I'll start with the basics; how is it even possible to not-hate any of these characters? I know that I should be pro-Arnav, but I can't help but empathize with everyone else.
Arnav is not in the wrong, we know that, he knows that, hell, even khushi knows that on some level. But that doesn't make anything easier! This dirty world that he unfortunately belongs to, doesn't seem to care much about the humanity of everything...nothing seems to make Akash more human, or khushi's dadu less synthetic. They're all screwed, and I love this story for it! This seems like a story which could hardly get a "happy-ending", and that's fair and I am partially preparing myself for what stunt you might pull in the near future.
Khushi is another matter altogether. She is kind, smart and a natural heroine, clearly, someone who isn't just frivolous. Her reasons for being, or rather "acting" aloof to everything-Arnav, is both infuriating and a hundred percent understandable! Damn, isn't being loyal such a curse? Some people are just that...stubborn and too cautious of harming people they care about. She has to put Arnav at a distance because having been born to the family that she did, she is obligated to do so. It doesn't matter what she thinks of Arnav, she's expected to stay away for the sake of her family. That is not wrong! It is unfair to Arnav, yes, but in the long run, before matters go (for lack of a better word) apeshit regarding her and Arnav, it's just easier to not even think about it. Or so we make ourselves believe, ha!
Of course, we don't know exactly how much she cares for Arnav, but she seems to think that even then, she couldn't, and surely wouldn't stop pretending. I wish I knew what the right thing to do was, but because I honestly don't, I'm hoping that you enlighten me and all the other readers about it! We have faith in your judgement, so... master, show us the light lol.
On a completely different tangent, I'm willing to make this deduction that you - Madame gifted writer - are invariably a strictly loyal person. Whether it be Can't Let Go, or this very story, I don't see how anyone could've perceived the act-of-being-loyal so eloquently. I swear, when you write, it's like all the stars are aligning and everything is just right.
Can we always keep it like that, always right?
