Chapter 1

The rain poured heavily accompanied by thunderstorms. It was obvious to have such a weather in the month of July, but that day it seemed that the nature was pouring rain corresponding to someone's endless tears. The more tears she shed, the more heavier the rain got.

She was back after twelve years..to her city. Twelve complete years of her life. Twelve years which she had spent, waiting for her fate to take her back to her love. She had cried.. for the person she loved like anything. Just because she was being hated.. for something she didn't do deliberately. Why was destiny playing such games with her? - This question had no answer.

Khushi Kumari Gupta. That's her name. But that name no longer held its meaning for her. She got reminded how she used to keep everyone happy by her chirping, but now there was nothing left.

She stood up from the bed, in her rented apartment. Walking towards the window, she opened it wide, revealing the bad weather to herself. She inhaled deeply, as the cool air fanned her face. "Arnav" she whispered, as her lips curved into a faint smile and her throat felt heavy again.

Delhi. She had spent just six years of her life in this city till now. But they were the best years of her life. She had her parents with her. She had her Arnav with her. She was loved. She was happy. But now everything has changed. Every single thing. Neither she had her parents with her.. nor she had her Arnav. Neither she was being loved.. nor was she happy.

She closed her eyes tightly, allowing a gush of tears to flow down her eyes.

"Khushiii. Yeh dekh main tere liye kya laaya hoon" (Khushiii. See what I've brought for you) a little 7-year old Arnav said in his childish voice, handing a small packet to his best buddy, Khushi.

"Kya laaye ho?" (What have you brought?) she asked him, curiously taking the packet from him.

"Imli!" she screamed with immense joy.

"Haan. Tere liye laaya hoon. Tujhe pasand hai na?" (Yes. I've brought it for you. You like it na?) he said, rubbing her chubby cheeks with his little fingers.

How she loved his care. Any one would! They shared a great bond with each other. But those days were gone. Even before she could capture those moments.. those days were gone. Forever.

*

Two men walked in black tuxedos, talking professionally about the delegates who were arriving India from Canada. One of them was Arnav Singh Raizada, owner of one the greatest Fashion Houses of India - AR; while the other was his personal assistant, Aman.

Two of them walked to the conference room where the meeting was to be held.

*

Khushi looked at the huge building before her, and re-checked the address on a small paper slip which she held.

AR Fashion House, Delhi.

She felt a slight feeling of familiarity as she saw the address, as if someone familiar owned it. She deeply sighed and went inside to the reception.

"I'm Khushi Kumari Gupta" Khushi spoke to the receptionist, "I've been sent by Mr. Amit Mehta to Delhi for applying for a job as Designer in AR. Am I at the right place?"

"Yes you are, ma'am. We've been informed by Mr. Mehta about your job. But Sir is in a meeting right now. You can leave your documents and designs here with your contact information. We'll inform you about your job," the receptionist told Khushi in a highly professional language.

Khushi opened her bag and took out the documents. Handing them over to the receptionist, she said, "Can I please have the visiting card?"

"Yeah sure ma'am" saying so she handed a small card to Khushi, taking her documents with other hand.

Khushi took the card and made her way outside AR, glancing at the name like hundred of times.

"Arnav Singh Raizada?" she read it again and again, as her eyes widened with utmost shock.

*

As soon as the meeting ended, Aman came to the reception for any messages as instructed by his boss; while Arnav moved to his cabin.

"Sir. As Mr. Mehta had informed us about.." the receptionist confirmed the name, "Yes. Khushi Kumari Gupta, she had visited AR this morning. I've gathered her contact information. What should I inform her?"

"I'll talk to Sir and let you know" Aman said as he collected the documents and climbed up to Arnav's cabin.

Arnav was busy on a call when Aman moved inside the cabin. Aman silently placed Khushi's design book on the table and went out again to bring a black coffee for his boss.

*

Khushi cried sitting on the floor, hugging the AR's visiting card close to her chest. How destiny again played its game with her! She unknowingly applied for a job in her Arnav's office! She was going through a mixed feeling. She herself didn't knew whether she should be happy or sad. Happy for finding him after complete twelve years or sad for being in a job where both of them would be hurt every-time they saw each other.

She came out of her endless thoughts as she heard her phone ringing. She picked it up and answered the call.

"Piyu" she called for her best friend and sobbed, "Piyu. I found him!"

"W-what?! You found him? When? Where?" she excitedly asked Khushi about Arnav.

"I didn't knew that Amit Uncle gave me AR's address and AR is owned by him" Khushi sniffed, smiling in between her tears.

"Really? That means you'll be working for him now?"

"I don't know. They haven't sent me any confirmation yet" Khushi spoke into the phone, getting up from the floor and walking to the kitchen.

"But I'm sure they'll appoint you" her friend tried to boost her confidence.

"Thanks Piyu. I miss you" she said, drinking a glass full-of water.

"Aw. I miss you too" the other replied, "But you don't worry Khushi. I'll soon be there to join you" and she hung the call.

Khushi sighed looking at Arnav's name shining in the middle of the visiting card, and her lips curved into a smile.

"Tu dekhiyo Khushi. Ek din main itna bada aadmi banunga ki hazaaron log mere niche kaam karenge. Main sabka boss hunga" (You'll see Khushi. One day I'll be such a great man that thousands of people will work under me. I'll be the boss of everyone), a 10-year old Arnav told Khushi, after being scolded by his father for not scoring good marks in a school-test.

"Aap humare bhi boss honge?" (You'll be my boss also?) Little Khushi asked him, fluttering her eye lashes innocently.

"Ho sakta hai" (May be) he mischievously replied and ran away, leaving a pouting confused Khushi behind.

He was right. He'll be everyone's boss. He is now. In fact, he'll be her boss also. Khushi smiled proudly at his success, as she wiped her tears.

*

"Hmm. The designs are pretty good. Appoint her Aman" Arnav ordered Aman, going through Khushi's designs thoroughly, not really knowing her identity.

"Yes Sir. But I think we should go through her qualification and experience as well" Aman said, suspecting her to not to be too experienced.

"If you want you can. I don't have time for all this" Arnav straightaway said.

"Okay Sir" Aman softly said, bowing his head.

"Confirm her this job. And also tell her to be here in my cabin at sharp 8 am on Monday" Arnav ordered Aman, getting up and leaving for home.

Pehle update hi itna emotional hai😭. Why does Arnav hate her? That's really unbearable to see Arnav hating Khushi. Khushi is so innocent and sweet and especially the little Khushi in this chapter!

I am so curious right now! I guess this is going to be one emotional ride! *sniff* *sniff* *wiping my nose*

But zyaada mat rulana mujhe.

Arnav is going break Khushi's heart. OhmyGod😭
