Entry 14
My beloved
Ch 1
Present (Oct, 2015)
In MG Jail
Guilt is indeed a strong emotion. It is a negative evaluation of the self, one that stems from recognition of a wrong doing, willingness for retribution and the ability to take, or submit to reparative action.
Lord Rishikesh Singh Raizada sat alone in the prison of MG Jail of Delhi. It was the death anniversary of his wife and younger son whom he lost while they were trying to flee from police. Loss of his whole family broke the person he was once and after a period of 18 yrs 11 months, he finally confessed to his crimes and his appeal for death sentence was agreed was his guilt started eating him to the point that he chose death over living a life of extreme pain and remorse. It was least he could do to repent for his sins.
"U have a visitor," the jail-guard informed him. Rishikesh looked over his shoulder to see his attendant Nakul standing outside the prison with a straight face.
"Nakul," Rishikesh whispered. He never thought that one day he would be so pleased to see his servant whom he never acknowledged in his whole sinful life.
"I will not take much of ur left-over time...Tomorrow is ur last day in this world...And it would be wrong to those poor souls whom u mercilessly killed if u spend this night in peace...So, I have a gift for u," Nakul spat out. He came closer to the prison and threw a wedding card and a long scarf of a bride wear towards him.
"Look at it and remember ur sins over and over again...And u dare to close ur eyes for sleeping ,u son of a bitch," Nakul spat out again and rushed out , leaving Rishikesh in shock. He looked at the direction Nakul went away as tears rolled down his cheeks.
"I never slept after that day, Nakul...My son Arnav and my daughter Khushi haunts me and only death will free me from my cursed life," Rishikesh whispered as his lips trembled.
In Raizada estate (in the garden area)
Nakul was sitting in front of the graves of his children. One of the graves read In memory of a loving son and friend Arnav Singh Raizada and the other one read In the memory of loving friend and daughter Khushi Singh Raizada'. He was lighting the whole area with candles, but he was not alone. Vicky and some other graduates of London University of Business and Management were present, who used to study with Arnav Singh Raizada during his stay in London. Lavanya, Khushi Singh Raizada's only friend was also present to support Nakul Kaka, as popularly called by Arnav & Khushi's friends.
"Today, justice has been served after a long wait of 10 yrs...The one who destroyed Arnav and Khushi will be hanged till death...But still, the truth remains the Lave...We are never going to see the beautiful smile of Khushi...We are never going to see Arnav, a fierce and loyal friend and an amazing person who stood for every right thing and encouraged us to be truthful and honest with one's own feelings," Nakul said in his last speech as tears streamed down the cheeks of everyone. Lavanya (Lav) couldn't stop herself anymore and broke down completely. Vicky, her boyfriend rushed towards her and rubbed her back in condolence.
Far away, two souls watched them over. They too seemed to be in pain seeing the pain of their loved ones.
"Arnav," one of the souls whispered near his ear.
"They are in so much pain, Khushi" Arnav whispered back painfully.
"It will be soon over," Khushi whispered back, assuring him with her usual soft smile.
"Do u remember our moments?" Arnav asked her, facing her beautiful face. He caressed her cheeks, earning a soft moan. Even after death, he had that effect on her.
"I never forgot, my beloved," Khushi whispered and then hugged him in firm embrace. They both got lost in their love story that started 28 yrs ago in KM and sadly ended in the Lave mansion.
Flashback of Arnav and Khushi's soul started
Past (28 yrs ago) (1987-2015)
The Raizada royal family was the oldest and most prestigious royal families in India. They were the richest and most powerful family among all. The owner of the Raizada Empire "Rishikesh Singh Raizada" was known for his brutal and stubborn nature. Lady Guman Singh Raizada was the 2nd wife of Lord Rishikesh Singh Raizada. He saw her in a party and instantly he decided to make her as his own. But there was one problem - she was married. So, he used all his power to break her marriage and then married her later. Lady Guman and her orphaned ex-husband Mohinder Handa , had a daughter together who was as fair as snow and her eyes were like deep ocean , full of mystery and puzzles. But Guman left her in care of her ex-husband and never cared to look back. When she married Rishikesh , he was already a father of 2 little boys "Arnav and Danny" from his 1st wife Lady Saraswati Singh Raizada , who died while giving birth to Danny. She was never a good mother. Infact , under her care , she spoiled Danny , but luckily Arnav was saved from her bad influence.
The heir Arnav Singh Raizada was the most eligible bachelor of the country and every family wanted to get hold of him in the hope of getting him as their son-in-law, but he was just not interested. Unlike other rich royals, he was very loving, caring, warm, selfless, kind, soft-spoken, highly cultured and disciplined, but at the Lave time he was very stubborn and introvert. On the other hand, Danny Singh Raizada was cunning, fun-loving, reckless, irresponsible, manipulative and very selfish. He was exact replica of his step-mother Lady Guman Singh Raizada. It was needless to say that both the brothers were extremely good-looking and probably they inherited good-looks and charm from their father Lord Rishikesh Singh Raizada.
Although Arnav had every riches of the world, still he was a complete loner. He was never given that love which he always longed from his parents. As he was the heir of the Raizada estate and expected to take over the entire business after Rishikesh, he was sent to London for completing his studies with other royals when he was 14 yrs old. He was always treated as Raizada heir rather than their son. This made him cold & distant.
Set against tall cedar trees, Raizada castle looked majestic. It was set in 1000 acres of land in Delhi. While it was said to have been build 900 yrs ago , the mansion in the premises where Arnav Singh Raizada spent most of his time , was build in the late 18thcentury.
In Raizada castle (study) (1987)
Rishikesh Singh Raizada was dealing with the affairs of his estate when a call disturbed him.
"Hello," Rishikesh answered after dismissing his staffs. He talked for a long 1 hour, sometimes arguing and then he gradually became silent.
"Whose call was that?" Guman asked him while entering with a servant, carrying their breakfast.
"Advocate of Mohinder Handa," Rishikesh replied twisting his lips.
"What does he want?" she asked in surprise.
"He is dead...His lawyer want to see me," he replied.
"And he has something to offer me," he said titling his head.
After Guman left her daughter Khushi Handa' with Mohinder Handa , he played the role of both Khushi's mother and father efficiently. They were happy in their small world. But their happiness was short-lived. A fire broke down in Mohinder's factory destroying every single thing. His house was also mortgaged to a money-lender for his business that completely ruined him. Gradually, it took a toll in his health and he died in a brain stroke. So, when 15 yrs old Khushi was waiting in front of her dead father, the advocate of Handa family called Rishikesh Singh Raizada. It was Mohinder's last wish that Rishikesh Singh Raizada adopt Khushi as there was no one who could look after his daughter other than Rishikesh Singh Raizada , his only closest relative. Initially, Rishikesh was reluctant, but later agreed as she was Guman's daughter. Soon within 2 days, Khushi Handa became Khushi Singh Raizada, the adopted daughter of Rishikesh Singh Raizada. He became her legal guardian.
June (1987)-June (1988)
(Khushi= 15 yrs old, Arnav=13 yrs old)
In Raizada castle (living room)
Arnav saw Khushi for the 1st time when he was 13 yrs old. He remembered how she stepped inside their castle all scared and nervous. Her nervous eyes travelled every corner of the hall as the servants carried her luggage in her new room. Then her doe shaped eyes met his intense gaze and the world stopped for them. He saw her top to bottom and his heart screamed Barbie doll'. His heart told him that the beautiful creation in front of him was sent to earth only for him.
"Who is she dad?" Arnav asked softly.
"Ur sister," his dad replied & went away leaving him in a whirlpool of emotions - confusion, shock and anger. He didn't know why he felt betrayed by his parents at that particular moment. It might be because he couldn't digest the fact that she was his sister, not by blood, but by law.
"How could dad bring someone to their home and expect him to accept her as his sister?" he thought angrily and hurriedly packed his school bag and then rushed out giving a last glare to her indicating her u are not welcomed'. She lowered her eyes as tears rolled down her cheeks in helplessness and pain. How much she wished that his dad would run back to her and take her in his lap, kissing her tears away. She stood their alone. No one cared whether she was hungry or she was tired or not. Getting no other choice, she started roaming in hope to find someone in that huge castle. Soon she found Nakul kaka, the head attendant of Raizada family, in the kitchen who led her to her new room and also arranged her clothes & made soup for her. She was touched by his love and care and instantly they clicked. From that day onwards, she became the daughter that Nakul Kaka never had.
After some months (in Khushi's room)
"Kaka...Why there is no temple in this castle?," Khushi asked Nakul who was serving her breakfast.
"No one prays here except young master Arnav," he replied calmly.
"Why?" she asked him in surprise.
"Because they think they are superior to Almighty," Nakul replied.
"But it is not good...God will surely punish them," she pouted. Nakul looked at her sharply.
"I am not sure that God will punish them or not...But sometimes the sins of parents affect their children's lives...Hope Arnav never has to suffer for his parents' sins," Nakul mumbled.
"Don't worry...I will pray to God not to punish Arnav," Khushi said. Nakul smiled at her and caressed her head with love.
"She is indeed a pure soul...God bless u, my child," Nakul mumbled and left her to have her breakfast. But she was not hungry. She was eager to see the idol in Arnav's room. She had heard earlier from Nakul Kaka that it was an idol of Lord Krishna, made of pure gold. The crown on its head was of diamond and rubies. She wanted to see that idol for once and also wanted to fold her hands in front of it and offer the sweet dish prepared by her. She asked one of the servants about Arnav and they informed her that he was in the training ground.
"Where is his room?" she asked again.
"My lady, he lives separately in his mansion on the other side of the garden. Her face lit up instantly and she decided to go to his room in his absence and offer her praying secretly before he comes back. She went out of the castle and reached his mansion. She stood in front of the huge wooden door in confusion whether it would be safe to step inside the lion's den or not.
"The way he always showed his big eyes to me ...Will it be safe to go inside?" she thought. But her strong urge to offer morning prayers to God made her push the huge door and step inside the mansion. She froze seeing the decorations. She had heard that everything in the mansion was according to Arnav's taste. He don't like interference of others and even the architects and the interior decorators work according to his wish and never dare to mention their advice.
Inside Arnav's mansion
She admired the costly red sofas in the library. The walls held over 10,000 books in different languages and subjects. Her eyes popped out seeing the costly gadgets arranged neatly on the huge table at the centre of the room. She closed the door of the library and let out a deep sigh. Then she again started exploring the mansion and found an intricately carved oak staircase at one side of the saloon that led her to the 11 bedrooms on the 1st floor. There were 50 bedrooms in the other two floors of the mansion, but only one was used. She peeked from a green door and saw a granite staircase that went down to the servant quarter. She turned and decided to find Arnav's room as soon as possible and leave for good.
Finally after a long 45 minutes of search, she found Arnav's lavish bedroom. It was huge, much bigger than her home. She observed each corner of his room with her shocked wide hazels. The furnitures of the room were priceless antique pieces, made of mahogany wood. There were smaller compartments for his trophies. The carpet was especially made under his strict guidance in the shape of a falcon- a symbol for freedom. The walls were covered in green French silk .The bed was so huge that at least 8 elephants could sleep there comfortably. The bedsheets were made of silk and she could bet that it was of best quality. She saw a small cozy garden in the balcony of the room. Then her eyes caught Arnav's training photos. She touched one of his close-up pic as her eyes feast upon his perfect features. Her finger travelled from his firm jaws to his sharp nose and then stopped near his eyes.
"Why is his eyes look so sad, Kanha?" she murmured. She couldn't understand that how someone blessed with such good fortunes could be sad.
She walked towards Arnav's cupboard and pushed the sliding door revealing his school uniforms, sports uniform, night dress, training costumes, party wears and many more of his outfits neatly hanged and some folded. Then she noticed another cupboard, beside the one she opened. She opened it too and became shocked to see only shoes.
"A shoe cabinet...that too so big," her eyes widened. There were at least 300 varieties of shoes and 150 varieties of sandals.
"He is weird...What's the need of so many shoes?" she pouted and closed the door. She turned her head to see an idol of Lord Krishna on the side table beside the king sized bed. She walked towards the idol and folded her hand whispering, "Kanha , I am really scared in this new place...They all are very weird and this place is sooo big that sometimes I lost my way to my room..."
"But I will be brave and try to adjust here as promised to Papa...He will be looking over me and I want to make him proud that his Gudiya is not a scared kitten , but a fighter," she sniffed as she wiped off her tears with the back of his hands. She heard some footsteps outside the bedroom.
"Papa, someone is coming , I need to go...But please take care in heaven and tell Kanha to send a friend to me...I don't want to be alone," she whispered and turned to leave , but stopped.
"Oh...I forgot...Nakul Kaka said something about God's punishment...Although I didn't get him , yet I want Arnav not to be punished...He is little arrogant , but Kaka says that he has a heart of gold...And if kaka says then it must be true," she said with confidence and immediately hid behind the curtains.
Arnav rushed inside his room and threw away his clothes and shoes in anger.
"What they think of themselves? I am a human...not a robot to train for 6 hrs continuously," Arnav screamed in anger and dropped his tired body on the bed carelessly. He closed his eyes as tears rolled down his cheeks. Sweat beads poured down his face as he took deep ragged breathes to calm his tensed nerves. He took a deep breath inhaling a lavender aroma in the air.
"Someone was here," he whispered as his lips stretched into a genuine smile. He sat up and felt something moving behind the curtains for a fraction of second. He walked towards it with slow steps and then in a swift movement pushed away the curtains revealing an embarrassed Khushi.
"What are u doing here?" Arnav asked her in amusement.
"I...I...came...to pray," she managed to say. Suddenly she felt intimidated in presence of his high persona. He caged her between his hands and said huskily, "U shouldn't have come here...No one is allowed to step inside my den...No one means not even my parents."She nodded her head vigorously and looked away feeling scared.
"Don't again come here...I will send an idol of Kanha to ur room," he whispered near her ear huskily, sending shivers down her spine. She didn't stop any longer and ran out of his mansion, promising herself never to go there in future.
The next 3 months passed in a blur. With time, Arnav realized that he was getting attracted to his step-sister Khushi. Although, they didn't share the Lave bloodline, yet he was in a fix as the relation they shared would never permit them to develop romantic feelings for each other. But, Fate was cruel and merciless. She had decided something else for those poor souls. More they tried to avoid each other's presence, more they were reminded of each other's existence. For instance, if lead opposite of Khushi in annual function drama became sick in the day of the show, then mam would have chosen Arnav to save their school's reputation by playing Khushi's love interest in the play. Again when Danny used to bully her and leave her crying, he used to scold Danny and punished him for his wrong deeds, earning respect in her eyes. Needless to say that gradually they became accustomed to each other and soon they learned about each other a lot. Nakul Kaka played a big part in reducing the awkwardness between them. He tried hard to make them friends. Initially, Arnav used to push her away when she tried to be friendly with him. But soon he became tired and accepted her friendship. With time, their friendship grew stronger and they became inseparable. They kept each other sane just by their presence in each other's lives. For Arnav, Khushi was a wonder girl. She had the ability to turn someone's life upside down. His life too changed when he realized that he had fallen head over heels with his adopted sister Khushi Singh Raizada' who was 2 yrs older than him.
July (1988)(Arnav= 14 yrs old , Khushi=16 yrs old)
Nakul Kaka entered Arnav's bedroom to find him curled into a ball inside the closet. His cheeks were wet due to constant crying & his hands were red with dried blood.
"What did u do to urself?" Nakul Kaka cried. He opened his fisted left hand & found a razor that was stuck to his palm. He gasped in fear.
"Did u just try to kill urself?" Nakul screamed in pain & anger. He removed the razor carefully & checked his wounds. He looked at Arnav's blank face painfully.
"What happened son?" Nakul asked him as he applied medicine to his wounds.
"Papa wants me to go to London for studying," Arnav whispered painfully. He didn't have to say anymore as his kaka understood that Arnav's sudden depression was due to the fear of living away from his best friend Khushi for 8 long years.
Khushi's reaction was scarier than Arnav. She locked herself in her room after a heated argument with Arnav. She begged him to stay, but Arnav was helpless and it resulted in confining herself back to her shell. She went on a hunger strike for days, but before leaving Arnav fed her with his own hands, promising her that he would keep in touch with her.
At the day of their departure, she ran in the terrace and saw him leaving for 8 long years. But in those 8 yrs, away from his Khushi, Arnav's love intensified more and more to the point of madness. But he didn't know that it was not only him, but also Khushi who realized her true feelings for her Arnav. Only the friendship of her new friend Lavanya who was originally a citizen of London, helped her to cope up with the painful separation, when Arnav was away from her , but for Arnav , only her memories and his hope to see her again was helping him to survive in abroad.
Ch 2
A leap
July (1996) (Arnav= 22 yrs old, Khushi=24 yrs old)
Arnav returned India and finally to his Khushi. He ran towards her and took her in his arms, kissing her tears away in front of the whole crowd in the airport. When they realized what they did, they separated immediately, blushing red.
"Sometimes I think, u guys can only see each other and everyone else just blurs away from ur vision," a voice alerted them. It was Arnav's younger brother, Danny Singh Raizada.
"Danny?" Arnav asked shocked.
"Hello brother," he tilted his head with a lopsided grin, but his eyes were fixed on Khushi who looked away feeling uncomfortable.
"Our sister has spent sleepless nights bro...She thinks that u are not taken proper care in London...Just make her understand that u were NOT ALONE...I bet girls took care of u," he winked while Arnav stared at Khushi who had a gloomy expression in her face.
"Something happened in my absence," Arnav thought in worry.
With passing days, Arnav understood that something was wrong between Khushi and Danny. Whenever, Danny was around, Khushi used to shrink back in fear or else made excuses to be around him. He tried to ask her the reason, but she used to dodge his questions. But it didn't affect their bond. Their love grew stronger, but at the Lave time it became next to impossible to hide their feelings not from each other, but also from others. Soon, it became a talk among high society parties. On the other side, Rishikesh Singh Raizada decided to throw a party in honour of introducing Arnav officially to the business world. As usual, he didn't ask Arnav and just ordered him to get ready for the grand party next month.
"Dad, is the party necessary...Can we not skip it?" Arnav asked his father. He never liked crowds and most importantly his dad's business parties where his every guests were money-minded and insensitive. Rishikesh narrowed his eyes on his son.
"Actually, I don't like parties...So, I was thinking..." Arnav said lowering his head.
"I don't like poor, dirty beggers in the street...But I don't have a choice...They will remain in the streets and die one day on the Lave streets...We don't like many things, but we have to do it anyway...This party is not just a celebration for announcing my heir to the world...It is a way of making powerful contacts, getting to know more rich and powerful people..." Rishikesh said, shutting Arnav's mouth.
August (1996)
In the party night (saloon of the castle)
The most awaited party which the Raizadas arranged for announcing Arnav as Raizada heir proved to be a disaster. As soon as Arnav left the party, making excuses, Danny went towards Khushi. She was on phone with Arnav.
"Arnav...Where did u go? See, I am bored," Khushi pouted her lips. Danny snatched the mobile from her hands and switched it off.
"What the hell?" Khushi fumed.
"U should sometimes give him a rest, Princess," Danny smirked at her.
"Don't call me princess...It is only Arnav's right," Khushi hissed in anger.
"Oookkkaaayyy," Danny held up his hands.
"Give me back my cell," Khushi hissed again. But Danny behaved as if he didn't hear her.
"Do u know ur closeness with bro is making tongues wag?" Danny asked, smirking at her.
"Tongues wag, anyway...U don't have to think about it," she gritted her teeth and ran upstairs leaving the party hall. But Danny was not in his senses. The alcohol intoxicated him to such an extent that he lost his mind. He followed Khushi to her room. When she stepped inside and turned to close the door, he pushed her hard and entered her room forcibly, closing the door behind him. Inside the closed walls, only Khushi's begging and screaming could be heard which didn't reach the saloon where party was being held.
In the mansion
Arnav was in his mansion. He was drinking continuously without a stop.
"Today , Khushi was looking like an angel...I was so close to losing my control in front of her...What if somebody noticed and read my feelings for her in my eyes? No...never...I can never taint her image...No one will dare to say anything against me, but she will be the easy target of this high society that will put her in a world of shame and misery," he thought and again drank. His last encounter with Lavanya, Arnav's ex-girlfriend in the initial years of his stay in London, was a constant reminder to him that people were noticing his closeness with Khushi.
Flashback in
Lavanya's mansion
"Khushi...Khushi, stop...," Lavanya, Khushi's best friend smiled at her.
"What are u doing? U are supposed to catch me," Khushi pouted.
"I can't run anymore," Lavanya panted heavily.
"C'mon...We have just started...Catch me...pleaseee...," Khushi blinked her eyelashes, making a puppy dog face. Lavanya shook her head and said, "I wonder how Arnav manages to bear ur tantrums...I mean he has anger issues, but for u he becomes a completely different person."
"It is because I am his Princess...Now, come and catch me," she giggled and turned only to collide with Arnav.
"Easy sugar...U will get hurt," Arnav said in concern, holding her waist to stop her from falling down.
"Oh Arnav...I am not a delicate doll that will get hurt just by running," Khushi pouted as she straightened herself.
"But for me, u are...So, be careful...please...for me," Arnav cupped her face. She nodded her head and then again started running, hoping that Lavanya would follow her.
"Sometimes I wonder who is elder - U or her?" Lavanya asked as she saw Khushi running towards the garden.
"She is just a bit childish...very nave and innocent," Arnav smiled as his eyes followed Khushi.
"Long time?" Lavanya asked Arnav, breaking his thoughts. Lavanya left London 2 yrs after Arnav's arrival in London for studying.
"Yes...8 yrs, away from home...Studying in London, preparing myself for the race in the business world," Arnav said sarcastically. Lavanya (Lav) felt bad for him. It was never his dream to be a businessman. He loved photography and wanted to be a fashion photographer, but his parents were like always deaf to his wishes and dreams.
After an awkward silence, Lavanya decided to ask him the question which always bugged her.
"When are u going to confess her?" she asked him, taking Arnav by surprise.
"What do u mean?" Arnav said, looking away.
"That u love her crazily," Lavanya walked towards him.
"U seem to be hallucinating...For God's sake, she is my sister," Arnav said scandalized and turned to leave before his eyes reveals his dark secret.
"She is not ur sister by blood...She is adopted...Think about ur happiness Arnav...Marriage can still happen" she said.
"I know u...U will spend ur whole life alone because it will be always her and no one else," Lavanya whispered after a short pause. Then she looked at him and said, "That's why u broke up with me in London as u didn't want to cheat me...isn't it Arnav?" He looked at her sharply and then looked away in remorse.
"I always wanted to see the girl who had that effect on u... Even after being far away from her, u never cheated her once...Our relationship was always platonic...So, when I came here, I met her and she readily accepted my friendship knowing that I was ur girlfriend...She never became upset or mad at me, not because she didn't have feelings for u, but because she trusts u a lot," Lav said with a smile.
"It doesn't matter whether she loves me or not...Our love is forbidden in the eyes of society...If dad comes to know about it , he would kill both of us... and Mom will direct all her hatred towards that innocent soul...I would rather die than watch her suffer... She is happy and so am I," Arnav whispered, looking at the sunset far away. But the pain was clearly visible in his eyes that saddened Lav.
"Moreover, she is older than me...and...," he paused and swallowed the lump in his throat, "and she is my sister...Society will never accept our relationship," he whispered painfully, trying to put up a brave face, but tears rolled down his cheeks. He let out a deep sigh, trying to garner his broken pieces.
Flashback out
Arnav's trance broke as he found his bottle empty. He stood up and decided to see Khushi once before calling it a night. But when Arnav reached Khushi's room in the castle and found his brother slapping an extremely scared and half-naked Khushi in order to keep her mouth shut, his inside went on fire. He immediately separated him from HIS KHUSHI and broke the hand of his brother which hurt her. Then he dragged him over like a chained animal in front of all the guests and handed him over to the police. He didn't bother to listen to his parents or rather their curses because he knew that he was doing the right thing. Khushi who was always obedient to the Raizada couple and loved them more than she loved herself and respected their wishes, no matter how much it pained her , disobeyed them. For the 1st time in her life she went against their orders and put Danny behind bars, only because Arnav was by her side giving her the strength she needed. But the next few months became hell for the whole Raizada family. It was a big scandal. Paparazzi never left them for a single moment. They had got juicy news that would sell like hot cakes in the Christmas evening. Khushi was affected the most. She stopped going to her part-time job and confined herself in the 4 walls of her room, turning into a cold and distant person, quite unlike her lively and energetic persona. So, Arnav too stopped going office and made sure that she remained in front of his eyes. He even shifted to the castle and lived next to her room.
Oct (1996)
In KM (Khushi's bedroom)
The blanket over her shoulder no longer provided her comfort. The walls of her room no longer provided her with the security she longed. Her world had stopped since the day Danny destroyed her and now she was nothing but a living corpse, waiting for her life to over so that finally she could find some solace in the lap of death. She stared at the ceiling oblivious to the sounds & voices around her.
A hand stroked her head. She knew this touch. It was her Arnav, only one in this whole world whose touch never made her flinch back.
"Khushi baby...C'mon...drink this soup...U will feel much better," Arnav whispered to her.
"Arnav...I feel nothing," Khushi whispered back. Arnav turned his face. His heart bled seeing her broken and without any hope to go on with her life. He bit his lower lip to stifle his sobs.
"No...I can't...I can't just break down easily in front of her...I have to assure her that there is still hope...Her life has just begun...and she will soon become the most beautiful girl with full of life that she used to be once," he thought.
"I wish I can feel the humiliation I faced...but nothing I feel...There is only sudden emptiness which is worst than anything else," she said coldly with her dead eyes fixed on the ceiling.
"Is Mom-Dad angry with me?" Khushi asked him. He looked at her sharply.
"Does she know that they think it's her fault?" he looked at her cautiously.
"Do they hate me?" she asked again.
"No, Khushi...Why will they?" he lied.
"Then why do they stop talking to me?" she asked again. Arnav looked away unable to look into her eyes everytime & lie on her face that they care about her...that they love her.'
"They are busy Khushi...U know Dad's business & Mom's social service just takes all their time and as soon as they reach home , their bodies give up...But they always make sure that I come to u and give my baby goodnight kiss," he smiled at her.
"U are lying," she thought sadly, but she didn't say it out loud. She knew that everything had changed after that fateful night. She decided not to let him know that she knew how much her parents hated her. It would be so unfair to his efforts to make her feel better.
"I am tired...can't sleep anymore...Will u sing for me?" she suddenly asked him. Arnav nodded his head & placed her head on his lap, singing a song of love & tragedy.
Nov (1996)
Arnav's bedroom
Arnav entered his room after patting Khushi to sleep. It was his daily routine. He dropped his body carelessly on the bed and closed his eyes as tears rolled down his cheeks.
"I WILL NEVER LEAVE U ALONE KHUSHI, BECAUSE I LOVE U...AND WILL ALWAYS BE WITH U NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS," Arnav promised himself. He thought about her whole night, clutching her photo frame to his chest and finally drifted to sleep out of mental exhaustion.
Arnav woke up next morning to wake up Khushi. He had decided to bring Khushi out of her depression and he knew what would help her.
"Pottery...Khushi's favorite hobby," Arnav grinned. She used to tell him that whenever she touches clay, she feels at peace and when she dedicates all her attention towards her creation, she feels all her frustration and pain to go away one by one and then when she holds her creation in her hands, a sense of accomplishment fulfils her.
Khushi's bedroom
Khushi was gazing outside her window. Sleep was far away from her eyes. Although, Arnav tried his best, but as soon as he left her, she began to miss his warmth and his musky smell which always intoxicated her senses and helped in dozing off. She spent whole night sitting alone on her bed. One part of her wished to go to him and sleep in his arms, but she stopped herself not wanting to raise question against their relationship. It was the Lave reason that always made her to ignore all her growing feelings towards him. Initially, it was very difficult for her not to reciprocate his feelings which were not unknown to her, but soon she mastered it and it was really ironic because she learnt all her tricks to hide her feelings from the one whom she loved the most in this world -her Arnav.
"Yes , I love u...And I know u are breaking down slowly by seeing me all broken and lost...I never meant to hurt u, but...," she thought helplessly. The trauma of that night never seemed to leave her.
"I am trying Arnav to get over it...And I will try my best, just for ur sake," she whispered to herself.
"Khushi," a voice called her so softly that even the source of the voice failed to hear it.She turned her head and was surprised to see him.
"Arnav...U here? Don't u have a flight to catch for London?" Khushi asked him coldly.
"Do u think I will leave u alone AGAIN?" Arnav smiled sadly at her.
"But it is an important deal Arnav...U will lose crores," Khushi asked him.
"I don't care...It will be better to lose some money that worth nothing to me than losing my only prized possession," Arnav said with determination. He remembered the time when he left her alone when his parents decided to send him London for studying.
Flashback start (Arnav=14 yrs old, Khushi= 16 yrs old)
"Nooo...Go away...I don't want you anymore," Khushi sobbed.
"Khushi...please listen to me. I am not going for ever...Just for 8 yrs...It will pass just like that," Arnav tried to convince her , but inside he was feeling suffocated at the thought of not able to see her for that long. He blinked his eyelashes to stop his tears.
"But...I have no one other than u...With whom I will share my secrets...with whom I will play video games...Who will save me from getting scolding from mom & dad? Who will wait for me late outside the classroom when I will get detention? Who will help me in my homework? Who will me my hero in school plays? Who will pamper me and call me princess?" Khushi sobbed again, clutching his shirt in her small fists.
"Khushi..." Arnav whispered painfully.
"I love it when u scold me...I love it when u tell me to take care of myself...I love it when u kiss me goodnight...I love it when u feed me during exams...I love it when u gaze at me until I fall asleep...I love everything u do for me...If u go away, I will never get these," she looked at him with tears.
"Oh Khushi!! Don't make it difficult for me...please," Arnav begged her. She looked at him accusingly and then pushed him so hard that his back hit the wall behind him, causing him to wince in pain.
"I hate u...I hate u Arnav," she cried and ran away, leaving him in remorse.
"I wish I could raise my voice against them," he whispered as a tear drop escaped his eyes.
He marched towards his parents, but froze seeing them. His throat went dry and his heartbeat increased. He stared at his palm which had turned sweaty out of nervousness.
"Dad," Arnav called him softly, gathering some courage.
"Yes," Rishikesh Singh Raizada replied without taking his eyes off his file.
"I don't want to go to London," Arnav said with his trembling voice.
"Go and tell Patil what u want to pack in ur luggage," Rishikesh said as if he didn't hear him. Arnav looked at him with tears streaming down his face and then he ran away as fast as he could from their sight. He understood that it was futile to request his dad. He would do what he wanted to do.
Within 2 days, Arnav was sent to London for studying. Before he stepped inside his car, he looked up and saw Khushi peeping from behind the pillar and gazing at him longingly. He looked away not able to see her bloodshot eyes due to excessive crying. On his way to the airport, only images of her pale face and pouted lips flashed before his eyes increasing his guilt tenfold.
"I am sorry," he whispered to himself, closing his eyes in pain and stepped inside the airport to leave for London for 8 yrs.
Flashback end
"I am not again willing to go through that hell," both of them wished silently.
There was an awkward silence between Arnav and Khushi.
"Come with me," Arnav broke the silence.
"Where?" Khushi asked him.
"U will see," Arnav smiled warmly at her & covered her eyes with a piece of cloth.
Ch 3A
In the basement of KM
Within 10 minutes, they reached at the basement of the house. He removed the piece of cloth from her eyes and asked her to open them slowly. Khushi opened her eyes to see that they were at the basement. It was dusted neatly and well-illuminated. She saw a bucket full of water, lots of high fire-clay and a potter's wheel at the centre of the room on a large table.
"Arnav, what's all this?" Khushi asked him in surprise.
"U said u don't feel anything...I want u to feel...I want u to feel how u used to be once...U always felt free when u used to make clay pots...I want to see that smile in ur lips whenever u finished creating something new and beautiful with ur own hands...Will u show me that smile, Khushi? Will u give me back, MY KHUSHI?" Arnav asked her in pain.
Khushi didn't say anything. She walked towards the table and tried her best to make something out of clay, however small it would be, because that small effort of her could make her Arnav happy.
18+ caution started( Bacha party can skip..)
Seeing her trembling and in the verge of crying, he let out a sigh of relief. After 6 months of that fateful day, he saw her feeling something. But he didn't want her to shatter and fall into darkness. So, he tried to divert her mind.
""Pottery is just the opposite of today's lifestyle," he said."It's a slow process that takes a lot of patience," he added.
He walked towards her & embraced her from behind, startling her.
"Close ur eyes, Khushi...Let ur hands be liberated from the censure of ur critically trained eyes," he said huskily near her ear. She stood like a blind woman, freeing her soul completely, dancing rhythmically with her Arnav.
He touched her hands and brushed along the length of it and started helping her in kneading the clay. He instructed her by whispering, "While u are kneading the clay lump , u need to apply thrust down from ur shoulders and knead it in a rocking motion with ur left foot forward...This way we are using our body weight assist in the process." He pressed his almost naked chest against her back and moved rhythmically, as his chin touched her shoulder.
"In pottery we have to trust the invisible gauges we carry with us...Without this feeling, we can never be a creator," he whispered again in her ear.
Song started
Khushi bit her lips to stifle her moans and embarrass herself in front of him as she felt tingling sensation in her neck. She turned her head & their noses brushed.
"Sorry," she whispered while he nodded his head. She found him too close, sensing goose bumps in every inch of her body. She observed how his pink M-shaped lips moves when he talks. Her lips curved into a smile when she observed his every feature - his beautiful hazel brown eyes, his sharp nose, his thin pink M-shaped lips, his delicate and masculine face, his dark black hair, his pearl white skin. He was wearing his favorite black shirt with 2 buttons left open from top, giving her open invitation. The black jeans and dark jacket just enhanced his persona. His hair was jelled back neatly, but some curls were kissing his forehead. Suddenly he said something, which made him to giggle, causing his eyes to crinkle. She was so lost in memorizing his every feature that she didn't hear a single word uttered by him, but still she smiled seeing her Arnav smiling so freely.

His closeness was affecting her and she could feel that she was losing her control.
Hulchul Hulchul Ho Gayi Teri Honth Hai Kyon Chup
Hulchul Hulchul Ho Gayi Teri Baithe Hain Gupchup
He looked at her lovingly and the moment their eyes met, they forgot everything. Time froze and love let them to open their hearts for each other.
Pyaare Pyaare Chehre Ne Karte Hain Ishaara
Dekha Teri Aankhon Ne Hai Sapna Koi Pyaara
Humse Gori Na Tu Sharma Kehde Humse Zara
Humse Gori Na Tu Sharma Kehde Humse Zara
"Arnav..." she whispered. He stared at her eyes and all Arnav could see was the Lave passion that his eyes reflected for her. His muddy hands travelled upwards along the length of her arms, sending shivers to every inch of her body.
Kehna Hi Kya Ye Nein Ek Anjaan Se Jo Mile
Chalne Lage Mohabbat Ke Jaise Ye Silsile
Arnav leaned down slowly and fused his mouth to hers into a slow, gentle kiss. A low moan escaped from the depths of her being. He left her lips, feeling her breathlessness. But he couldn't let her go. He sucked her earlobes, which were soft like a feather, making her gasp.
ArArnav Naye Aise Dil Mein Khile
Jinko Kabhi Main Na Jaanoon
Vo Humse Hum Unse Kabhi Na Mile
Kaise Mile Dil Na Jaanoon
She came out of his embrace and ran at the corner of the room. Her heart was running a marathon as she tried to calm her body. But her body betrayed her and only longed for his Arnav's touch. She touched her lips that were still wet due to the kiss. She turned and sighed deeply as she stared at him slowly and saw him looking at her with full of love. At that instant, she understood that they were finally naked to each other's feelings. No hide & seek could change the fact that transpired between them.
Ab Kya Karein Kya Naam Lein
Kaise Unhein Main Pukaroon
He washed his hands while his eyes never leaving her. Then he walked towards her slowly, making her step back until her back touched the wall.

Music...
He caged her in between his hands, staring intensely at her restless eyes. He had seen the love in her hazels and it was just as strong as his. There was no way he would allow her to go away from him. She was his...only his KHUSHI.
Khushi wriggled like a caged bird, but Arnav was stubborn and just looked at her with a naughty smile. She looked at him and they stared at each other without a blink.
Pehli Hi Nazar Mein Kuchh Hum Kuchh Tum
Ho Jaate Hain Yoon Gum
Neinon Se Barse Rimjhim Rimjhim
Humpe Pyaar Ka Saawan
Arnav leaned forward & gave feather kisses to her neck, shoulder blades and then he bit her collarbone playfully, earning a soft moan from her mouth. She looked at him with wide eyes and seeing the passion in his eyes, she blushed and lowered her eyes immediately.
Sharam Thodi Thodi Humko Aaye To Nazrein Jhuk Jaayein
Sitamb Thoda Thoda Humpe Shokh Hawaa Bhi Kar Jaayein
He placed his gentle hands on her both shoulders, pulling her closer to him.She pushed him back and tried to run away again , but Arnav held her dupatta and she turned immediately clutching it to her chest. She nodded her head no, but Arnav pulled her towards him with so much force that she crashed in his arms , hiding her face in the crook of his neck.
Aisi Chale Aanchal Uthay Dil Mein Ek Toofan Uthay
Hum To Lut Gaye Khade Hi Khade
"Princess...look at me...please," Arnav requested her, but she shook her head, saying that she would not, making him chuckle. He threw her dupatta (scarf) away from her body slowly, but still she didn't leave him and hid her face in the crook of his neck, clutching his biceps, without realizing that her nails were digging into his skin.
"Ur claws are getting very sharp, Princess" he teased, making her to gasp. She immediately removed her hands from his biceps and examined them. It was bruised due to her nails. She looked at him apologetically, but his eyes were fixed on her lips, which turned her cheeks crimson red.

He touched her lips, rubbing it with his thumb as she closed her eyes in pleasure. His hands travelled down from her lips to her chest.

He carried her in his arms as she stared at him without a blink.

He made her sit at the edge of the table in the room. Then he pushed all the things from the table, making space for her to lie down.
Arnav made her lie down on her back as he took off his shirt. Khushi opened her eyes and saw him looking at her, asking for her permission to love her. She smiled and then she forwarded her hands towards him.
In Honthon Na Arnavga Sargam Sargam
Tu Aur Tera Hi Pyaar Hai
Aaj Dhoondhe Hai Jisko Hardam Hardam

Arnav held her hand as if promising her that whatever comes their way, she will never have to face the world all alone.

Tujhko Kho Na De Darrta Hai Ye Aise Ye Aise
Aaj Mili Aisi Khushi Jhoom Uthi Duniya Ye Meri

He climbed on the table and hovered on her. He kissed her forehead, her eyes one by one, her nose and her cheeks, pinning her hands up, above her head. He brushed his lips with her softly, kissing them gently, savoring her every taste.
Kehna Hi Kya Ye Nein Ek Anjaan Se Jo Mile
Chalne Lage Mohabbat Ke Jaise Ye Silsile

Song ended
Arnav sucked her lips, pulling them with his teeth. Khushi too reciprocated his kisses, feeling overwhelmed. Then he darted his tongue into her mouth and met her in satiny swirls. He sucked her saliva, pressing his lips on her soft ones. When he found her panting heavily, he let her go.
"I love u," Arnav confessed at last after hiding his feelings for the past 9 yrs. She looked at him with happy tears streaming down her cheeks, as if she finally found peace.
"I love u too," she replied, pulling him closer.
He began to trail kisses down the column of her throat and long neck leaving several hickeys as he gently held her soft silky hair to pull her head back for more access & then his lips moved on her bulges above her breasts. He licked them, making her shudder a little. She threw her head back more, groaning feeling his hot lips, igniting every hidden desire in her. He undressed her completely followed by him. Then he again hovered on her kissing her lips again, but this time with more passion. His hands roved over her hips and her flat belly to the swelling curves of her breasts. He touched her nipples that were hard like pebbles. He rubbed them between his fingers and pinched them hard one by one, eliciting whimpers of joy. He ran the tip of his tongue along her chin to her neck and fastened his lips to her earlobe. She arched back and sighed deeply, indicating him her sensitive spot. He lingered there and kept on sucking her earlobes and rimming her ear with his tongue. He went down kissing her, along the length of her body & stopped near her bellybutton. He rolled over his tongue inside it, making her ticklish. She giggled feeling his lips in her sensitive parts, making him grin widely. Then he travelled up again and took her hard nipples in her mouth, sucking them hungrily. In response of his sweet torture , her knee rose between his legs, sliding up his inner thighs , causing his manhood to become as hard as iron. She giggled and continuously rubbed her knee over him. He groaned and looked at her hungrily, feeling completely turned on. To stop her from torturing him, he planted another hungry kiss on her wet mouth while his hands caressed and kneaded and molded her upper body as if she was a lump of clay and he was a master sculptor. She squirmed, wriggled and wrapped her leg around him and unwrapped them again as her hands roamed everywhere she could reach from his silky hair to his ass cheeks. Then he looked at her, seeking permission for the one that would unite them forever into a deep bond. Her one nod broke all his inhibitions. He glided his finger along her slit and found it dripping hot. She bit her lips to stifle a carnal outcry .He slowly inserted his one finger; immersing it in molten lava and felt her inner walls ripple. Soon his 4 fingers replaced his one finger and started stroking on and on, pumping again and again until her teeth sank on his shoulder. Then in a swift motion, he entered her deeper and faster, claiming her as HIS FOREVER. He kissed her tears away to reduce her pain. But soon the pain subsided, taking her to a different world of pleasure and love. Her uncontrollable moaning was like sweet melodies to his ears, urging him to increase his speed more and finally releasing inside her.
Arnav rested his forehead against hers, calming his erratic heartbeats. Their whole bodies were smeared with sweat. Her soaked hair fell forward, blocking the view of her beautiful face. He touched it and removed it from her face, making her open her half-closed tired eyes.
"How are u feeling?" Arnav asked in concern.
"Incredibly sexy," she giggled, making Arnav chuckle.
"Time for confession my beloved," Arnav smiled at her as Khushi nodded her head.
They dressed up quickly and then looked at each other's eyes as if they were ready for the consequences. He forwarded his hand towards her which she held firmly.
"Let's do it," Arnav said in determination while Khushi bit her lips in an unknown fear.

Ch 3 B
In the dining table of Raizada castle
Rishikesh Singh Raizada was reading newspaper while Guman Singh Raizada was sipping green tea , served by Nakul.Arnav and Khushi walked up to them holding each other's hands tightly.
"Dad...We need to talk," Arnav said, but this time his voice was firm. Khushi looked at him with her eyes showing admiration for her man.
No response came from any of them.Arnav sighed and then decided to drop the bomb on them.
"I love Khushi and want to marry her," Arnav said with Lave determination. The cup slipped from Guman Raizada's hands and Rishikesh Singh Raizada froze. Nakul Kaka closed his eyes. At last, the only thing he was dreading since his experienced eyes saw the love of Arnav & Khushi for each other, had happened and now it would bring only destruction for all of them.
They both looked at him in shock. Slowly the shocks on their faces were replaced by extreme anger. Every inch of their body shook in rage as their elder son's declaration sunk in.
"What nonsense is this?" Rishikesh thundered.
"This is the biggest truth of my life dad...I want Khushi in my life," Arnav said calmly.
"Forget her...I will get u any other girl...Just point ur finger on any girl, I will bring her at ur feet ...but not her...Damn, SHE IS UR SISTER," Rishikesh said through gritted teeth.
"I know u can get me any girl by the power of ur status and money...But there is one problem in that...No one will be MY KHUSHI...She is the only one in this world...And this Arnav Singh Raizada wants only HIS KHUSHI," Arnav again replied him calmly.
"Are u out of ur freaking mind?" Rishikesh yelled in extreme anger, making Khushi jump back in fear. Rishikesh walked towards Khushi and dragged her in the middle of the hall and pushed her on the floor.
"Look at her...Everything she is wearing from her salwar kameez to her earrings are given by us...His father was nothing but a small businessman...Even if he would have been alive , he would have never reached our level," Rishikesh said , looking at Khushi in disgust as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Yes...u are right...She is not in our level...and can never be..." Arnav said looking at his father. Rishikesh smiled at him feeling that he had succeeded in brainwashing his son, but the next set of words shocked him.
"She can never be like us because she is an angel with pure and nave heart...not like us," Arnav said firmly.
"And by the way this girl belonging to a small business family had once transferred u her ancestral property in Hoshiarpur , her only support , for ur dream project...She never thought twice because she is not like us...She is just Khushi, one and only," Arnav whispered and made Khushi to stand up and pulled her in his arms.
Rishikesh threw the chair away in anger knowing that it would be impossible for him to budge Arnav from his decision that would destroy all his reputation in the high society .They would mock him and their family status. He threw away all the plates and glasses in anger as Guman reached for Rishikesh to calm him down. She gave him a glass of water and then walked towards Arnav & Khushi.
"Son...U go now...I will make him understand...Don't worry," Guman convinced Arnav. His face lit up instantly getting his mother's assurance. He pecked Khushi's hands and then walked away from there with her, leaving the matter in his mother's hands.
In Arnav's bedroom (in KM)
Arnav & Khushi spent the whole day in each others' arms. They were like oblivious to their surroundings, dreaming about their happy future together.
Suddenly, a knock disturbed their beautiful moments.Arnav opened the door to find Lavanya rushing inside with a bag.She closed the door in a hurry.
"Lav...What are u doing here?" Arnav asked in surprise.
"Saving ur lives, idiots," she hissed. She kept the bag on the bed.
"I have kept all my jewelleries , a bridal wear , some cashes and 2 fake passports and visas with fake identities...From now onwards ur name will be Vikram Kapoor and Khushi's name will be Dipali Kapoor , ur wife...got it?" Lav said looking at both of them.
"Hey..Hey...Slow down Lav...We are not eloping like that...Mom has told us that she will make dad agree about our marriage...By the way , who called u?" Arnav asked in surprise.
"Me?" Nakul Kaka entered with their lunch.
"But why?" Khushi asked this time.
"Because I know them...They must be planning something big," he said in worry.
"No Kaka...It can't be...I know they are strict and money-minded, but they are still my parents...and will surely want us to be happy," Arnav said as Khushi nodded her head, agreeing to Arnav. Nakul Kaka and Lavanya (Lav) tried to make them understand but they didn't agree to run away. They were confident that they would agree.
In the evening,
Guman entered Arnav's room. They immediately separated seeing her. Guman smiled at them and nodded her head indicating their approval for marriage, making them the happiest persons in the world. She opened her arms to hug them and bless them for their new life. Soon, the preparations for the marriage started.
Next day (morning)
Khushi was choosing jewelleries for her marriage with her Arnav. It was like a dream come true. She had pinched herself several times to convince herself that it was finally happening and there she was sitting with her would be mother-in-law selecting jewelleries for her marriage.
"Time really flies by so quickly...It was like yesterday when u entered our mansion with Rishikesh and now u are going to be my daughter in true sense...Can't believe it," Guman wiped off her happy tears. Khushi kept her hand on hers and gave her a warm smile.
"U are perfect for my Arnav," she whispered, making Khushi blush. She looked at Arnav who was standing far away, talking to Lav about something. As their eyes met and locked, stillness came to them.
"I wish that time stops here and we can gaze at each other for eternity," she thought.
Khushi mouthed him, "I LOVE U." Arnav smiled at her and gave her a flying kiss, turning her pink cheeks crimson red. Guman cleared her throat interrupting their silent romance.
"Khushi, tomorrow we are going...U remember right?" Guman asked her.
"Yes, Mom...U don't worry," Khushi replied.
"But Mom...Don't u think Arnav should know?" Khushi asked her.
"We will tell him about it later...and I know u will convince him somehow as u have strange control over him," Guman replied.
The marriage day (morning)
In Arnav's bedroom
"Arnav...Can I have a word with u?" Rishikesh peeped inside his son's room.Arnav was trying his Sherwani when his father knocked on his door.
"Offcourse dad...U don't need to ask," Arnav said as Rishikesh walked in.He opened his mouth to say something, but then again hesitated.
"What's the matter, dad?" Arnav asked him in worry.
"Actually there is a problem in the construction site among the workers...I am busy in the preparations and Danny is not here...So , just thinking...Forget it...I will ask someone else," Rishikesh passed him a small smile and turned to leave.
"I will go dad...Don't worry...They respect me and only I can sort out their problems quickly," Arnav said with an assuring smile.
"Thank u Arnav...U are a life-saver," Rishikesh hugged him. They parted after some time. Rishikesh looked at him apologetically while Arnav waited for him to say something.
"Whatever I did that day was wrong...Can u forgive me son?" Rishikesh asked him.
"Don't apologize dad...I am ur son...U have every right to get angry...Infact , I am sorry for hiding my feelings for Khushi for such a long time...In a way , I cheated u," Arnav whispered. "And , thank u...Thank u for giving my life , my Khushi...Even if I give u my life , I can never repay u back for agreeing to this marriage and accepting her as the Raizada bahu," he said again after a brief pause.
"Don't thank me now...Thank me after u marry her," Rishikesh said to him with a smile.
In MG road
"Yes Lav, I am on my way home...Is Khushi there? Actually, Mom-Dad strictly forbidden me from meeting her before marriage and I need to give her grandmaa's mangalsutra that she wished to wear in our marriage...And...I ...c'mon...u know me...Will I have to explain it to u?" Arnav blushed. He stared at the mangalsutra that he collected after polishing it.
"Nope...U don't have to...But, the thing is that Guman aunty came and picked her up from our house...She was saying that they had to reach somewhere urgently," Lav replied him. Arnav's brows creased in worry. He was having a bad feeling about his Mom's visit to Lav's house.
"Khushi didn't say me about this...She never hides anything from me," he thought.
"Arnav...Arnav...Are u still there?" Lav asked him.
"Yeah...I am...Lav, I will call u later," Arnav said and disconnected the call. Although he tried to sound normal, yet his voice trembled in unknown fear. He dialed Khushi's number again and again, but it went unanswered. His hands began trembling in nervousness.
"Pick up the damn phone," Arnav said in frustration as his 25th call went unanswered. He parked his car in the garage and hopped out of it and started running inside.
Last part
In RM (living room)
"Nakul Kaka...Nakul Kaka...Is Khushi home?" Arnav asked in one go to a terrified Nakul. Arnav's eyes follow his kaka's eyes and he froze.
"Danny?" Arnav whispered in shock.
"Hello, brother," Danny smirked.
"What's happening here? Mom...Dad...What's all these? How is he out? He is supposed to be behind bars," Arnav asked in an unbelievable expression.
"C'mon brother...Is this a way to welcome ur little brother? I am highly disappointed," Danny said with a lopsided grin.
"Shut up!!" Arnav screamed at him as everything got puzzled inside his head. He stared at his parents who were sitting coolly on sofa.
"Mom...Where is my Khushi?" Arnav asked her. She looked at him sternly and said, "She is gone...She said that she doesn't want this marriage and has found someone richer than u...So, she doesn't need u anymore...U can move on with someone else as she has moved on with her boyfriend."
"U are lying...I don't believe a single word from u...Dad will tell me the truth," Arnav hissed in anger. He reached his dad and knelt down before him, begging him as tears rolled down his cheeks, "Where is my Khushi, dad?"
"Dead...And by now her dead body must be rotting somewhere," Rishikesh gritted out.
"No...She can't leave me...She can't break her promise...Hell, we are getting married today," Arnav shook his head again and again as he mumbled like a lunatic.
"Yes, she is dead...But before dying she did one thing right ...She took back her case or rather I would say that I show some of my fake motherly affection to her and convinced her for taking back her case against Danny," Guman smiled evilly.
"It was so easy to act all good in front of her and win her trust...She is a born dumb," Guman twisted her lips as everyone of them burst out in fits of laughter.
"So, it was a plan...this marriage preparations...just to win their trust?" Nakul asked in shock. But they didn't reply and just gave dirty smirks to him. Suddenly grief consumed Arnav completely. He stumbled to his knees, clutched the mangalsutra to his chest, fell back against the sofa as tears poured from his eyes in torrents that he didn't ask for and couldn't stop too.
"My Khushi must be scared somewhere...She must be waiting for her Arnav...I need to find her...Yes, I will find her," Arnav mumbled continuously. Nakul Kaka ran towards him to support his weak body, but he pushed him away and ran outside to search his Khushi.
On the road
"Where are u Khushi?"Arnav cried helplessly. He couldn't breathe out of extreme mental agony. For the past 3 days, he was searching Khushi on the streets.
"Please god, don't do this to me...U have snatched every possible happiness from both of us...but not this," Arnav shook his head. He ran everywhere like a lunatic. He asked every person he met and showed Khushi's photo in his mobile, but everyone seemed to be clueless. His heart was still in denial that Khushi is dead. Suddenly his mobile beeped. He immediately answered it seeing Nakul Kaka's name flashing on the screen.
"Kaka...I can't find my Khushi...She is playing hide and seek with me...How can she torment me in our marriage day?" Arnav sobbed like a child.
"U will see Kaka that when I will find her, I will never talk to her for doing this to me," Arnav hiccupped. Passers- by looked at him and thought him as a crazy person as his clothes were tattered and torn and his feet were naked, bleeding from several bruises , but he couldn't feel any physical pain. He was beyond of feeling any of those feelings at that moment.
"Beta, Khushi is at home," Nakul Kaka whispered as tears cascaded his eyes.
"I am coming back, Kaka," Arnav exclaimed happily and ran towards the mansion again.
In KM
"Kaka...Kaka...I am back," Arnav shouted as he rushed inside the empty living room of KM. Nakul Kaka ran towards him and hugged him tightly.
"Beta...Look at u...What have u done to urself?" Kaka gasped seeing his broken condition.
"I am fine...Please just take me to my Khushi," Arnav requested him, wiping off his tears with the back of his hands. Kaka looked at him and he knew that it was over for his Arnav too. He deserved to see her the last time and so he did, disclosing to him what he heard after Arnav left to search Khushi.
"They were discussing to keep her body in the basement before they get time to move it and dump it somewhere else," Kaka said as his throat clogged with emotions, seeing Arnav's haunted eyes, gazing at him.
"I am sorry...I was not at home when they all killed Khushi betiya," Kaka burst into tears. Arnav walked like a zombie and went towards the Lave basement where they confessed their loves for each other.
Nakul Kaka didn't stop him anymore. He called police and informed them about the crime that took place in KM. Infact , he had recorded their confessions secretly when they were celebrating their success.
After sometime, Rishikesh , Guman and Danny came downstairs.
"Is Arnav at home?" Guman asked Nakul who was sitting like a statue.
"Where is he?" Rishikesh asked him.
"To the basement," Nakul mumbled, still lost in the destruction of his children.
In the basement (end of Nov 1996)
When someone betrays a person's trust, he gets hurt. But when it comes from someone u love, someone u trust deeply, ur world seems to turn upside down. U seem not to believe ur own existence. Arnav never thought that his parents would cheat them like that. It was a common saying that parents can never be bad. They are like gods for their children. But is it true in these days?
Arnav just sat on the floor of the basement with the lifeless body of Khushi in his arms. Nothing seemed to matter him. He was dead without his Khushi. His lifeless eyes stared at her face. He remembered how he once held her petite form in his arms after their love-making. She was so warm, soft and her soft breathings were music to his ears, but now she was cold and stiff. He kept his ear on her heart, but it was dead silent. His blank eyes found something in her fist. He opened it and found a diamond ring which she bought for him with her savings. He smiled sadly and wore it in his fingers, kissing it numerous times as tears rolled down his cheeks. Then his trembling hands took out the mangalsutra from his pocket & made her wear it around her neck and then he picked up a long glass piece in his hand and slashed his wrist. He chanted 7 vows of marriage as he filled her partings with his blood, marrying her as he promised.
"Now u are mine in true sense , MY BELOVED...Not for 7 births , but for eternity...If there is Arnav , then there will be a Khushi for him...Arnav ki Khushi," Arnav smiled at her. Suddenly, he heard footsteps. The door flung open. Rishikesh, Guman and Danny stepped inside the dimly lit basement and immediately stopped seeing Arnav's unnatural smile.
"Arnav," Rishikesh gasped seeing him. The air smelled damp, heavy and stale.
"Kya iski koi jaroorat thi papa? Boliye na...Kya iski koi jaroorat thi?" Arnav asked him as tears rolled down his eyes. Rishikesh looked away feeling a sense of remorse. He didn't want Arnav's destruction. But it seemed that it was inevitable after they killed Khushi.
"I have learned a lesson - WHEN U FULLY TRUST A PERSON WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, IT GIVES U ONE OF THE TWO RESULTS- A PERSON FOR LIFETIME OR A LESSON FOR LIFETIME'," Arnav said as fresh tears cascaded in his eyes.
"And u gave me a lesson of lifetime - DON'T TRUST ANYONE BLINDLY'", Arnav smiled sadly.
"EVERY CHILD CARRIES HIS PARENT'S LEGACY...BUT U LEFT ME NOTHING , EXCEPT IMMENSE PAIN...AND I GUESS THAT'S THE LEGACY I WILL BE CARRYING TO MY GRAVE," Arnav gave him again a sad smile. Rishikesh lowered his head unable to meet his son's eyes. He then looked over their shoulders and found Danny looking at him with wide eyes.
"Danny...U came? I was waiting for u," Arnav said loudly.
"Look at u Arnav...Loving her destroyed u," Danny smirked. Arnav grinned as if he had caught him red-handed.
"Don't tell me, u never wanted her?" Arnav said with a lopsided grin. He looked at Arnav in confusion while Rishikesh and Guman stared at their son speechless.
"I know u wanted her...but she turned u down," Arnav tilted his head with a wide grin. Danny gulped hard and stole glances at his parents while his parents looked at him doubtfully.
"When I was in London, u proposed her, but she rejected u...When u tried to hold her hand, she slapped u...And I dare u to deny me?" Arnav whispered again as his lips stretched into a smile that sent shivers down their spines.
"I...It is not like that...I can explain," Danny stammered while his parents were shocked.
"U are such a fool...Don't u get it? It will be always me in her heart...I RULE HER HEART...AND IT WILL BE ALWAYS ME...NOT IN THIS LIFETIME...BUT ALSO IN EVERY LIFE...THERE IS NO PLACE OF ANYONE ELSE IN BETWEEN US," Arnav whispered again. His eyes had a strange gleam and confidence on his love.
"Don't u believe me?" Arnav asked him. Danny looked at his Mom and Dad who were standing there as if hypnotized.
"I will show u," Arnav gave them an unnatural smile. One look at him turn their blood ice-cold. He took one scattered glass piece and pierced Khushi's chest and entered his right hand inside, taking out something. Then he opened up his right hand and raised it in front of them.
"My beloved's heart," Arnav mumbled with a smile. Guman screamed in horror and fainted immediately while Rishikesh dropped on his knees, seeing the horrible sight in front of him. And Danny , just stood there as if all his life was sucked out. His eyes popped out seeing Arnav.
"Did u hear?" Arnav asked him. "My Khushi's heart is taking only my name...Come closer, listen to it," Arnav said holding out his hand towards Danny as blood dripped down the heart , staining his clothes and the floor. Danny stepped back immediately in fear. His face became pale as if all his blood was drained out.
"U are crazy," Danny whispered in horror. Arnav again gave that ghostly smile to him.
Arnav brought Khushi's heart near his lips and kissed it softly, mumbling, "I will soon come to u, my beloved."
Blood started dripping down his chin that coiled Danny's stomach in disgust and disbelief. He could not bear the sight anymore and vomited.
"Heaven or hell, no one can separate us," Arnav whispered with his blood-stained lips. He held his beloved's heart tightly in his right hand and his other hand held her in his arms with a firm grip.
Gradually his eyes drooped in extreme mental exhaustion and slowly his heart beat stopped due to extreme blood loss from his wound.
After sometime,
Arnav opened his eyes and found him in the basement. He felt no pain, no sadness and no fear as if he found peace at last. He looked in the front and saw him lying with Khushi's dead body in his arms. Nakul kaka was crying in front of him. There were police forces crowding that small place and his whole family was handcuffed.
"It's over," a voice called him from behind. Arnav turned his head and saw his Khushi standing there with her usual soft smile.
"Now it's just u and me," she whispered again.
"What about Kaka?" Arnav asked her.
"He will be fine...It will take time, but time heals every scar, be it physical or mental," Khushi whispered back at him.
"Are we ghosts?" Arnav asked her.
"No...We are free souls...Free from every earthly creation," she smiled again.
"So are we going to be together forever?" Arnav asked her with happy tears.
"Yes, we are, my beloved," Khushi said.
Flashback of Arnav & Khushi's soul ended
Arnav & Khushi broke the hug and looked into each other's eyes. Soon a bright light, stronger than the sun enveloped them taking them to Heaven. The two lonely souls finally found peace after their death as they didn't have to be conscious of what others would think of their love. For them their love was their god.
So was it the end of their love story? No...It had just begun...
