Part 36

She nodded. "Papa and Mama, Suryaban Sharma was my dad's brother. When... my family disappeared... him and Gayatri Sharma, his wife, adopted me."

Arms folded, she walked up to the big window and took a deep breath before she continued.

Kripa Sharma & Tanya Sharma were born to Aditiya & Natasha Sharma. The Sharma family was complete. They had a handsome 6 year old son and newborn twin daughters. They were the richest family in New Delhi. Life was great. What more could they want?

Things began to go downhill when the twins turned 6. There was recent news of killings and kidnappings among the rich, high class people in the neighborhood. Aditiya began to get threatening letters. He immediately hired more security around the house and guards for his children and wife.

But unfortunate day, he was held hostage and shot in his cabin at work. His wife who was dropping by with his lunch was the unfortunate witness of the scene. She had controlled her emotions and ran after the killer to unveil him. Once she was able to see his face, she was shot, the only other person to know the killer's identity.

Natasha's brother took responsibility of the children. His greedy wife wasn't fond of this decision, but eventually she figured that this was her chance to take over the Sharma's property that she envied. She only got to stay at the house though; the property's rightful owner now was Aditiya's brother Surya. Surya wasn't aware of the tragedy that had struck his brother's family.

The next tragedy to hit was the kidnapping and disappearance of Sahil Sharma, who'd been 12 at the time. He was searched for everywhere, but was never seen or heard of again. Natasha's brother decided it was time to inform Surya of everything. Surya was devastated to hear of what had happened and decided to immediately fly to New Delhi.

When he got there, he was too late. Natasha's brother & wife, along with Tanya, had been shot down. No one in the neighborhood had heard anything, and no one ever found out who killed the family and why. While searching the house, Surya found a little girl sobbing under the bed. He picked up Kripa Sharma in his arms, and wiping her tears, vowed to diminish all memories of her painful past from her mind and to never let her know that she's an orphan. He adopted her, and selling his brother's property, moved with Kripa and his wife Gayatri to America.

Kripa had found out about this whole deal when she was 15. She'd read Aditiya's concerned letters towards Surya which had been delivered very late. She'd questioned Gayatri and Surya and they had spilled the beans, knowing Kripa was mature enough to accept the information. She was completely shattered, but kept it all inside and still treated Gayatri and Surya the same, even if they weren't her biological parents, they never had made her felt that way. All the money that Aditiya had left behind was Kripa's when she turned 18, since she was the only remaining person of the family and Sahil was assumed dead.

When Kripa turned 17, she did more and more research on her parents and her curiosity lead her to meet a UIS agent. The agent uncovered the files for her parents' death, since it was part of a chain of killings targeted at rich families. With her dad's letter and some leftover evidence, Kripa was able to provide useful information to the agent. Time flew by and she'd become a minor agent. Her skills were perfect for the field, and she'd been given assignments besides her parent's case that weren't so dangerous.

Surya and Gayatri were the only ones aware of this. They were worried for her, but knew that this was something she wanted to do. By joining the UIS, she was able to pick at her past, find her parent's murderer, and have him pay for everything he'd done. When Kripa set her mind to something, she had to have it done- she wouldn't be at peace unless she sought her family's killer and punished him.

The true reason for why they'd moved to Chicagowas that Kripa was monitoring the areas around the Khanna residence. It was a possible target for an attack by a Midwestserial killer. The guy had been killing around for 3 months and still hadn't been caught. It was causing great frustration, and Kripa was their best shot at it. She worked under the alias of Sonali Kapoor at the UIS, and so no one knew that she was both Sonali and Kripa. She lead a normal high school life, while doing her spy work at the same time.

A few days before her disappearance, she'd received news that her brother had been found. A joyful Kripa had decided to look for him immediately. She began to get notes of threat at the same time, that her brother's life was in danger, and every step of his was being watched. No one was home that night, and Kripa packed her bags and left out of impulse.

She reached Switzerland, where she met her fellow agent, Eddie, who proved to be a wonderful friend that helped her out the whole time. She was in touch with her parents for a few days until she moved to Londonand realized her calls were being tapped. By now, she'd begun to get threats about her family's safety in Chicago. An agent working as a maid was sent to her house, security was tightened. Unfortunately, her parents were killed off in what was claimed to be just an "accident". Kripa wasn't aware of this until she went back to Chicagofour years later.

Kripa returned to Chicagoafter she found no trace of her brother in London. She'd opened up the boutique and bought an apartment in London, so she wouldn't get suspected if she was being tracked. After four years, she missed her family too much, and had finally decided it was time to accept that her brother had been killed. She'd tried everything, and finally figured that it was false notice and that someone was after her life as well.

Kripa got out of flashback mode and turned to Angad who was staring at her with a solemn expression. He walked to her and gave her a much-needed hug as she sobbed silently. She calmed down after a few minutes and asked, "What about you Angad? Why did you lie to me about being a surgeon?"

Why Angad lied about being a neurosurgeon? Because he was working as a private investigator and found out that someone was after Kripa's life. He was never able to figure out why until now, and wasn't able to figure out her exact location. All he knew was that she was safe, because his sources wouldn't provide any more information. When she came back, his profession never came up until the whole Aryan deal. Aryan had been treated by the girl that was actually responsible for the accident. He'd fallen for her, knowing that she almost killed him. He knew Kripa would never approve of her because of all the suffering she went through, and he respected his sister a lot. The girl was speeding because she'd escaped a rapist, and had accidentally hit Aryan. Aryan started dating her after he was fully cured. Angad was just helping Aryan.

Why did Kripa disappear for the second time? She felt guilty because her loved ones life was in danger when they were around her. After the incident with the guy at the park, she had realized that she was being very selfish. She didn't want Angad getting hurt instead of her. She'd left him and suffered. But knew he'd be safe. Aryan was cured, her sister was engaged, they would be fined without her. And Angad? Angad would eventually move on and live a safer life. That's what she'd thought. But never realized how much Angad loved her. He had waited for her, tracked her down.

After their conversation, Angad convinced Kripa to come back. After a few days she finally moved back for good. Both A-K were able to track down the killer through a life-threatening experience. Kripa had the pleasure of shooting him with her own hands, after making him suffer for hours. Everything was back to normal.

The day before their marriage, Angad gave Kripa the biggest surprise. He'd tracked down her brother. It was the most touching and emotional moment for both of them. Who was her brother? Neha's boyfriend's adopted brother. Neha's boyfriend was simply trying to find his brother's real family and he'd come across Kripa Sharma. Kripa Sharma & Angad Khanna were in love, and he'd had to find a way to get close to them so he can figure out if Kripa was really Sahil's sister.

~A new beginning, and the end at the same time~

I have a cute epilogue planned. Might post it this week, might not post it at all. Watch out for my ending comments, I have a lot to say =p
