I'm absolutely loving the story, this is a refreshing read with depth to every character not just Arshi. I just love how you are alternating between past and present while slowly peeling the folds away to reveal the characters' characterstics..although I would say the past is more intriguing.

Payal took La's place (from the show I mean) and that makes this story refreshingly different. She has it all for now and whether she cares or will let it go easily remains to be seen.

Along with your updates, I'm also enjoying the discussion amongst your readers, one of them I know personally (I can say that na Semanti? :) ) and is a writer herself.

Waiting for "Notes fron the Past 4" 😃

Cheers
Kavi

(ps: what's your name btw?)

Of course, Kavi! 😆

Started reading the story today and I truly appreciate your writing ..
The fact that the near future of the story has still not out in open makes it all the more mysterious than it already is at this moment.
The past and the present is well twined and has led to increased attention as to what is going to happen next...
The name too is one that holds interest and one that has not been for other stories so far..
Totally into the story !
Keep Going..

Hello YellowBoots🤗First off, I just want to thank you for starting this great story - it's truly a refreshing concept and a pleasure to read. It's such a good read that I've been having the hardest time trying to write a coherent comment, but here goes!

This story has every component that is needed to make a compelling story - a good storyline, interesting characters, drama, humor, sarcasm and everything in between. But the thing that stands out to me the most in the way in which you have created/developed these characters. Each one is so unique, and has traits that makes me cringe but also admire. For example, I don't like the superiority complex of both Payal and Poonam, but at the same time, I appreciate the fact that they are so confident and unapologetic about themselves. I can seriously go on and on about all the different characters and how lovely you have characterized all of them, all the way from Khushi and Arnav down to Aman, Anjali, and Arjun (who I'm getting more curious about).

I love the way you bringing about the different social classes are perceived. Even at the young age of fifteen, all the new-ons were class-conscious. Unfortunately some of them did not change their viewpoints.

The way you have detailed the treatment Khushi has received from the new-ons literally gave me the chills, especially when it came to her classmates accusing her of being responsible for Aman's suicide attempt. It was such a sensitive topic and you handled it so well. Although what the kids did was despicable, were they mature enough at fifteen to understand the repercussions it would have on Khushi? I have a feeling none of them cared too much. However, the harm was done and I'm sure for Khushi, she will never forget how horrible she must have felt during that time.

The notes from the past are just as interesting as what's going on in present time. But I have so many questions of both periods of time and I can't wait to find out! For example, what worse thing could Arnav have told Khushi than blaming her for Aman's suicide attempt during their college years that he's still ashamed for? Who is the kid that is calling Khushi Bua? Why did the Tewari leave his shop to Garima? Could it be connected to Shyam somehow? What is the relationship between Akash and Khushi? What is the reason for the rift between Lavanya and Khushi? Who is Lavanya marrying? What is Aman up to? Are Aman and Arnav still friends? Why is Khushi still going to college? Why is she working at the Tewari shop? Who is the girl that came to meet her at the shop? LOL my mind is buzzing with multiple scenarios when it comes to all these questions and more😆 What can I do, this story is just so good that I'm looking forward to it more and more as the days pass!!!

Sorry for the long drawn-out comment - I'm just really excited about this story😃

Thank you YB, for writing and sharing this story which spans class conscious India.

Thank you Disha and Anarocksick for recommending this story.

I probably should thank my own stars ... coz I followed up on my plan to read this gem of a tale, otherwise, it would have been my loss totally.

What amazing characters you have created. Real. Very real.

Arnav, the rich boy with a golden heart. His up bringing makes him perceive life a certain way but he isn't one to consciously turn his nose up on the less privileged unlike Payal, the confident queen bee who thinks she is better than the rest because of her wealth. Sadly, she believes money gives her the right to think she is the best and so rules the world and the people in it. Having had the opportunity to have met few like that, I think she may go through the rest of her believing the same. Good or bad, its the reality of life.

At the outset I wondered whether the difference between Arnav and Payal in the way they view people like Khushi or others of her class is due to the gender difference. Because NK is closer in his point of view to Arnav than Payal ... but then I remembered Anjali, Another girl/woman who knows there's more to life than money and class that money buys.

Coming to Khushi ... What an interesting character you have created! Hats off to you writer. A girl who holds her own amidst the bold and beautiful. But you know what? There is something so earthy and genuine about the middle class girl that rich boys can't help but be drawn to them... Arnav's attraction to Khushi speaks of that.

Delhi - Delhi is such a big part of this story that I can't help but sigh, smile, smell and drool. Most of all the nostalgia it generates in me makes me sad and happy at the same time.

Bring it on... I for one cannot wait to read more.

Cheers
