Chapter 1
He picked up flowers from the same point everyday after work no matter how long the day had been and drove to the hospital. Whether it was evening rush hour or a little late In the night as it was today after a long day at the office nothing was too much trouble. His visits were so frequent that the staff and janitors knew of him as Mr Raizada and a few elderly patients by his name which they often forgot but remembered him as the handsome young gentleman who visited his wife daily with flowers. Pink and white flowers.
He walked into his wifes private hospital suite ..smiled at his sleeping beauty. Walking to the side table of her hospital bed he did the same as he had done yesterday and the day before that and the day before that.
He changed the old flowers for the new ones then observed her for a moment before kissing her on the forehead ever so gently, affectionately.
Like ever he heard the old ladies outside the hospital room mingle and talk about how lucky his wife was to have him but only Arnav Singh Raizada knew how lucky Khushi had been.
He looked upon his wife stroked away the strand hair that was disturbing her expression, he could hear her heart beating but she was lifeless and had been this way for months. Close to 6 months as he thought a little more about it and everyday was painstaking. Taking a seat on the stool beside the bed taking her hand into his he shared his day with her because apparently his voice, his presence was keeping her going.
He could have spent hours this way and had done in the past but things had changed over the last month few months which meant he couldn't possibly stay any longer he had another lady waiting for him at home. " I need to go sweetheart .. see you tomorrow." He whispered into her ear with regret but affection none the less which was followed by a stubble kiss on the cheek.
...
He walked into Shaantivaan looking a little disarrayed per the long day but ever ready to take the love of his life into his arms. She was the only thing that made all his troubles vanish in moments. As Kiran walked out.. Arnav's eyes lit up, the lines of fatigue on his face were gone, everything was easy. Well it seemed like that anyway.
She's all yours.. the young lady handed the bundle of joy over to her father.
Thank you Kiran.. I know its not in your job description but I..
"Its okay sir .. its my pleasure .."
Was it really he thought whilst he allowed little Aditi to sink into his chest and grab onto his shirt like she liked to do. He wondered if he was taking advantage of his position as Kirans boss. She was an intern at AR she needed to learn from his business skills not look after his daughter but she had mentioned needing the extra money herself and ASR needed the help. After all he couldn't leave Aditi on his own nor did he want to just have anyone look after her. He promised himself that he would not only pay the girl little extra on her next wage but also make sure she gets all the training she needs to successful in her career .
Aditi soon fell asleep on her father by the time ASR walked up to his room she was already comfortably asleep within the crux of his shoulder. His one year old was adorable. He was gentle and very careful as not to disturb her whilst shrugging off his shoes beside the recliner and collapsing on it without to much of jolt for his daughter. God was he tired.. he felt his feet ache as he closed his eyes for a moment holding aditi still where she was comfortable, the slightest of movement and she would open her eyes but both father and daughter were tired..
..Flashback
He saw her in the background as he walked in from work alongside Aakash. She approached them but saw her husband looked busy.. she let him be and approached Aakaash who seemed a little more relaxed.
"Aakaash woh .." before Khushi could get her words out her brother in law had worked out what was on her mind. It's been a long day bhabhi ...bhai's been on his feet all day at the construction site aur hamne khana kha liya hai so I think we'll give dinner a miss.
A little later at night as ASR lays on the recliner not having really moved from the time he had got home his fatigue was of the sort that he didn't want to be disturbed or bothered for that matter especially when he could feel another presence. He opened his eyes to see Khushi pressing legs apart from the fact that it helped ease the pain he didn't like anything about it, he wanted to be left alone. "Yey kya kar rahin ho Khushi... go to sleep !" he lay back on the recliner and could still feel her touch for a while even after he had told her to stop but he ignored it.
End of flashback
He opened his eyes with instance having realized he had drifted off into dreaming of the past. With a heavy sigh he looked around the room and at Aditi for comfort.
Reaching into his trouser pocket for his mobile phone Arnav dialed a number that was stored in his phone.
The same nurse picked up and greeted Arnav, I wont be a moment Mr Raizada, he heard the transition as the lady placed khushi's phone beside her in the hospital ..he could hear her heart beating for the few seconds the phone was against his ear after which he balanced his handset on his chest so she could hear his heartbeat.
As Arnav fell asleep with his daughter and Khushis presence and Khushi with there the nurse stood in the hospital saw Khushi's heart beat strengthen and the only time that ever happened was when she could feel his presence.
...
Mrs Raizada was conscious after close to 6 months one of the nurses had caught sight of movement in Khushi and alerted the doctors straight away.
As joyful as the news was the doctor couldn't get through to ASR.
A few hours and Khushi was fully awake sitting in bed and there was still successful contact made but Khushi wasn't alone. The old lady who was in the next room heard that Arnavs wife had regained consciousness and wanted to see how she was doing.
The old woman seemed to be of some Christian origin she spoke English that Khushi could just about make out from her expression and Khushi being herself answered in Hindi.
You're a lucky lady you know that .. He bought you flowers every day.. fresh flowers every day without fail. !Khushi stared at the old lady as sweet as she was she had no clue who she was.
"Aap ko shyaad koi galat faimi hue hai .. hamre pati..woh is taara ke insaan nahin hai." - You must be mistaken my husband isn't that sort of man.
