Oh well. There she was. Sitting with ...Randhir?
And one of her hand was in his, clutched tightly just like it had been in the morning. Wow. What the hell had changed in a day? It was just a few hours, not more then ten and suddenly, suddenly Sanyukta and Randhir who hated each other...now they couldn't be seen apart, just permanently attached at the hand!
Parth knew he shouldn't have blocked Sanyukta on his phone. But then, he was hurt. The fact that she would team up with Randhir to play such a dirty trick on him was unbearable. Almost as unbearable as finding those letters. "Sanyukta?" he approached her, hesitating a bit. Ofcourse, she had a right to be angry with him, the way he had treated her was unforgiveable.
"Parth? " her voice still held the usual kindness. "Can I talk to you? Alone?" Parth asked, looking at her with a hint of a plea in his eyes. Sanyukta opened her mouth to answer but before she could, Randhir did. "No."
Parth frowned. Great. Looked like Randhir had taken his place as Sanyukta's best friend. As her protector. "Randhir. Not here." Sanyukta whispered. "I need to tell him." Randhir whispered back, a frown on his face. "But what about.." Sanyukta lowered her voice and Parth could not hear anymore. "Fine. Tell him." Randhir finally sighed. Sanyukta turned to Parth. " Randhir has something to say. But not here. You both have already created a scene and I don't want it happening again." "I'm not going to create a scene. "Parth offered. "I would if I were you. I think it's better if we talk somewhere where we cannot be overheared" Randhir said calmly. No grin. No smirk. And above all, no attitude. Randhir Singh Shekhawat meant business right now. Something about this made Parth uneasy. "Come on. Please?" Sanyukta asked. Parth nodded. Randhir got up from his chair, Sanyukta's hand still in his uninjured one. Parth looked at the interlinked fingers, Something was going on in there. Something really big. ...
She was sitting quietly in the lab, for once not caring about anything, not gossiping, not spying on other people and certainly not playing any tricks. Today she just wanted to let everything go. The pen flew over the pages and unsatisfied, she scribbled all over them. What good is it? No one will read these anyway. Lies. All lies. And then, there were those footsteps. She hid, dragging all her stuff down with her under the table, making herself as small as possible. More then two people entered and she almost stopped breathing when she heard their voices. "Alright. We have a lot of things to say to each other. But you boys need to promise me that you will not attack each other no matter what. Promise.?" Sanyukta! "I will not attack if he doesn't. But if he does then I will not hold back." Randhir. "I'm not a feral animal to attack anyone. I will not attack if there is no reason to." Parth. Parth. She covered her mouth with her hands before any sound could escape her mouth. She had just wanted a quiet place and loneliness with only her thought for company. And know, she was stuck like a bomb in a birdcage. If one of them caught her...She shook her head and concentrated on trying to keep herself invisible. The question of why these three were in this isolated lab came into her head but she brushed it aside. It was none of her business. But thanks to her ears, she could hear everything that was going on. ...
"Alright, I want to say I'm sorry. I'm really sorry for how I acted with you, Sanyukta." Parth continued " It was wrong, I had no right to treat you that way" "The hell you did" Randhir muttered. "Randhir! Please?" Sanyukta said softly, putting her hand on his shoulder. "No, it's alright. I wasn't thinking rationally. The moment I found Sanyukta was writing those letters, I lost it. It is a sensitive matter for me and I lost it." Parth hung his head down. "Sanyukta didn't do it. She didn't write those letters." Randhir finally replied after a long silence. "Really? God, I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions like this." Parth looked relieved. And then his face became stormy again. " I need to find out who did it then. I bet it was Vidushi. She's the only one cruel enough to pull of such a thing" Under the table, in her hiding place, Vidushi held her breath. Which letters? Why did he think of her so badly? " No Parth, Vidushi has nothing to do with any of this" Randhir offered. "You don't know what she's capable of. I swear when I find her..." Parth's threat made Sanyukta flinch. Wow, he was really pissed. "Sit down Parth. There is something I need to tell you." Sanyukta put her other hand, the one not in Randhir's on Parth's shoulder. "Alright." The creak of the wooden chair acroos the hard floor followed Parth's word and all of them sat down not far away from where someone else sat, trying desperately to go unnoticed. Randhir sighed. "There's no easy way to say this. I wrote those letters." The silence in the room was deafening. And then, it was broken. " Why?" Parth's tone was filled with anger and confusion. "It's unhealthy, what you were doing. Exactly what my father did. I watched him waste his life away with alcohol. And I am watching you waste away your life with emptiness. I couldn't help my dad when I was young..." Randhir sighed " And then I read the newspaper and we talked...I saw how much it hurt you. Won't want anyone to hurt like that. And Sanyukta, she needs someone who loves her back. Not that useless man." Randhir let go of Sanyukta's hand. "What? I understand the first reason. But come on! Parth is my bestfriend. There is nothing like you think." Sanyukta looked at Randhir in shock. Parth took a deep breath. " You shouldn't have done that. You should have talked to Sanyukta or even me. We may fight like wild dogs but I can be reasonable. Well most of the time." " You.. you are not mad at me? " Randhir was shocked. He had expected screaming, yelling and a punch to the face atleast. " You didn't do it with bad intentions. Though it was a wrong thing to do. It made me wake up. I'm going to give myself a second chance. At life and in love. Who knows maybe I'll even start dating again. You were right, Arpita would have wanted that too." Parth had a tired look on his face. He sighed, relived that Sanyukta hadn't done it. That she was not in love with him. "Am I forgiven? Can we be friends again?" Parth looked at Sanyukta. "No. But there's a best friend vacancy if you are still up to the job." Sanyukta winked. Parth smiled at her, glad he had talked to her. "I should say sorry too. I just wanted to help. " Randhir mumbled. Randhir Singh Shekhawat was apologizing? "Is something wrong Randhir?" Parth looked at Randhir's face, shocked to see the resigned look on the face that was always lit up with a smug expression. Yes, something was wrong. " Parth, he doesn't like to talk about it" Sanyukta whispered. "No it's ok. I know something of his. He should know something of mine." Randhir sighed "My parents are getting divorced." Parth nodded. "You don't want them to. " "Who wants that? I wish they would understand what they are putting me through." " Did you talk to them?" Parth asked. "Will they listen?" Randhir chuckled." No they won't. I'm alone and I've always been." "You have me" Sanyukta whispered. "How long? You will get engaged and leave" Randhir sighed. " I don't want to leave" Sanyukta whispered. Parth looked at them both. And then, he laughed. " There's a way you can break the engagement, stay at FITE and still not embarrass your family" Parth offered. Sanyukta's eyes almost popped out. "How?" " Get engaged." Parth said. Sanyukta and Randhir looked at him as if he had lost it. " I'm sorry, but isn't breaking the engagement the point?" sarcasm was back in Randhir's voice. "Did I say get engaged to Sameer?" Parth smirked.Sanyukta and Randhir just looked at him like he was speaking some foreign language. "Think about it. And when you do figure it out, don't kill me" Parth smirked. Randhir's eyes widened in realization. He gave Parth a glare. Parth shook his head. " Randhir, I know you got what Parth said, tell me!" Sanyukta demanded. "Ask Parth!" and with that, Randhir ran, knowing full well that she would follow. And she did, demanding that he stop and talk to her. He watched them run like idiots and he laughed. Well atleast they had a chance together. And Sanyukta Singh Shekhawat had a nice ring to it. Just like the one that Randhir had put on Sanyukta's finger Parth shook his head. Now that he and Sanyukta were back on normal terms and Randhir and Sanyukta were not acting like Tom and Jerry, it was going to be fun to be around them. Parth grabbed the chair he had been sitting on and still grinning, dragged it back to it's original place. He pushed it under the table. ...
"Ouch!" Vidushi screamed as the chair hit her ankle and then to her horror, someone grabbed it and she felt herself being pulled out from under her hiding place. The grip on her ankle was deadly tight and her eyes immediately shut in response. She tried to get out of the grip but even kicking at whoever had grabbed her didn't work. She knew she was done for when the hand on her ankle loosened and someone harshly pulled her up and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Hi Vidushi" Parth's voice made her eyes snap open.
