"I don't give my number to guys."-Sharon POV-
I excitedly look up from my files that I have been alphabetizing to see my phone screen light up. My screen shows that I have gotten a message on Hangouts. My smile deepened. I knew who messaged. Oh, I knew very well.
There is only one person who messages on Hangouts. I smile to myself as I look down at the files. I have been waiting for his reply for past 45 minutes. I knew he was in class so he will probably reply late. However I didn't make any move to grab my phone though my fingers were itching to slide and see what he had said.
I smile cheerfully to myself as I continue to work alphabetize though suddenly, I had lost all my focused. He always make me work it, for his reply. He can also wait.. for like 2 minutes. 55.., 56..., 57..., 58..., 59..., 60.. "I give up" I say out loud to myself in the small file room, where I worked. As I was about to grab my phone from the desk, the door clicked unlock and it flew open.
Immediately, I pull my hand back as I smile at my colleague. She stands behind me looking for some student files. I waited for good 2 minutes but she still didn't leave. I mentally sighed and stand up carrying the stack of paper that needs to be given to Financial Aid Department.
Now I won't be able to check my phone for a while so I might as well do some work. Slipping my Galaxy s5 in my jean's back pocket, I walk out with a stack of paper. I was looking down so I don't let the papers fall as I slip out the second door which automatically closed behind me.
"Sharon!" I heard a man's voice call me. It was not him. I knew it as I recognize his voice. I look up to see.. Nolan!? He is the guy who I went to middle school and high school with but what is he doing here. He is going to school in California so what is he doing in Washington.
"Nolan?" I say confused as I look at the guy who I had a crush on and off in high school. Nope, I didn't tell him. I wouldn't dare. I was practically invisible to him. Anyhow, he doesn't matter anymore. I only liked him because he was smart and goodlooking. There was nothing more to him as I didn't even know him.
"Sharon? What are you doing here?" he ask as I feel his eyes go over me from top to bottom. I could feel him making calculations of what I looked in high school and now. It has been almost a year since we saw each other in high school graduation. I have changed a lot. I still didn't wear dresses but I wore better clothes and more fitting. I am wearing skinny tight lightly faded jeans and a navy blue and white flannel shirt unbottoned with a white tee inside and lastly my comfy Nike black and grey sneakers.

"Yeah. Me. I.. I work here," I said unsure as my eyes caught the short blonde hair and tall built guy on the left of him into his phone. My smile deepen just by looking at him immediately. "So it was true..." Nolan trails of whatever he was saying and turns to look at what I was looking at. He looks at him and than back at me. His eyebrows slightly raised. "We are just good friends," I say with a shrug trying to act indifferent but I knew as soon as I have said it that it was probably the worst thing I could say.
Nolan smirks, "Totally!" I roll my eyes at him. I can't believe I having my first ever conversation with this guy and he seems to be acting like he have known me since childhood. I walk away from him to Swayum or as I like to call him Yum. Normally people call him Sway in short but I don't want to call him what others call him. "Hey!!" I say with a big smile. He looks up at me and gives me his warm smile.
"Hey!" he greets back. "I'm sorry, dude. I couldn't reply to your message," I lower my voice as I add, " there were too many people in the room," I say with apologetic look. "It's cool. No worries," he said brushing it away but I could feel his gaze looking over my shoulder to somebody. I turn to see Nolan looking at us with amusement.
I mentally cussed my destiny for putting them both at the same time and same place with me. "Umm.. This is Yum.. I mean this is Swayum and Yum, this is Nolan. We went to high school together," I introduced them both as I mentally prayed that Swayum won't remember that I once told that I had a crush on somebody in high school and I stalked him on Fb. Now, I just can't recall if I told him his name or not. Me and my big mouth. *mentally face palm myself*
"Hi," Nolan say giving him his hand with cool look that says he knows something Yum doesn't. "Hey," Yum shook his hand giving him a level look and pull his hand back immediately. There was some tension about him. I don't get what though. As I was about to ponder about this and run a detail analyzes of this situation, Nolan called my name. I look up at him. "Yeah?" I say a little distracted as just that time the adviser came out calling for Swayum.
"Sharon, I am in town for a while. Can I have your number?.. Maybe you can show me around," he asked a little unsure as he smiles at me. Though I didn't turn to look at Swayum, I knew I could just feel it that his eyes were on me. "Nolan... I don't know much places here..." I started trying to say no in a better way. "Please," he said sweetly with a smile as he pulls his phone out and waits for me recite the number.
I smile as I recite. Just than I heard footsteps and I see that Swayum is going with the Adviser and he didn't even turn back to look at me. As I see him walk away, my own words remember in my ears: "The most courageous thing that I have ever done in my life is to give you my number. I don't give guys my number."
