"But Mom I'll be 20 next month. On your 20th birthday you were married and pregnant too." She said.
"Don't make me remember that horrible past." Her mom replied.
"You can't do this to me mom plz" she looked at her Naani for help but she looked away concentrating on her toast. "But mom on Christmas Eve we do get late." This habit of retorting back angered her mom more. "So Khushi were uh in a church till 3a.m? Nothing doing and for 2 weeks be back by 9pm"
"That's so unfair mom. This week its Naina's engagement" Khushi said.
"Ya for that she needs to go out" her Naani supported.
"And then New Year's" She said asked permission for another event. "That's only once in a Year Garima" her Nani supported again. Garima kept on reading a case file listening to her daughter's blabber.
"And on 10th it's my birthday and to book DJ I have to go right?" she said.
"Right with delicious food, loud music and..." Naani joined hands with her.
Garima kept the file down glaring at her mother and daughter. "Two weeks 9pm" Khushi let out her breath. "Why for two weeks? I'll never step out of the house but for that you have to agree with my one condition. I need a birthday gift... I want my dad."
Garima was blown by her condition. "Mom plz call him here."
"Shashi Gupta is nothing to us." Garima said with an expressionless face. "Come on mom he is my father. It's been 8 years now since you kept me away from him. This birthday I want him to be here with me like a family." She said.
"Khushi, did you forgot about what happened in past?"
"Here we go again he's rude he's selfish" Khushi said. Her Naani tried to calm her down but she walked to the table and took her bag along. "I miss him" she said and left driving her car in speed. "Khushi" her Naani called out.
"It's okay Maa. Let her go when her mind would calm down she'll be back." Garima said.
At 11:49pm
"Yes, Mallika I had gone to Naina's place but she wasn't there too. I haven't called everyone she isn't in contact of anyone. What kind of stubbornness is this? Listen if she calls so inform me" Smiriti talked on her phone while climbing up the stairs of her the entrance door.
"I tried with my phone too but still it's unavailable. Now we must inform the police about her being missing." Naani informed Garima. There was a ring on Garima's phone.
It was Khushi's number. "Khushi, just come home right now" Garima said.
"She can't come home..." An unknown voice replied from her Khushi's phone.
"For two weeks no late nights. Is that clear Kria?" Her mom, Smriti kept the glass of juice on the table in anger. It was her punishment for being late at home for Christmas Eve but Kria very well knew how to retort back when it came to her liberty. "You got to be joking mom huh! I'm not a kid anymore" she got up from the dining table.
