina, looking towards him, creasing her brows. "Mere diye hue earrings pehne ke liye". Naina blushes, keeping her eyes fixed on her nails, Naina tells him, "mujhey achey lage. Thank you". Rajveer smiles at her innocent gesture.
"Tum mujhse gussa ho?", he asks after staring her for sometime, never breaking the stare. Surprised on hearing his words, Naina looks into his eyes, creasing her brows, she asks, "Gussa? Kis liye?" "Humara rishta iss tarah achanak badal gaya. Maine tumse pucha bhi nahi aur tumhari zindagi ka itna bada faisla le liya. I mean mujhey to ye bhi nahi pata ki kya tum kisi se...", he couldn't complete his line. He didn't have the heart to ask the question to her.
He realizes it was foolish of him that he didn't consider the possibility that she could actually have someone in her life, when he took the step! Naina looks at him, shocked. She couldn't believe that he actually asked her that. "Main kisi se kya?" she forces him to complete his question, hurt. Shaking her head a little, with too much pain in her eyes, she asks him, "jab mentorship camp mein apne zabardasti mere gaal par keechad lagaya tha, tab apne ye socha tha?" Her question takes him by surprise.
He remembers how he forcefully rubbed his cheek against hers , jealous, when she laughed at him. "Naina...!", he says, not ending the eye contact. "Jab Freshers' Party mein apne mere saath dance kia tha, kya tab apne socha tha ki shayad mere saath dance karne ka haq kisi aur ka hai?" her words reflect how hurt she is. Holding her hand, Rajveer apologizes sincerely, "I am sorry!" Naina tries to distance herself from him, she shifts away, she even tries to let go off his hold on her hand but he tightens his hold as he realizes that she is not giving up on trying to get away from him. He pulls her closer, enveloping her by putting his left arm around her waist. Naina keeps her eyes lowered, on to his chest. They fight silently, the only noise that is audible is the sound of the sweet chime of her bangles, which attracts Rajveer to Naina even more. Although she tries too hard to let go, but Rajveer never leaves her hands.
He keeps staring her throughout, knowing that his stare always makes her weak. But when he realizes that she is not giving up on trying, he pulls her closer, enveloping her by putting his arms around her waist. Naina keeps her eyes lowered, on to his chest, and puts her hand on his chest, to ensure little distance between them. "Itna gussa Naina? Ab to maine sorry bhi bol dia!" says Rajveer, his voice low. Naina doesn't meet his eyes although Rajveer waits for her to do so. "Itni mehnat karke tumhe yahan laya, ladne ke liye?" he asks her, maintaining the same note of voice. At this Naina looks into his eyes, they keep staring each other.
(Rajveer-Naina slow tune begins in the background as they keep staring each other)
"Kya hua?" he asks. "Aap kyun kar rahe hain aise?" she asks back. Smiling a little, he says, "kyunki main tumhara pati hun". They keep staring each other. "Kyunki ye mera haq hai" then he pauses again. "Kyunki main iss pal ka tabse intezaar kar raha tha, jab se maine tumhe pehli baar dekha tha", he admits, looking deeply into her eyes. "Kyunki main janta hun ki jitna nervous main tha yahan aney ke liye, utni hi nervous tum bhi thi. Tum ab bhi ho. Aur mujhey tumhari ye nervousness durr karni hai". Naina smiles! Rajveer continues, "kyunki main chahta hun ki aaj jab hum yahan se jayein to uske baad tum mujh par apna haq jatane se bilkul hichkichao nahi!"
"Naina, kya tum iss rishte se khush nahi ho?" he asks, remembering her prior words 'iss anchahe rishte ko nibhane ke liye'. "Pehle aap mujhey choriye", says Naina, blushing. "Hmm... aur agar maine kaha ki main tumhe nahi chorna chahta?" Naina looks into his eyes, "Rajveer, aaj apko ho kya gaya hai?" she asks, blushing a little. Smiling, he replies, "tumhari galti hai!" "Meri?" she asks, unable to understand, how could she be responsible. "Main to avoid kar raha tha yahan ana. Ab agar aisi jagah par ek pati apni itni khoobsurat patni ke saath ho to asar to parhega hi na?" Naina blushes harder, and tries to control her laughter, that his statement is causing. Rajveer leaves her and resumes to his normal self, blushing a little more. Naina tucks the strand of her hair behind her ear, self consciously. "Tumne mere sawal ka jawab nahi diya" reminds Rajveer, tightening his hold on her, as if he is afraid that he might hear something that he wouldn't like to hear. Sighing, Naina tightens her hold on him as well. Taking her gesture as an affirmation, Rajveer gives out a sigh of relief, closing his eyes, a smile touches his lips.
After sometime he leaves her. "Ahmm... waise subah se aap the kahan?", her question drains the blood out of his face. Naina waits for an answer. She doesn't miss the change in his expression after hearing her question. He has suddenly turned serious. She could feel his discomfort at answering the question and decides to change the topic, just to make him comfortable. "Ahmm... it's okay, main to bus aise hi puch rahi thi. Anyways apse mujhey ek shikayat hai! Apki sudden absence ki wajah se main itni tension mein thi ki maine zada classes attend hi nahi..." "Naina!" he interrupts her. Naina halts as soon as she hears him taking her name. Looking at him, she waits for him to speak further, realizing that whatever he is about to say has to be important.
Looking deeply into her eyes, Rajveer brings out something from his pocket. Naina tries to figure out what he is about to reveal. Opening his fist in front of her, he reveals a small silver container. Unable to understand what it is, Naina looks at him quizzically. Pulling the little cap of the container, he reveals it's red content! Naina stares at it in surprise. Her eyes brim with tears. They keep staring each other, both getting emotional.
Placing her left hand on his hand, which is holding the container of the vermilion, she pleads, "Rajveer please... abhi-abhi iss rishte ko apnana shuru kia hai. Main itni jaldi ye cheez accept nahi kar sakti. Mujhey thoda waqt chahiye". "Kya farak parhta hai Naina? Humara rishta to wohi rahega, pehle sindoor ki jagah lipstick tha! Kuch bhi to nahi badla" "Rajveer aap..." Rajveer cuts her line in the middle, "'Main' ye chahta hun. Please!" he emphasizes on 'main'. Naina keeps staring him for sometime, with too much affection. Rajveer stares back at her, with equal affection. "Kyun?", she asks sweetly. "Nahi janta parivaar kisey kehte hain. Ab janna chahta hun!"
(Rajveer-Naina fast tune begins in the background, as they keep staring each other, both getting emotional).
Naina hugs him, taking him by surprise. Rajveer hugs her back tightly, as if his life depends on the hug. Slowly, he loses his hold on her so that she could resume to her prior position.
He gets up, taking her with him. They keep staring each other throughout this time. Taking a pinch of vermilion, Rajveer looks into Naina's eyes for the last time, assuring himself that she is ready for this. Naina's heartbeat quickens, but looking into his eyes, which reflects only love for her, and a promise that he would never leave her side, she gets confidence. Getting a sign from her that she is ready for this, he fills her maang with the sindoor. Naina closes her eyes as his fingers touch her maang. Her eyes start brimming with tears out of too much love for him.
