When she returned at 11 on Monday from Akka's
he was back on the phone in his office, he did not share the confrontation that occurred an hour ago with Ranjan
she changed, went down looked for Ranjan, he wasnt home, even Mahavir didnt know where he was, she checked at the gate
"Sir abhi gaye" the guard said
She wondered if she should text
She went up and texted husband "Do u know where Dad went?"
"No I dont, where were u?" he asked with a half smile
"At Akka's a leechi dinner" she sent a ROFL
"With who?" he asked gently
"With Shravu on the living room floor" she texted
He half smiled in return
"Vareya?' she asked
"Calls" he said
"That busy huh?" I havent checked email either since I was testing at Rohini etc but wont do it now😉" she said pointedly hoping he would come to bed, with no knowledge of how things had unfolded at home
"Great" he texted
"Are we weird, we text each other from 10 feet away" she asked
"Might be" he texted back with half a smile
"U type longer sentences over texts, so I prefer texting with u"
"I wud rather sext" he responded
"Like saying what?" she gently nudged him, as her heart raced
"If I were with u where would u want me to touch you?"☺️ he asked

She buckled, clamping a hand over her mouth...
"Over mountainous terrain?" she texted with shaking fingers
"Especially around peaks" he said☺️
She threw her phone down and lay in bed face down, groaning...her cheeks flaming
When she looked later, there was no texts from him she dragged both his pillows and
hugged em tight and dozed off at midnight, he was gone when she woke at 6
The bed was unused also, so he either slept on the couch or took a call all night.
"At Uttam Nagar" she texted him at 8 ish
He half smiled
Tuesday, when she received the text from Tan, she wasnt prepared for it
Amma's call about dinner...
She texted "Did u actually sell ur shares?" to R&B but never hit send
It felt like she was handed some terrible news. She was uninvolved and disconnected from Ranjan's work,
she had read about the company's profits and holdings and assets on annual report Sunday but that was it...
She couldnt run away... she wanted to though.
Where could she go?

He raised a motion to sell his shares, he had briefly chatted with Tan in the morning over coffee at the Perk
"I am hoping to sell my share" he said just out with it, upfront
"Kyon?" Tan asked trying to remain motionless
"We posted a terrible Q3" he said somberly
"and?"
"I am trying to do both jobs unsuccessfully" he bit out looking at Tan unhappily
"And the Q3 results came in at a convenient time?" Tan asked softly
They both drank quietly, R&B went for a refill...
"sam ko kaha?" Tan asked
"I didnt, not sure if he did" R&B shrugged
"Its only 10% R&B" tan began his influencing
"I know... Manny didnt want to sell I will go for a "hold" on those" he said
"He told me yesterday he was hoping to divvy up Ma's shares between the three of u" he said
R&B was expressionless
"U are unable to look at both separately. His business acumen has got to do nothing with how he was found in that hotel that evening" Tan whispered
"Oh! I agree fully, he has a shrewd mind and a knack to grow money" R&B said sincerely
"U do realize Chachu might go for it, dont u?" Tan reminded
"Hmmm... I still reserve the right to sell to him"
"Or not" R&B finished

Did something happen last night?" Tan asked curiously
"Nothing extraordinary" R&B gave him a clue
"then something ordinary?" Tan pressed
"KMPG seems to be installing a down graded version, and looks like dude's been sleeping behind the wheel (Ranjan) nobody has a clue" R&B said flatly
"His friend sold it to him yaar" Tan reminded him
"Ya sold it but didnt append or modify or redefine the terms" R&B said
"THATS why u are selling?" Tan asked
"No, he asked me upfront, "are u expressing inability to perform ur duties?" R&B quoted
Tan leaned back in shock... just sipped his scalding refill.. burning his tongue.
Tan had plenty to say to R&B, a million questions for Ranjan, and no answers for Sam
"Do u know how Sam will feel?" Tan asked
R&B looked ashamed briefly... his shoulders slumped
"The scandal will never go away, will it?" Tan asked
R&B just looked at him
"Through your Q3, ur detecting SW installation malpractice it will continue to rear its ugly head"
R&B listened mutely
"Did u bother to begin investigation?" Tan asked bitterly
R&B shook his head
"I dont know what to say" Tan said hugely disappointed
"At Uttam Nagar" his wife texted
followed by Mrs Sagar
"AGM Day 2 in 7 minutes"
