Chapter 6: Intututions

Delhi, 10:00 AM

The flight landed safely. The Shekawats and the Patels alighted. As soon as Randhir stepped down, he felt a shiver run through his body. But he just ignored it and started walking towards the immigration. It took about an hour to get a clean chit and with that both the families came out beaming as they had returned to their homeland after a very long time.

Soon all of them left to Raddison hotel where Katie (Randhir's secretary) had booked rooms. As soon as they reached the hotel, the manager came out and welcomed them. He instructed his men to take the families to their respective suits and make them feel comfortable.

After about an hour, the families met at the restaurant to have something since it was about 12, they felt having lunch would be better. They ordered their dishes and started talking. The parents were discussing their childhood and how they missed the country, in short they were going down the memory lane. While the younger generation were making a list of various places to visit here. In about 20 minutes their order was served and at once all started eating.

As they were finishing, Harsh spoke up.

Harsh: Tum sab bache yahi ruk jaao. Aur hum char Ahemdabad ke liye niklenge. Kal shaam ki flight hai.

Dhwani: Dad mein bhi aap ke saath chaloongi. Mujhe hamare ghar dekhna hai.

Renuka: Mishti tum yahan kisi aur kaam ke liye bhi aayi ho. Finish that first then you can enjoy your holiday without any tension

Dhwani: Hmmm. Teeke.

Mr Patel: Randhir beta meeting kab hai?

Randhir: Actually kal hai. I scheduled it such that both of us are not tired at the time of presentation.

Mr Patel: Good planning. Acha hum sab room mein chalte hain. What are your plans?

Jiggy: Nothing in particular dad. We'll just roam about in the city. Am so excited that am here. I feel ...

Mrs Patel: U feel kya? That your girl is here? Saying this she winked at her son

Jiggy blushed hearing this.

Soon the trio went out to explore the city while the other four went to their respective rooms.

Just like Randhir felt something at the airport, a girl who was fast asleep in an independent house woke up with a start at the same time. She gasped out loud and sat on her bed lazily.

Girl: Yeh kya hua? She thought out aloud

Just then her friend came to check if she was alright.

Friend: Arey kya hua? Why are you sitting as though you saw a ghost?

Girl: Kuch nahi Kastu! Pata nahi kya hua! I just suddenly woke up with a start.I felt as though someone pushed me.

Kastu: Huh? I at times don't understand what you say. This is why I ask you to not watch horror movies in the night. Anyway aaj hame O&S NGO jaana hai. Yaad hai na?

Girl: Arey haan!! Kab hai performance?

Kastu: Why are you so forgetful sanyu? Its at 6 but you gotta attend the whole function and that starts at 3. And now its 10, you better get ready soon.

Sanyu: Haan teeke teeke.

Kastu: Btw, Smitha called from office last evening. O&S Industries ke log kuch papers beje hain. Unke secretary tujhe bolne ko kaha hai.

Sanyu: Hmmm. Ok. Sir sent a mail regarding its contents and other details.

Kastu: Ok. Please get ready soon. Don't be late. Not today atleast.

Saying this she went out of the room. Within 2 hours Sanyu got ready and walked out wearing a beautiful orange color Anarkali suit. She had put very little makeup - Just the khol to make her eyes more expressive and a very light lip gloss. She had let her hair loose. Someone whistled as she came to the dining table. He was dressed in a black kurta pyjama and his hair was set with gel.

Sanyu: Tu kabhi nahi sudhrega na?

Someone: Kyu? Ladka hoon. Haq hai mera.

Sanyu: Parth am your ...

Parth: Exactly the reason. I have all rights to criticize you - good or bad. Got it?

Sanyu: Whatever

Parth: So what's for breakfast today?

"Nothing for you" Yelled another girl from kitchen.

PArth: OMG! Mar gaya!

Kastu: What you did this time Parth?

Girl: How many times have I told you to not touch the fridge. And even if you do your supposed to replace it and not leave empty covers.

Parth: Arey Sorry na. I swear next time I will not repeat it.

Kastu: Chodo na yaar!

Girl: No Kastu. Everytime he does this. All of us are putting efforts to maintain the house. Par yeh janaab tho. Hmph

Sanyu: Its ok Vidu. Next month we will ask him to sweep and mop the house. Done?

Parth: What?? Vidushi: Awesome.

Kastu: So its settled then. Parth this is also added to your responsibility from next month.

They all gathered at the dining table and had lunch. Just as they finished Sanyu spoke up

Sanyu: Ok guys, am leaving now with Parth. Kastu tum Vidu ko leke aajao.Dont be late. Please.

Kastu: You are telling me about being late. Hmph

Parth: Ok ok. Chalo sanyu.

Sanyu and Parth were on their way in Black Swift to the Annual day celebrations of O&S NGO where they were gonna dance. Within 20 minutes they reached the venue. The organization was run by the owners of O&S Industries. They give shelter to children, women and old people who have been deserted by their families.

Meanwhile, Randhir received an e-mail from O&S Industries inviting them to attend the Annual Day Celebrations of its NGO. So, the trio started to the venue where the event was to be held. Just as they where entering, the manager came to them and invited them into the hall and made them sit in their respective seats.

Just as he entered, both Sanyu and Randhir (who were in different places in the hall) felt the world around them go numb. They could feel something different but could not understand what it was. So as ususal they brushed it aside.

The programme started soon. The anchor of the programme invited the owners of the organisation, the chief guest and other trustees of the organisation. The chief guest was requested to light the lamp and give an inagural speech to mark the start of the function.

After about 20 minutes, when the inaugrual speech was over, the anchor took over

Anchor: Now I request the owner of the organisation to come up and say a few words. Please put your hands together to none other than ...
