You mean Establishing a Yahoo HR policy of forcing Yahoo's post partum female employees to return to work in two weeks" by setting an example by returning to work in two weeks after the twins

Is HER CHOICE?

I have been discussing on policy we should have regarding folks holding key position i guess there has to be flexibility and convenience of employee factored in as well if staff retention is a priority.

Email "tones" are very mysterious. 99% of the things we can "get away" with" in person in verbal communication, sound objectionable over email.

I am not mahaan, but when I try to word my emails I try to make it as non confrontational as possible

"I" as a detached observer did not see anything wrong with Bally's tone

But on the other hand, II's reaction seemed legitimate to me. She senses lrger trouble. Its not the email alone thats bothering her

When my Managers write emails to me with no subject like
NO greeting,
No pleasantries, it comes across as rude, abrupt and uncalled for.

No matter how grave an issue WE ALL HAVE TIME TO GREET
If we CHOOSE not greet, that can only mean ONE thing

We are PISSED

I so so agree with this. How one interprets an email depends totally on how the person receiving the email is feeling and it becomes more complicated when you know the sender personally and have a relationship them. If they don't send the kid of email you are used to receiving fromthem it can be interpreted as trouble.

And Hershey there are no issues with a husband calling and reporting a wife sick, but if the wife makes it a habit of ignoring her immediate boss, it sends a terrible message to your boss, especially the one who has just joined and is still trying to figure out ten interpersonal relationships that exist at work.

No greetings is rude..true that... N I would take offence than be scared... Ii did inform, whichever way it be... How sick am I is something the doctors decide not a manager, as long as they are "informed".. No company defines the sender of the intimation notice.. As long as the notice comes, its all legit. So Ri2 istotally wrong, II ki jageh main hoti, mera major maar ho jata n I would have included HR for such taanashahi n rude behavior, frankly.. Just coz am junior doesnt mean am your slave, maru toh bhi tumko pehle agrah patra likh kar maru! Kameeni Ri2😡
I would also like to add that after that france instance, II has had many opportunitites and II has towed the line! So this sickness cant be equated as regular behavior.

You cannot "casually shrug" off such arrogant symbolism influential women like Marissa display. I am not going to have any more kids (Phew!!)

She will end up screwing your maternity if you are complacent

Yahoo lobbyists will convince Washington "Maternity is a waste of productivity, costs the American corporations $38 billion a year" and get Congress to pass a legislation getting rid of the already shitty 6 weeks we get.

For her Yahoo's stock price is important and her golden parachute, a pregnant employee be damned

Jus sayin...

I agree with Nisha's point.. You have to inform boss at least a text msg when you are not keeping well..
In our firm an email wil be sent to all married women (off course you can't this email to un married women in India) every month asking if anyone are pregnant by a lady HR... It is not to dictate someone but our manament wants to create a proper backup plan...

Previously it has happened that two ladies working on same application got pregnant on the same time but didn't inform management until 4th month.. Both of them had complications and couldn't come after 5th month... The management suffered a lot with application being critical...

So II should have informed Bally n Ritu..

These are my two cents...

Recently my company increased maternity leave to 6months and next 6 months they can take unpsid leaves...

I fully agree with what you say especially since i go through every goddam mail that is sent to us from leave intimation for a 3 year old to real issues the direct face to fae is best but in the busy life we are faced to a mail within short distances has become a norm...
The guilt of not living up to her and her Appa's expectation...somewhere in her mental musings she thinks by becoming pregnant she has let down her APPA...come on yaar she has married a guy who longs to have atleast 3 of their babies,...her Akka had problems with a late pregnancy she is 29 she cant hope to postpone her raising family...it happened though she is happy it is tinged...i should say reeking in guilt

Anything anybody says or does II will see a problem in it she is in self pity denial mode for taking off from work.

She wants to come back to work in 2 weeks is her choice Nish...she is not asking all the women to come back...banning work from home is totally different...infact I have seen many ppl as to how they work from home...it is equal to taking a paid leave...it was literally misused by everyone...
