Chapter 18

Naina knocks the door of Rajveer's room. "Come in Cadet Singh" says Rajveer, without even bothering to look who it is at the door. Getting inside she says "aapko kaise pata chala ki main hun?" asks Naina, astonished. "Cadet Singh jab humein kisi ka intezaar hota hai na to unke aane ki aahat bhi hum pehchaan lete hain" says Rajveer, looking into a file. Then looking towards her, he smiles. They both keep staring at each other for sometime.

(Rajveer-Naina fast tune starts)

Smiling he continues "aap yahan? Kuch kaam tha kya?" "Ji Sir wo apne jo code crack karne ko dia tha, wo maine crack kar dia hai" says Naina. "Really? Dikhao" says Rajveer, creasing his brows. Taking the chit from her, Rajveer quickly unfolds it. But instead of the answer of the code, he finds 'I AM SORRY' written on it. Surprised by the words he creases his brows and says "Sorry? Kis baat ke liye?"Turning back Naina starts walking towards the door and says "Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha tha Sir ki mujhey aap par bharosa karna chahiye ya nahi. Maine apse rudely bhi behave kia. I am really sorry for that". Turning she looks into his eyes and says "Mujhey aap par pura bharosa hai Sir!" Taking a deep breath, "Hmm... maafi main apko ek shart pe dunga" "shart? Kaisi shart?" "Agar aap mujhey ye batayengi ki apka KMA join karne ka kya maksat tha?" As soon as she listens to his words, blood drains off her face.

Walking towards her and facing her he asks, "kya baat hai Cadet Singh aap chup kyu ho gayin?" "Kya...kya matlab mera maksat kya hai KMA join karne ka?" asks Naina, creasing her brows. Smiling a little Rajveer says "Cadet Singh har ek Cadet ka iss field ko chuney k peechey ek maksat hota hai. Mera bhi tha, jab main khud Cadet tha aur maine KMA join kia tha. I guess apka bhi hoga. Main bus apse itna puch raha hun ki apka kya maksat hai?" asking this Rajveer looks directly into her eyes."Ma-Baba chahte the ki main ek soldier banu" says Naina, her sight fixed to the floor. "Aur aap?" questions Rajveer. They both look into each other's eyes, then Rajveer continues, "Apka kya motive tha Cadet Singh?" Lowering her eyes she says "Main bhi yahi chahti thi Sir" "Hmm... Cadet Singh, apke room mein kayi novels hain. Shayad apko reading ka shok hai, am I right?" Amazed to discover that Captain Rajveer knows about her reading habit, Naina gives him a confused look, thinking what else does he know about her!

"Ji to?" "Arey main to bus puch raha tha Cadet. Aap ghabra kyun rahin hain?" smirks Rajveer. As Rajveer was about to ask further, someone knocks the door. Captain Rajveer walks towards the door and pulls it and finds an orderly standing with a parcel in his hand. "Yes!" "Sir ye Cadet Singh k liye parcel aya hai"As soon as Naina hears the line, she runs towards the orderly and grabs the gift from him "Thanks. A.. Sir wo friends ne bheja hoga. Aap doston ko to jante hi hain. Unhe kitni baar kaha tha ki KMA mein zada gifts na bheja karey, yahan ye sub zada allowed nahi. Par wo samajhte hi nahi" smiles Naina, nervously.

Rajveer looks towards the gift in her hand, then notices the tensed look in Naina's face, then smiles. He shifts his attention towards Naina again, avoiding the gift - she is holding, just to make her comfortable. "Anyways apko sirf books read karne ka hi shok hai ya likhne ka bhi?" "Matlab?" asks Naina, getting alert. "Nahi just apke nature se laga mujhe..." Naina interrupts him by saying "Apko mere nature ke bare mein kaise pata?" Naina asks with a hint of suspicion in her voice. Smiling he continues "ab itna to janne laga hi hun apko main Cadet Singh. Teacher hone k natey itna janna to banta hai mera. Nahi Cadet Naina A Singh?", smiles Captain Rajveer. "Acha kya jante hain, aap mere barey mein?" asks Naina, taking her seat comfortably on the couch.

(Fast Rajveer-Naina tune starts)

Rajveer folds his left leg, and makes himself comfortable on the couch. "Hmmm... Yahi ke aap ek bohot hi dedicated soldier banengi. Jiska dhyaan puri tarah apni lakshya ki taraf hoga", then checking his nails, out of sheer shyness, he whispers "aur kahin nahi". Naina grabs his tone and understands his unuttered words. Her cheeks turn red, out of shyness.
