I enjoyed reading this chapter so much that I might just end up quoting the whole chapter.
Their little tiffs are like those of a married couple already :)
I love how Khushi conveys that irrespective of their current and future fights...she will never want any walls between them...physical or metaphorical. Truly the foundation of a strong, long lasting relationship.
"I stop in my tracks, and then turn around. As my gaze meets his, my heart squeezes painfully looking into his sad brown eyes. But I stand firm, not giving so quickly. I need to make sure he understands this cannot happen again"...Yes, Khushi...you go girl...it's never a good idea to give in too quickly...heart melting brown, black or blue eyes notwithstanding..!!
Ah...the making up part is the best...and tears never be far behind..at the start of it...I loved how you wrote this part...Brought out their closeness really really well. They'll come a long way in their relationship already ...and without even 'doing it' once :) And I love it this way..
"Yes sweetheart... sex, can make that headache go away... that's what it says. So..". Nice try, Mr. Raizada..lol.
Loved how you vividly you described their trip to Long Island. And that beach house sounds awesome.
And your Khushi is adorable..She has just the right amount of shyness her..,not too little ..not too much just right...:) So much more realistic than out and out brazenness...lol, which does not sit well with me as far as Khushis are concerned..!
Ah..you wrote Khushi's realization and confession so realistically...,Such a natural progression of thoughts.
Loved these lines to bits...
"Would I be considered selfish to want this forever with him?
No, I wouldn't be.
I deserve his love that he showers upon me, and he deserves mine in return.
Hasn't the distance the past week, taught me that I need this man in my life?
What he means to me?
When he is not around, I feel empty.
My heart aches for him for his presence when he is not around or to see him in pain.
Everything about him, what he makes me feel, is all that I have wanted, and more. To be loved the way I am with my strengthens and weaknesses.
Doesn't this all mean one thing?

Take a bow, my dear, for portraying the various dynamics so so realistically...
Every single sentence was so real and relatable..
The understanding father who's quietly proud of her daughter's academic achievements.
The more vocal mother who is anxious how her grown up daughter will cope in a strange land...by herself.
The concern that with her becoming too qualified, suitable boys and their families will shy away from proposing to her.
Finding a suitable match before she flies away to a distant land for future studies...
And a daughter trusting her parents' choice, going along with it and sensibly trying her best to make it work...this happens all the time in desi communities! Many smart, educated, intelligent girls do it and I believe if that's what they decide to do there is nothing wrong with it. It's their choice and their business!
Had Sameer been a decent guy, there was a real chance of this arrangement working...like it does for many girls..the world over...esp in desi communities. I believe that for many girls and boys, this is how they were destined to find their soul mates...
But Sameer was a jerk..of the highest order...and it was just not meant to be..!
Unfortunately men like Sameer are a dime a dozen and enough to shake your faith in men and humanity in general !
No wonder poor Khushi was initially reluctant to enter into a relationship with Arnav..
The way Arnav restored that faith is so damn romantic...love it !!
Loving this story and loving the author even more...Hugs..
