'It's raining memories tonight.
We fall on an empty pavement.
We ended when the clock struck 12.
Like a fairytale enchantment'

Sanyukta was lying on her cold and lonely bed, swollen eyes staring at the ceiling.
She wanted to stop feeling. She wanted to stop hurting. She wanted the pain gone.
She wanted to end it all.
But she couldn't.
She wasn't strong enough to jump or cut herself.
And she wasn't strong enough to keep on living like this anymore.
She was caught in purgatory. She was frozen in pain.
She was...She used to be..Alive.
I love the anaphora here... She She She... it just increases the intensity of what she is feeling! I love it!
And now she was just a body. Reanimated to breathe and do what other humans did.
Except live.
What a beautiful irony. Humans live... and she felt she does what other humans do. Wow... I have told you from the beginning Ash... I love your use of rhetorical strategies... it makes me eager to read more!
"Sanyukta!" her bedroom door was thrown open in an instant.
She didn't need to look up to know who it was.
It was always him. He was her savage angel.
And her demon.
AGAIN! Another paradox!? Her angel and her demon!?! I love it LOVE LOVE LOVE!
"What have you done to yourself?" his soft whisper made a tear roll down her cheek and onto the white sheets.
"Sanyukta!" He pulled at her cold hand and sighed in relief when he felt a faint pulse.
Her other hand held a bottle of sleeping pills. Mercifully unopened.
'No!' He jumped up, pulling her off the bed and into his arms. He held her close to him, hoping his body heat would warm her enough.
awww. she is destroying herself! cold hand... faint pulse... sleeping pills. mericully unopened... this. all just paints a picture... but. dark.
Enough to keep her alive.
It was just like the last time.
"Sanyu..I need you. Don't leave me. I love you. Let me love you." his broken words were the last thing she heard before she slipped into sleep.
He was there.
He was there to lift her burdens and make them his own.
Just like Last time.
GOSH! WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIMEEE?!

'It's a game. Love is a game. I can see it in his eyes.
It's a game. He can't fool me with his lies'
She was supposed to be happy.
Everything was perfect.
On the outside.
She had a perfect life. She was a woman allowed to pursue her dreams. Even after marriage.
Especially after marriage.
"What's wrong? I gave you what you wanted. A chance to stay on in FITE." he smirked, his hair wet from a shower.
"I didn't ask for this." She snapped at him, making his grin wider.
"It was the price. Your dream in exchange for your freedom. Don't worry, you can pursue your engineering and find a job. I won't stop you from that.Infact I want you to excel in it. You are Randhir Singh Shekhawat's better half after all. What's yours is mine. What's mine is yours." his lips curved into something sinister.Just like they used to when she had just started college.
Sinister... damn. So what I am thinking is that he's bad from the beginning and softened and blossomed into something tender.
The vulnerable Randhir slashed open by the looming threat of his parents divorce had been replaced by the MCP.
"But why this?" Sanyukta held her head high, determined not to let any of her emotions slip.
"Why not? I wanted to make my rights on you official. You are mine now. Not Parth's. Not that bloody Mittal's. Mine." the smirk had reached blood chilling levels.
"I'm not some kind of property! I'm a human being. I'm not yours" Sanyukta yelled.
"The thread around your neck and the ring on your finger disagree with you my dear wifey" Randhir walked to the bed and pulled her up to face him.
uh,oh. I sense something realllyyy...weird.
"I married you to ensure that no one can take you from me.I will give you your dreams. But you will never forget that you are mine. I want to keep you happy. You will return the favour" there was only ice in his words.
" Keep you happy? Be your human punching bag?" Sanyukta whispered, eyes filled with fear.
He could be cruel.
He could be possessive.
And he fought dirty where she was concerned.
"No,you silly girl! I want you!" Randhir looked at her, longing on his face.
"What do you want from me Randhir?" She whispered, looking at him in confusion.
"I want you." he stroked her face with his hand, savouring the way she felt.
"I..I don't.." she admitted.
"Look at me" his tone was ice again.
She looked up to find the vulnerable Randhir gone.
Replaced by the MCP that sent shivers down her spine.
"Too bad wifey. Hubby wants you" Randhir held her hands in a tight grip.
"What are you..."
She couldn't say another word.
One minute her legs were on the polished wooden floor.
Holy...crap.
And then she was on the too big bed.
A bed meant for more than one person. A bed meant for more than just resting the body.
...the way you have described this... dammit. you're just magic.
"What hubby wants, hubby gets." He was over her form.
A tiger and a slaughtered sacrifice.
His hands. His eyes. His smile.
Her fear. Her fear. Her fear.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, lightly kissing her neck.
He knew she didn't want this.
But something deep inside him did not want to stop.
Sometimes the animal inside tore the human to bits.
Now was one of those times.
Her hands were useless at her side as he kissed her neck, moving up slowly.
oh my god. I am speechless.
It was a torture.
They were burning in hell.
And then he lost it.
Lips. Hers. His.
His lips were a conqueror and she was the war prize.
It wasn't a kiss.
It was a brand.
Like farmers marked their cattle.
He had marked her.
She was his.
In all ways but one.
Ragged breath and glassy eyes.
Swollen lips from the battle that had taken place.
"Mine. Don't ever deny me." He kissed her again.
She responded slowly and the kiss burnt down to a slow flame. Her hands on his back.
Clothes and air seperated them.
He could see a hint of desire in her eyes.
But not love.
He pulled away from her, disgust on his face.
"You are pathetic at this." he growled, leaving her to sob on the bed at the loss of her dreams.
She'd wanted engineering.
But also her freedom.
oh my gosh...😲
But she no longer had it.
Sameer or Randhir.
Randhir was always the lesser devil.
But she had failed to understand him.
Failed to know him. Failed to befriend him. Failed to comfort him.
And now she would pay all her life for her failures.

She didn't pray to god.
There was no hope for the hopeless.

"You are mine."
oh my god. so he was the lesser devil... but she failed to realize it. hmmm. something has happened for sure... has to happen for sure! I just can't believe that in the "present" he is totally opposite of this.
I

"Water." her hoarse demand shook him out of his restless position and he immediately rushed to get her what she needed.
He grabbed a glass of water and held it to her lips.
She drank, small slow sips that made him smile.
I can sort of the see this?!😕
And then he remembered the pills.
The f***ing pills.
He'd flushed them away the minute he was sure that she was unable to harm herself if he left her side.
The pills, small little things, deadly in large numbers went down the drain. Just like they had.
"Ran..dhir" he looked at her and all his rage evaporated.
She needed comfort. Not a lecture.
He pulled her into a tight hug. She hugged him back, needing the comfort his arms offered.
"Stay.." it took only one word to shut him up completely and utterly.
One word to make him forget what tonight marked.
One word to make him forget that a year ago this night had ruined them as a couple.
oh gosh... WHAT HAPPENED A YEAR AGO!? AHHH! and she hugged him back...she still loves him. loads.
***********************************
The book was in his hand again, open at the very beginning this time.
'We started off with oblivion. Two sides of a rusted coin. Both shattered people that hid behind self assured facades.
I was one end.
He was another.
And we were both the means to each others ends.'
It was funny how those printed words had imprinted themselves on his mind. Just like her.
'I didn't realise the extent of his feelings. His depth. His pain or his passion. I was a fool occupied by what they called selfish needs'
He could see glimpses of her as he went through the book.
'I ruined him as much as he ruined me'
THAT IS AMAZING! THAT THAT THAT! the quotes... oh my goodness! I loved it... it describes them perfectly. PERFECTLY! PERFECTLY... but the questioning thing is... how did she ruin him?! hmmm!
Then again, he had done some of it himself. Pushing her away when she had tried. God, she had tried to hard to be there for him. She'd tried so hard to get close to him.
He had pushed her away.
And into the arms of another man.
He pushed her away into the arms of another man?! holy crap...!
'It's been too long. I need her back.' the picture was out of the wallet again.
wait... this isn't RD... it's parth right?!
She wasn't aware she was being watched. She was clueless about his need for her. She was too caught up in her own life. Her career. Her little miseries. And that other man.
Hatred overwhelmed him.
The idiot was clueless as well. Unaware that his friend was not really his friend at all.
'She is the only one that gets me. The real me.'
A smirk twisted his handsome features.
'And I'm the only one that gets her.The real her.'
holy shit... yup.. it's parth! hahaha! his friend was not really his friend at all... goodness.

"Sanyukta Singh Shekhawat"
That voice.
She didn't need to know who that voice belonged to.
She knew that voice by heart.
"Sanyu...get up. It's 12. Noon." The voice persisted, this time the owner poked her in her side.
Awww! Randhir is sooo adorbs! haha! S-Cubed!!!
"Get up! Or I will tickle you" the voice warned
Tickle?!😉
"Randhir!" She got up with a start, looking at the grim face of her estranged husband.
"How did you get here?" she demanded, thankful that her voice did not quiver.
He knew her well. Each and every weakness of hers. And he knew how to use it against her.
Her love for him was a prison of her own making if the truth was to be told.
He knows her extremely well!
"I got the spare key from Parth. I moved my stuff in while you were sleeping." Randhir confessed, looking at her intensely, daring her to refuse or contradict him.
"Mov..ved i.in?" she stammered.
"Moved in. With all my essentials.Except my flat screen. That will be shifted in later" Randhir winked at his wife.
'Who.."she was tongue tied. She couldn't say no. She didn't really want to.
THEN DONT SAY NO, NAA?!😳😳😳
"I know this is like the best surprise ever wifey but come on, get out of bed. Today is Sunday. No office, no work and no projects. Just you and me" he grinned, a naughty, childish grin that she had come to love.
I can see that grin😉
Yes. Love. It was her own folly that had landed her where she was.
It was her own choice to make and her own curse to bear.
"I said I'm hungry" Randhir's impatient tone was no surprise to her. He was always grumpy when he was starving.
"What? You still can't cook? she asked, her face and eyes betraying her disbelief.
It had been a little more than a year since she had left Randhir. A little more than a year since she had left him to fend for himself. What had he eaten?
aw! sooo last night was the anniversary of what happened a year ago... hmmm! woah.
"I didn't feel the need to learn cooking. Parth made sure I had a home cooked dinner. Lunch was always with the colleagues. And I can make breakfast. Coffee and toast " Randhir answered her unasked question.
Sanyukta sighed inwardly.
"Parth made sure you had dinner? " Sanyukta inquired, amazed at how quickly Parth and Randhir had changed form enemies to close friends. Brothers.
"Parth never had the luxury of not knowing how to cook " Randhir answered.
"He's always been alone. " Sanyukta replied, feeling sad for her best friend . He had apparently still not moved on from the loss of Arpita.
Wrong... he still loves Vids right?! dang it.
Well, Sanyukta was really tired of telling him to move on. Especially after she herself had faced a devastating blow that she knew she could never recover from.
In other words... she couldn't tell him to move on when she can't move on from Randhir!
You never learn to really fill the gaping hole in your heart when death rips you apart, pieced by bitter piece.
Death... dang. death of their child!?! WAIT ... she had a miscarriage right? woah. sooo confused! ahh!
"I know. He needs to move on" Randhir lead his wife to the kitchen. The unvoiced thought in his head was in her head as well. She didn't want to accept it. But she knew he was right.
They needed to move on too.
But not from each other.
With Each other
YESSS! They know it!
"Oy wifey...khanna!" Randhir's stomach growled to emphasize his point.
She smiled for the first time in days as she raided her fridge for eggs. He took out the onions and other veggies that she would need to make breakfast omlettes.
"Ye kya wifey, no bread?" Randhir's face fell.
"French toast chaiye na? Get the bread yourself while I chop these stupid veggies." Sanyukta took out the chopping board and the knives.
"Do I have to?" Randhir pouted, too comfortable in the beanbag he was sitting in.
"Ok, I'll go and buy it MCP. Just chop the onions extra fine will you?" Sanyukta smirked, knowing that Randhir would leap out of his seat and rush out.
Hmmm. i'm confused? they are talking sort of normally? what? why?
She was not proven wrong. Within minutes he was out of the kitchen, dashing out madly like she was after him wth her knife.
Randhir Singh Shekhawat was an utter disaster when it came to chopping vegetables.
He somehow...always managed to cut himself.
It was safer to keep him out of the kitchen.
Sanyukta began chopping the onions, feeling the stinging sensation assult her eyes.
Her tears, however, were not a biologiacal reaction.
**************************
Binoculars.
Yes, he had restorted to using powerful optical devices to steal glimpses of her.
He watched her from her kitchen window, her hair a perfectly beautiful mess, her slim fingers working away at the chopping board.
SHIT, no.no.no.no.no. PARTH CANT BE LOOKinG AT SANYU LIKE THAT. NOOO.
She smiled a little as she put the knife down. Her face shone beautifully despite the tears in her eyes.
He gritted his teeth.
She shouldn't have to do this.
Not put on that fake pretense of hers.He was done being away from her. Done watching her cover her feelings with her words and her devotion to her proffesional life.
She needed to learn to live a little.
Her words were still etched in his mind. Words he knew were written just for him.

'He found me at my worst. I was falling down. Sinking into a blackhole. A pit that could almost take my life. And then he pulled me back.'

He remembered the envy in that other man's eyes.
But in the end, it was that other man who had her.
Shit shit shit. it's all making sense. You made it Sarth?!?! WHAT?! WHY!?
Parth remembers Randhir being jealous... but in the end... Randhir had her. Shit shit shit. EPIC EPIPHANY (haha...I did an alliteration there!)
'Not for long. She'll be in my arms tonight' A smirk on his face.
He was going to take her.
By force if she didn't come willingly.
But she was going to be his.
One way or another.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! Parth making Sanyu his?! WHAT EVEN!
*************************
"Here!" Randhir deposited the bread on the table.
"Bring it here." Sanyukta hissed, busily whisking the eggs together. She added salt to the raw eyes and the condiments.
"Here!" Randhir threw the loaf on the kitchen counter and he turned to leave.
"Are!Help karo. Remove the plates atleast." Sanyukta frowned as the pan hissed at her. Stupid utensils were also showing her attitude like her estranged husband.
"I'll do the dishes ok? Mujhe ek important call karna hai." Randhir fled out of the kitchen before his wife could say anything.
"Kabhi nahi sudhrega ye MCP" Sanykta thought with a frown on her face.
awhawhawh! sooo cute!
A few minutes later, she deposited hot plates full of french toast, omlettes, toast and a dish of butter on the table. She filled two mugs with coffee and decided to call her husband before the doorbell rang.
"Open the door!" Randhir's loud voice from the bedroom made her huff.
Randhir!
The bell rang again.
"Coming!" Sanyukta deposited the mugs on the table and she ran to answer the door.
"Hi Bhabhi." A large cardboard book greeted her.
damn. stupid parth. stupid stupid stupid.
"Parth? Randhir did not tell me you were coming." Sanyukta helped him put the large book carefully on the ground.
"Kya hai isme?" Sanyukta went to take a peek at the insanely large box but Parth stopped her.
"It's Randhir's PS3. All this stuff is cluttering up my place. So I thought I'll ditch it here."Parth grinned.
"Great. Now this clutter will decorate my hall. Acha wo choodo, breakfast?" Sanyukta smiled back at the man who was like a brother to her. A better brother than Ankit anyway.
"Breakfast sounds good. Where is Randhir by the way?" Parth let Sanyukta lead him to the kitchen.
"Call him. Bedroom main hain. Important call karna hai bolke lock kardiya hoga khudko." Sanyukta rolled her eyes as she filled another mug with coffee for her best friend.
"Khaana thanda ho jaega.I'll go get him." Parth walked to the bedroom and knocked the door.
"Kaun hai?" Randhir's voice sounded oddly pinched.
"Parth.Darvaja kholo. Khaana thanda ho raha hai." Parth replied.
"I don't want to eat." Randhir snapped.
what happened!? after the phone call... randhir changed?!
"Tu abhi ke abhi darvaja khol. Warna mujhe darvaja todna hoga." Parth threatened his brother. Randhir did not sound like his usual self. Something was terribly wrong.
"Should I get Sanyukta?" Parth tried the threat as a last resort.
The door immediatly swung open.
Parth found himself pulled into the room by his collar.
"Pagal hogaya hai kya?" Parth freed himself from Randhir's strong grip.
"Haan. Main Pagal...I'm insane" Randhir mummbled.
Does Randhir know Parth's plan?!
Parth looked carefully at his friends eyes.
They were red.
"Kya hua? Kuch bologe?"Parth shook Randhir hard.
"Accept ho gaya." Randhir's tone was dazed.
"Kya accept hogaya?" Parth prompted his friend to continue talking.
"Adoption application." Randhir admitted, his eyes filled with fear and excitement.
"WHAT?" Parth yelled in pure shock.
"Randhir, you have really lost it"disbelief stamped on Parth's face.
"I'm not going to screw it up like I did last time Parth. I'm not going to let her get hurt." Randhir had steel in his tone.
Oh... oh. Randhir is wanting an adoption to help her?!
"You will be repeating the same mistake."Parth shook his head." You need to give her time. Time to heal"
"I found her crashed out last night. With a bottle of sleeping pills in her hand. She was going to kill herself Parth" Randhir hissed, looking into the other man's eyes intensely.
Parth flinched at Randhir's words.
Kill herself.
"No...you are right. She needs to move on." Parth sighed.
"I need your help Parth. Main ye akele nahi kar sakta. Sanyukta ke sabse ache dost ho" Randhir gave Parth a pleading look.
"Nahi Randhir, not anymore."Parth whispered softly."But I will help" Parth nodded, looking back at Randhir, his eyes equally determined as Randhir's own.
holy crap. it is parth... he's saying that he's not her sabse ache dost... but he will help her by making her his?! how disgusting!
****************************
"Main breakfast bana rahi thi.Tum bolo. Ye RD aur Parth abhi tak bedroom main he."Sanyukta sighed over the phone.
The reply to her statement was so unexpected that Sanyukta burst into giggles.
"Kuch bhi...Acha tu kya kar rahi hai aaj?" Sanyukta quickly changed the topic in order to get the very graphic images out of her head.
"Randhir moved in.I think it's time we worked it out.You were right, I need to give my marriage another chance. I think we will spend most of today.."she was cut off by another blush worthy reply.
WHO IS SHE CALLING?!
"Haha..shut up...Vapas agae wo log. Baadme call karti hun" Sanyukta ended the call without listening to her friends reply.
"Kaun tha phone pe?" Randhir gave her a look that screamed worry.
"Kaustuki" Sanyukta said, putting her phone on the counter.
"Kaustuki thi ya koi aur?" Randhir's voice was laced with jealousy. It had to be jealousy.
oh! I thought it might be vids... dang.
"Sanyu, I need to leave.I have an important meeting that just got preponed." Parth did not meet her eyes.He was busy with his own cellphone.
"Are, have breakfast and go" Sanyukta urged him.
"Let him go Sanyu."Randhir's eyes looked into her own, something sad and broken looking back at her.
"Ok.But we will meet up for lunch soon" Sanyukta gave in.
"Sure.Waise we need a reunion." Parth grinned.
Randhir slapped his shoulder playfully and escorted him to the lift.
"Wo kya tha Mr.Randhir Singh Shekhawat?" Sanyukta was a picture to behold. Her hands on her hips, her flaming eyes, flaring nostrils and wild hair.
If Randhir was a lesser man, he would have been intimidated.
"Parth. Parth left."Randhir smirked.
"So?"Sanyukta knew there was something on his mind. Living with him had made her sensitive to his weaker side.
"Did you say something to him? Why did he leave so abruptly?" Suspicion was evident in her eyes and Randhir Sighed.
"Mr Singhania called. Parth offered to go to give us some time for ourselves." Randhir looked at her guarded expression.
"The Singhania Merger? Ok."Sanyukta nodded.
Parth was Randhir's partner. It made perfect sense for Parth to help Randhir out in times like this.
"Parth is too nice for his own good."Sanyukta smiled."He's giving time to give ourselves a second chance."
oh... maybe I was wrong? what? SUPER CONFUSEDDD😲😉
"Are we?" Randhir's soft whisper made her want to hug him.
"We need to talk Randhir. We need to heal" Sanyukta admitted, her eyes getting filled with tears.
She found herself in the familiar comfort of his arms.
"I'm glad you think so. I cannot live without you."Randhir mummbled in her hair.
"I've been stupid...we have been stupid" Sanyukta sobbed into his shoulder.
"I know...that's why I need you to hear me out this time okay?" Randhir patted her back awkwardly. He was never good at handling crying people.
"Ok...but let's have breakfast first. Your stomach just growled again" Sanyukta let go of her husband.
Minutes and clean plates later, they were sitting on the sofa, opposite to each other.
awww!
"There is something I need to tell you about. I need you to listen."Randhir
"Yes."Sanyukta nodded earnestly. She ha promised to give him a chance. Give them a chance.
"The adoption application I filed for...it's been accepted. And before you say anything,I think we need to see a counseller" Randhir blurted out.
"What!"
He was not prepared for the hand that met his cheek.
"How could you?How could you do this to me?" Sanyukta started sobbing loudly, hitting him with her fists.
Randhir caught her fists and pined her beneath him on the sofa.
"You need to move on. What you are doing is not mechanical engineering but mechanical living! You are being self destructive and I will not lose you!" he yelled in her face.
I love how he cares for her sooo much! goodness.
"I cannot bring up a child...not with the constant knowledge that I can never have my own..our own" Sanyukta sobbed harder than before.
shit. something happened where she can't have her own child... damn.
"We cannot live like this. You need someone to love, cherish and belong to." Randhir confronted her.
"I have you" She
yelled back in his face.
"But you need a child as well.I know we will make amazing parents" Randhir reasurred her.
"I can't bear the heartbreak again..." Sanyukta let go of her senses and she sobbed, without care into her husbands chest.
"Think of the child. He or she will have lost it's parents well.We will be helping three souls heal." Randhir added.
"I'm not ready. I'm scared" Sanyukta admitted.
"I'm there for you. I took an appointment for us at my mom's counsellor. We will sort this out. I promise." Randhir kissed her forehead.
"I love you. I was broken when you turned against me" she mummbled into his ear.
awwwh! THEY ARE GIVING EACH OTHER A SECOND CHANGEEE!
The memories were still vivid in her head.
Blood. So much blood.
Pain. And emptiness.
she had a miscarriage...
And overall, Randhir's anger.
"You!" he had pointed an enraged finger at her "You killed my daughter."
danggg... he blamed the miscarriage on her!? what even!?! AHHH!

GOD! I CAN'T EVEN WAIT... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER! AHHH! I am prolly gonna kill that parth. and you tried making it Sarth... what even. no. no. no. It's got to be Vidarth. dang... SO CONFUSED AHHH! CANT WAIT!
